President 12

Tang Xi hesitated for a moment, but his little paw still clung on, refusing to let go.

He didn’t get a chance to regret it—He Wang picked him up directly and carried him downstairs.

Nestled in He Wang’s arms, Tang Xi sulked, feeling like he was about to walk straight into the wolf’s den.

When they reached the conference room, a burly man nodded in greeting. “President He.” Then, he opened the door.

Tang Xi immediately recognized him as the same person who had been at the accident scene on the first day he arrived, along with Assistant Wang. It was also him who had stayed behind to handle and investigate the crash.

As expected of a villain—even his subordinates were top-tier professionals.

The moment the conference room door opened, Tang Xi curiously craned his neck, only to spot a tall, thin man tied up tightly to a chair.

The moment the man saw He Wang enter, he struggled even harder and shouted in a desperate but unconvincing tone, “This is illegal detention! Let me go!”

Tang Xi didn’t miss the flicker of fear in the man’s eyes when he looked at He Wang.

[1551, who is he?]

[The one who tampered with the villain’s brakes.]

[!!!]

A bad guy!

Feeling emboldened by the fact that he was being held by the big villain, Tang Xi stepped on He Wang’s arm with his little paws and hissed at the man.

Like a tiny, fierce kitten pretending to have the backing of a tiger.

Watching the little kitten in his arms clumsily attempt to hiss at someone for the first time, He Wang couldn’t help but chuckle, his chest vibrating lightly.

His heart softened. It was the first time he had ever felt protected by someone—and that someone was just a tiny kitten.

“Be good. Don’t look later,” He Wang murmured, stroking the little kitten before his expression turned cold once more.

He gestured to the side.

Before Tang Xi knew what was happening, he was passed over to Assistant Wang. Stunned, he blinked in confusion, wondering how he had ended up in someone else’s arms.

Then, Tang Xi saw the villain roughly yank at his meticulously tied tie twice with his long, elegant fingers before mercilessly kicking the tall, thin man in the leg.

With a loud scream, the man—chair and all—was sent flying several meters.

Hearing the loud thud of a body hitting the ground, Tang Xi was so startled that his ears flattened, and his pupils instantly dilated, becoming round and wide.

At that moment, He Wang seemed like a completely different person. His eyes were devoid of warmth. “Did the Xu family pay you a large sum to finish the job and flee abroad?”

This man had been brought back from the airport by He Wang’s subordinates.

The tall, thin man trembled violently on the ground. His initial determination to stay silent wavered the instant He Wang’s expression changed. He forced himself to keep his mouth shut, not daring to utter a word.

If it weren’t for the ropes tying him up, Tang Xi seriously suspected the man would have bolted for the door in terror. Even as a bystander, he was overwhelmed by the sheer intimidation He Wang exuded.

Of course, He Wang had no intention of letting him off easily. He slowly listed off the man’s dirty dealings with the Xu family, one by one.

The more the man listened, the worse his expression became. His face turned deathly pale, and sweat poured down like rain. “H-How do you know all this…?”

Bang—

Another loud crash answered him. He Wang delivered another brutal kick to his leg—striking the exact same spot as before.

Even with his ears pressed tightly down, Tang Xi’s sharp hearing made him think he could hear the sound of bones cracking.

“Ahhh!” The searing pain from his leg made the man break down completely, tears and snot streaming down his face.

Through his blurred vision, he saw He Wang once again approaching him—expression still cold and unreadable.

The overwhelming physical and psychological pressure finally shattered the last of his resistance. He sobbed as he confessed, “I admit it! I’ll tell you everything, just don’t come any closer… It was Xu Meng, the Xu family’s head! He told me to tamper with your brakes! He paid me millions and even bought me a house abroad, telling me to stay out of the country for a few years. I was wrong! I really was—I lost my mind!”

“Heh. Your dealings with the Xu family go far beyond that, don’t they?” He Wang no longer advanced. His powerful leg, clad in tailored suit pants, shifted slightly. The luxury handcrafted leather shoe on his foot casually pressed down on the man’s injured leg and ground into it. “Take him to the police station. Let him ‘recall’ every single transaction in detail. And make sure to tell the officers he broke his leg while panicking and trying to escape.”

His gaze was ice-cold, looking down at the man as if he were nothing more than a lifeless corpse.

The matter was resolved swiftly and ruthlessly. Tang Xi remained curled up in Assistant Wang’s arms, dazed, even when He Wang reached out a hand toward him.

Perhaps because He Wang’s aura of violence hadn’t completely faded, Tang Xi instinctively shuddered when he was touched.

Noticing his fear, He Wang’s hand paused for a brief moment—but in the end, he still pulled the little kitten firmly back into his arms.

He carried Tang Xi back to the office, but the little kitten was still fluffed up in fear.

He Wang set down the now even rounder furball in his arms, pinched its tiny triangular ears, and said, “Didn’t I tell you not to look? You never listen. Now you’re scared, huh?”

“Meow.”

Tang Xi pretended not to understand, spun in circles chasing his tail, and avoided making eye contact.

He Wang leisurely pushed the little kitten—who had been trying to sneak further away—back toward him. “Too late now.”

Realizing now that He Wang wasn’t a good person? A bit too late for that.

Seeing that the kitten still refused to look at him, he impatiently pinched the other ear. “I know you understand me.”

That one light remark hit Tang Xi like a bomb.

He froze, his little body stiffening in shock, his pink tongue still sticking out—completely forgetting to retract it.

[H-He… How does he know?!]

1551 sighed in exasperation: [Did you really think your disguise was that good?]

