Chapter 124 – Violent Useless vs. Delicate Cat (04)
Since he couldn’t give Mu Jin any medication, the young man thought of using physical methods to reduce the fever. Yan Yang grabbed a handkerchief, soaked it, wrung it out, and placed it on Mu Jin’s forehead, hoping to cool him down.
Mu Jin was indeed running a fever at that moment, so the cool compress felt soothing, helping him sleep more soundly.
That night, Yan Yang hardly slept at all, staying by Mu Jin’s side, changing the handkerchief regularly, and keeping a watchful eye on the sick kitten.
The next morning, when Mu Jin woke up, he saw Yan Yang sleeping beside him, his arm draped over him. The young man’s eyes had noticeable dark circles, and he hadn’t changed his clothes, indicating he likely hadn’t slept all night.
Mu Jin blinked at the sight and, feeling worried, extended his paw to gently pat the young man’s cheek.
Yan Yang felt the movement and slowly opened his eyes. Realizing he’d dozed off from exhaustion, he tapped his forehead in annoyance. But when he saw the kitten looking more energetic, he finally felt some relief.
He rubbed Mu Jin’s forehead with two fingers and asked with concern, “Hey, are you really okay now?”
He knew that animals’ body temperatures were higher than humans, and touching the kitten’s body felt less hot than the night before, indicating an improvement. Yan Yang felt more at ease and quickly left the room to get some food for the kitten from the dining hall.
By the time he reached the dining hall, the other members of the Yan family were already there. Yan Xiao was quietly eating his breakfast, while Yan Lexin was as lively as ever.
The family seemed harmonious, but when Yan Yang entered, only Yan Xiao glanced up and gave him a slight nod. The others acted as if they didn’t see him, even though he was the biological son of their father.
Yan Yang was used to this treatment. He quickly finished his breakfast and, before leaving, sneaked into the kitchen to get some porridge and soup, then returned to his room.
After feeding Mu Jin and leaving some food, he fussed over the kitten, warning it not to cause trouble before picking up his bag and heading to school.
Throughout the day, Yan Yang was distracted, his mind constantly on the kitten at home. Even when Qi Xi tried to provoke him, he paid no attention, and as soon as school ended, he hurried back home.
However, when he got home, he found his room unusually clean. The bed linens had been changed, and there was no trace of the kitten anywhere.
Yan Yang grew anxious. Although the maids did clean his room regularly, they’d already cleaned it the day before. He didn’t like people entering his room without permission, so they only cleaned twice a week. Today wasn’t one of those days.
Worried someone had found the kitten, he rushed to the butler’s quarters to ask if anyone had gone into his room and if they had noticed anything unusual.
The butler said that a new maid, unaware that Yan Yang’s room wasn’t to be entered without permission, had cleaned it, but she hadn’t reported finding anything unusual.
The butler found Yan Yang’s intense reaction a bit strange. Realizing he might be overreacting, Yan Yang quickly made up an excuse and returned to his room, but he still couldn’t calm down.
He checked his room again, confirming the kitten was nowhere to be found. Dejected, he sat down in a chair, tousling his hair in frustration, worried about where the injured kitten might have gone.
Just as he was becoming increasingly anxious, he suddenly heard a faint meow coming from somewhere. Yan Yang quickly stood up and followed the sound, finding his window slightly ajar.
When he opened the window, he saw the kitten shivering on the balcony, shivering in the cold wind, looking pitifully at him.
Seeing the kitten was safe, Yan Yang finally felt relieved. He gently picked Mu Jin up and brought him back inside, puzzled by how the kitten had ended up outside on the balcony. He eventually concluded that he must have left the window open without realizing it.
In the following days, Yan Yang, despite wanting to take Mu Jin with him to school, had to leave the injured kitten at home. Taking him to school would be inconvenient, and the injured kitten needed rest.
