Chapter 123 – Violent Useless vs. Delicate Cat (03)
Mu Jin, who had read the original plot thoroughly, naturally recognized that this girl was Yan Lexin, one of the future love interests in the protagonist Yan Xiao’s harem. Watching her graceful silhouette as she walked away, Mu Jin blinked, feeling a bit curious.
After all, for someone who had lived for so many years and had only loved one person, Mu Jin couldn’t quite grasp the mindset of a playboy.
However, he had no interest in the protagonist’s personal life. As long as it didn’t interfere with him and his lover, he didn’t care how many people were in Yan Xiao’s harem. As long as it was consensual, that was their business.
After a long period of waiting, to the point where Mu Jin almost fell asleep, he suddenly detected a familiar scent in the air. He opened his eyes with effort, seeing a young man squatting in front of him, frowning in displeasure.
The young man had sharp features, a high nose bridge, and clear, amber-colored eyes. His school uniform hung loosely around his waist, and his short black hair stood up in spikes, giving him a rebellious look.
The young man stared at Mu Jin for a while before gently poking his paw with a finger. Seeing the confused expression on the kitten’s face, he frowned and said, “Filthy. Is it a dog?”
“Meow, meow, meow?” Mu Jin’s eyes widened in surprise. He’d been a plant for many years, but he could still tell the difference between a cat and a dog. How could someone mistake an obviously white-furred kitten for a dog?
He protested with a couple of weak meows, but to the young man, they sounded faint, like a mosquito’s buzzing. The boy dug at his ear and said, “Oh, it’s a cat.” He stared at Mu Jin a bit longer before quickly getting up to leave.
Seeing the young man take a step, indicating he was about to leave, Mu Jin panicked and tried to stand up. However, he stumbled and fell back, left with no choice but to pitifully meow at Yan Yang’s retreating back.
Yan Yang took a few steps before his frown deepened at the faint meows. He knew he shouldn’t meddle in such matters. If his father found out he brought the kitten home, he might scold him for playing around and could even endanger the kitten’s life. But…
Seeing the kitten sprawled on the ground, stretching out its paws as if trying to grab his pant leg, Yan Yang’s heart softened a bit. Especially when Mu Jin rolled over, revealing a bright red scratch on his chest, Yan Yang quickly crouched down and gently picked him up.
The sight of the deep scratch on Mu Jin’s chest made Yan Yang’s heart clench. He didn’t know that Mu Jin’s external injuries were caused by the original owner unconsciously clawing at his chest during his breakthrough. It was just a superficial wound, but it looked severe.
Trying to hide his concern, Yan Yang spoke in a stern voice, “I’m warning you, don’t cause trouble, or I’ll throw you in the trash!”
Mu Jin felt the gentleness in the boy’s touch, a hint of a smile flashing in his eyes. It seemed his lover in this life was all talk but soft-hearted.
How cute!
He pretended to be clueless, staring at Yan Yang with big cat eyes, then tilted his head and meowed a couple of times, even nuzzling against the boy’s fingertips.
Yan Yang was taken aback by Mu Jin’s reaction, his cheeks turning red. The thought of him threatening a kitten not to cause trouble made him feel a bit ridiculous.
His fierce expression softened as he let out a cold snort and carefully tucked the kitten into his jacket, heading towards home.
The scene shifted to Yan Yang entering his house, where he saw Yan Zhengqing speaking kindly to Yan Lexin in the hall. However, both of them changed their expressions when they saw Yan Yang, the warm and harmonious atmosphere vanishing instantly.
Yan Zhengqing, seeing Yan Yang, spoke coldly, “Why are you so late? Your sister came home ages ago. You must have been out wandering after school again. Go to your room and clean yourself up. If you don’t finish today’s training, you won’t get dinner.”
Yan Yang was used to Yan Zhengqing’s double standards. His father had always been harsh with him since childhood.
Even though his soul power had been labeled as useless since birth, Yan Zhengqing still insisted on rigorous training. He constantly reminded Yan Yang that he needed to at least improve to a normal level to avoid disgracing the Yan family.
Yan Zhengqing was obsessed with the family’s prestige, caring only about his image. While Yan Yang might have lashed out at his father, today’s unusual situation kept him quiet. He hugged his backpack and quickly went to his room.