[Am I going to be taken to a lab and dissected? QwQ]

[Relax. As long as he doesn’t find out you can turn into a human, he has no proof that you’re anything more than an ordinary cat.] 1551 reassured him.

Hearing this, the panicked little kitten finally managed to regain a sliver of composure.

He Wang looked at the little kitten frozen in place and finally couldn’t hold back a laugh. “You’re really terrible at pretending.”

Realizing his reaction had already given everything away, Tang Xi let out a dispirited “meow” and gave up resisting.

“Where did you come from? A little cat demon?” He Wang’s restless fingers pinched the soft little paws again.

“Meow.” I’m here to save you.

Of course, He Wang couldn’t understand. He placed the kitten on the keyboard. “Can you type?”

Tang Xi lied, shaking his head ever so slightly.

He Wang didn’t seem disappointed. He reached out and teased the kitten’s chin. “Doesn’t matter where you came from. Now that you’re here, don’t even think about leaving.”

He had already checked the traffic cam footage from the accident. The kitten had appeared from a blind spot—healthy, well-groomed, a golden British Shorthair with no reason to be abandoned. But somehow, he was just… there.

He Wang was willing to let it go. He could even help cover it up. In return, the kitten would stay by his side.

A flicker of something unreadable passed through his eyes. “Do you want dried fish?”

Caught off guard by the sudden topic shift, Tang Xi’s ears perked up, and his tail swayed excitedly. “Meow!” I do!

Just like that, everything that had happened in the meeting room was completely forgotten.

Without needing any coaxing, he eagerly snuggled up again.

He Wang pulled out a pack of dried fish from his desk drawer—something he had specifically asked his secretary to prepare—and picked out the biggest piece, handing it to the kitten.

He didn’t care at all that Tang Xi was munching away messily, bits of fish getting everywhere.

Even when important documents got smudged, the little kitten remained blissfully unaware, eyes squinting in satisfaction, looking as if good food alone could heal anything.

. . . . .

The weekend passed in the blink of an eye, and soon it was Monday morning—time for class again.

To avoid being taken to the office again, Tang Xi deliberately ate his breakfast slowly, acting like he was still half-asleep.

Seeing the little guy looking sluggish, He Wang called the veterinarian over.

After a quick check-up, the veterinarian said, “From what I can see, Tangkuai is perfectly healthy—even healthier than most cats. But he’s a bit smaller than average. Based on his bone age from the last check-up, he should be around two months old, but compared to other British Shorthair kittens his age, his legs are a bit shorter, and his body is rounder, which makes him look even smaller.”

“Meow!” You’re short! Your whole family is short!

The veterinarian chuckled. “See? He looks plenty energetic to me. It’s normal for kittens this young to get sleepy easily—they need plenty of rest.”

He Wang tapped his fingers on the table but said nothing.

In the end, he didn’t take Tang Xi to work with him. Instead, he had the butler carry him back to his room.

The moment the door closed, Tang Xi—who had looked too sleepy to keep his eyes open—suddenly widened them. “Meow!” Time to go to school!

1551: …Scheming little cat.

Ignoring the system’s silence, Tang Xi happily patted the pillow with his tiny paws.

It had only been two days, but he actually missed his classmates.

There was something about the lively, youthful energy of school that couldn’t be found anywhere else.

Since it was Monday, the students were visibly low-energy. When Tang Xi arrived at the classroom, it was in complete chaos.

As soon as he sat down, he made a face. “Why is everyone rushing to finish their homework?”

Ye Qian glanced at him and smiled. “Didn’t do yours again?”

It’s not that I didn’t want to—it’s just hard to keep up appearances while hiding my secret identity…

Tang Xi wilted slightly and nodded, only to have two notebooks shoved in front of him.

One said Chen Yuxin, the other Chen Ruili.

“Copy mine!”

Chen Ruili and Chen Yuxin spoke in unison, then exchanged glances, both looking a little stunned. But neither of them took back the homework they had offered Tang Xi.

Chen Yuxin laughed awkwardly. “Wow, the sports committee member actually remembered to bring his homework this time. I sit in front of Tang Xi, so it’d be easier for him to copy mine. That way, we can turn it in together.”

Chen Ruili grinned a little sheepishly. “It’s fine, I don’t mind the trouble.”

Tang Xi hesitated, unsure whose homework to borrow. No matter whose he chose, it felt like he’d be hurting the other person’s feelings.

In the end, the issue was settled when Ye Qian took out his own homework and handed it to Tang Xi.

With the top student stepping in, no one else dared to compete.

As soon as his notebook was taken, Ye Qian’s mood visibly improved. He even pulled out a box of cream puffs and handed them to his deskmate.

Tang Xi’s eyes lit up at the sight of the round, fluffy pastries. If he had a tail, it would definitely be wagging like crazy.

The two of them finished the entire box together, leaving their mouths covered in cream.

[It’s different from cake, but it’s so good!] Tang Xi squinted happily.

1551: You only care about food.

[You’re just jealous you can’t taste it. So sad.]

Tang Xi’s taunt wasn’t particularly harmful, but it was deeply insulting. 1551 was so furious it disappeared on the spot.

Ye Qian’s good mood lasted all morning—until the uninvited Shen Chensi appeared in the afternoon and ruined it.

“What are you doing here again?” Ye Qian said coldly.

“I’m not here for you.” Shen Chensi’s tone was just as indifferent toward Ye Qian, but when he turned to Tang Xi, his expression brightened into a grin. “You guys have P.E. class next, right?”

Tang Xi nodded honestly. “Yeah.”

“Skip it and come with me.” Shen Chensi’s words were shocking.