So he hid the kitten in a safe spot, instructing the butler not to allow anyone into his room, promising to clean it himself.
After hearing Yan Yang’s instructions, the butler agreed, allowing Mu Jin to stay comfortably at home without worrying about anyone barging in, sparing him the effort of running out onto the balcony to hide.
Mu Jin knew that those from noble families always viewed Yan Yang as useless, liked to pick on him, and found ways to make his life difficult. However, they were wary of the Yan family and didn’t want to escalate things, so Yan Yang, given his temperament, would keep quiet as long as they didn’t hit him in the face.
But reading the plot was one thing, witnessing it was another. Every time he saw the young man grimacing in pain as he treated his wounds, Mu Jin felt deep resentment. He wanted nothing more than to recover his body and severely punish those who dared to bully his partner.
It was 003, speaking in his sea of consciousness, who repeatedly cautioned Mu Jin, warning him not to let the world consciousness notice him. Otherwise, Mu Jin might have given in to the urge to break through the constraints and use his primal powers.
Today, Yan Yang had been injured again. After forcefully pushing away the bruises on his shoulder, he dressed and buttoned his shirt. But when he turned around, he saw the kitten on the bed staring intently at him.
The young man’s eyes glimmered with a hint of a smile; he enjoyed the feeling of being watched so intently. With a slight curve of his lips, he leaned in and said to Mu Jin, “Hey, little guy, why are you staring at me? Are you hungry?”
But as soon as he finished speaking, the kitten stuck out its tiny tongue and licked his nose.
Yan Yang was taken aback by the kitten’s action, then he heard it meowing and saw it approach, gently patting his injured shoulder with its tiny paw. Noticing the kitten’s almost human-like behavior, he couldn’t help but chuckle, feeling a warmth in his heart. He muttered to himself, “Little guy, are you worried about me?”
Mu Jin tilted his head, but his tiny paws continued to gently push against the young man’s shoulder, as if trying to give him a massage.
Yan Yang noticed the bandage around Mu Jin’s chest, and even though the kitten’s wound had healed quite a bit, he was still worried that its movements might reopen the wound. He quickly stopped Mu Jin’s actions and said, “It’s fine; it doesn’t hurt. Those guys can’t beat me.”
While saying this, he reached out and tapped Mu Jin’s pink nose, smiling gently. “Hey, little guy, why don’t you stay with me? I’ll give you a name, okay? How about I call you… Xiao Jin?”
He didn’t know why, but the word “Jin” suddenly popped into his mind when he thought about naming the kitten, and he inexplicably grew fond of it.
Mu Jin was overjoyed when he heard Yan Yang wanted to name him “Xiao Jin.” It showed that even without his memory, his lover still thought of him, still felt a connection. How could he not be moved by that?
So, the kitten version of Mu Jin immediately moved closer, seeking a hug from the young man.
Seeing the kitten become lively at the mention of “Xiao Jin,” Yan Yang couldn’t help but smile. He gently picked up Mu Jin and said happily, “Looks like you like that name too.”
After being alone for so many years, having a cute little creature by his side made Yan Yang feel joyful. He lowered his head and kissed Mu Jin on the forehead, promising, “Xiao Jin, don’t worry. I’ll take good care of you!”
Yan Yang kept his word, taking great care of Mu Jin. Though sometimes, when Mu Jin was asleep and didn’t greet him immediately when he came home, Yan Yang would pretend to be angry.
But Mu Jin had already seen through Yan Yang’s paper tiger nature and wasn’t bothered by his angry expressions. All he had to do was act cute, meow a bit, and his lover would give him a kiss, a hug, or even lift him into the air.
A few days later, Mu Jin’s injuries had healed significantly, surprising Yan Yang. He didn’t expect a kitten’s healing ability to be so strong, as the deep scratches on its chest had all healed, leaving only faint scars.
Since the kitten’s wounds had healed, the young man thought it was time to give it a proper bath to clean it up.