Yan Zhengqing didn’t care about Yan Yang’s feelings. As soon as he left, Yan Zhengqing turned his attention to Yan Lexin, who chattered on about what happened at school that day. His face softened, and he resumed his role as the kindly father, continuing his conversation with her.
As he was thinking, he realized that his daughter was indeed the better child. Not only did she have a good talent for soul power, but she was also adorable and charming. In the future, if she married into a prominent family, it would definitely bring greater benefits to the Yan family.
When Yan Yang returned to his room, he carefully took the kitten out of his backpack. He was incredibly relieved that the kitten was small; otherwise, it would have been difficult to hide its presence.
Seeing the kitten’s obedient demeanor, he felt comforted. He spread a soft towel on his desk and gently placed the kitten on it, carefully inspecting the scratch on its chest.
Not knowing what caused the injury, Yan Yang was a bit worried, muttering “Troublesome” under his breath as he rummaged through his drawers for some suitable medicine to treat the kitten.
Yan Yang often got into fights at the academy, so he was familiar with treating his own wounds. He found some remaining first-aid supplies in his room, making it easier to deal with the situation.
The kitten appeared to be mostly white, but its fur was smudged with gray dust, making it look dirty. However, Yan Yang didn’t dare wash it, as the kitten was injured, and bathing it might cause the wounds to become infected.
Afraid of being too rough, Yan Yang cleaned the area around the wound and found a cotton swab to carefully apply medicine to Mu Jin’s injuries. After carefully treating the wound, he wrapped a bandage around Mu Jin’s chest, hoping the kitten would recover quickly.
Once the kitten’s wound was treated, Yan Yang transferred it to his bed, letting it rest on the soft mattress. He then went out to complete his daily training quota.
Mu Jin was tired from his injuries and his arrival in this new world. Knowing that Yan Yang was out for legitimate reasons, he felt he could use the extra time to rest, so he obediently closed his eyes and quickly fell into a deep sleep.
With the kitten in his room waiting for his care, Yan Yang trained with extra effort that night. He finished much earlier than usual and hurried back to his room.
Despite his early finish, it was already dark when he returned. Though his body was exhausted, Yan Yang was more concerned about the kitten. But when he went to check on it, he found that the little kitten had developed a fever.
Feeling the kitten’s hot body, Yan Yang was alarmed. Given its small size, he feared that its life could be fragile. He was worried that giving it human medicine might be dangerous, so he decided to sneak into the kitchen to find something suitable for the kitten.
Despite training all night and feeling hungry, Yan Yang’s mind was focused on Mu Jin. Finding some hot meat broth in the kitchen, he grabbed a couple of pieces of bread and quickly returned to his room.
He took a few bites of bread and a sip of water to curb his hunger, then placed the hot broth in front of Mu Jin. Gently nudging the kitten, he hoped it would wake up. When Mu Jin opened his eyes slightly, Yan Yang used a small spoon to blow on the broth and offered it to the kitten.
Mu Jin sniffed and, smelling the aroma of the broth, forced himself to open his eyes. His head felt groggy, and he was drowsy. But sensing his lover’s familiar aura, Mu Jin mustered up the energy to lick the spoonful of meat broth.
The flavorful broth entered his mouth, and he found it quite tasty. However, given his small size, he couldn’t eat much, so he only took four or five spoonfuls before he felt full.
He lowered his head, burying his fluffy face in his paws, and let out a small “meow” to indicate he was done eating.
To Yan Yang, however, the amount Mu Jin ate seemed pitifully small, leading him to worry that the kitten’s poor appetite was due to its illness, increasing his concern.
After drinking the broth, Mu Jin quickly became drowsy again, especially with his lover’s comforting presence nearby. He didn’t know that while he slept soundly, the young man beside him hardly slept a wink.
Yan Yang watched Mu Jin fall asleep, seeing how fragile the kitten looked, which only made him more anxious and even a bit fearful. He didn’t understand why a simple kitten he’d found on the road could tug at his heartstrings so much.
But at this moment, the young man didn’t have the energy to think about anything else; he just hoped the kitten would recover quickly.
“Yan Lexin, one of the future love interests in the protagonist Yan Xiao’s harem“ I BEG YOU PARDON?! Yan Xiao is adopted but he’s still a distant relative of the Yan family, and Yan Lexin literally has Yan blood in her 💀 (unless her mum cheated or sum, but bro that’s still not okay, didn’t they grow up as siblings?! Brotha eugh)
