Chapter 71 – Apocalypse Arc: Zombie Siege: Rebirth in the Apocalypse—My Secret Lover (09)

When Bai Tang opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was a scruffy, unkempt man.

“Ah Cang…” His throat was unbearably dry. Bai Tang raised his hand, but the movement tugged at the stitched wound on his abdomen. He gasped in pain and clutched his stomach.

“Ring—”

Shao Licang pressed the call button and grabbed Bai Tang’s delicate hand. “You can’t touch it yet.”

“It hurts~” Bai Tang’s teary eyes shimmered as he gazed miserably at Shao Licang.

“Of course it hurts. The anesthesia has worn off. Who told you to run off on your own?” Shao Licang was determined to teach Bai Tang a lesson—otherwise, he would never learn his limits.

“It hurts~” Bai Tang felt wronged. Why was Ah Cang scolding him even though he was the one who got hurt?

He knew he was in the wrong, but he still grasped Shao Licang’s hand, pressing it against his own face as he whimpered, “I won’t do it again… Please don’t abandon me~”

The delicate young boy looked dazed, his misty eyes filled with obedience and longing as he rubbed against Shao Licang’s hand. The motion was so endearing that it nearly ignited something dangerous within Shao Licang. He took a deep breath and pulled his hand away.

Not yet.

It’s not time yet.

Just a little longer.

Bai Tang stared at his now empty palm. Unable to hold back, he burst into loud sobs.

Ah Cang doesn’t like me anymore.

He’s angry.

He doesn’t want me anymore.

Just then, Bai Yun walked in carrying a thermos and immediately saw Bai Tang crying, his golden tears falling. Due to his excessive movement, a faint red stain began seeping through his stitches.

She shoved Shao Licang aside. “What did you do to him?”

“Don’t cry, Tang Tang. I’ll call the doctor, okay?” Bai Yun pressed the call button and shot Shao Licang a glare.

As expected, nothing good ever happens when the male lead is around.

Since Shao Licang had already called earlier, the doctor arrived quickly.

Changing the dressing.

Reapplying the bandages.

Bai Tang was utterly heartbroken.

Ah Cang doesn’t like him anymore.

It felt worse than death.

He must have fallen for the female lead after meeting her. He might as well just die—at least then, he wouldn’t get in the way of Ah Cang and Tan Qingqing.

“Tang Tang, don’t think like that! You still have me! I’ll always be with you!” The system shouted desperately at Bai Tang.

Bai Yun was furious the moment she saw Shao Licang.

Out of the ten times Bai Tang was with him, he cried at least eight.

She kicked Shao Licang out of the hospital room and turned back to hug Bai Tang.

“Tang Tang, it’s my fault. I didn’t take good care of you—I let you get hurt.”

Bai Tang leaned against Bai Yun’s embrace, silently shedding tears.

Outside, Shao Licang absentmindedly touched the jade pendant in his pocket.

It felt warm.

When he took it out to check, a few drops of blood seeped from the pendant, and suddenly, a pack of tissues popped out.

Shao Licang’s forehead twitched.

A bad feeling crept over him.

Without hesitation, he left the hospital’s main building and rushed to the forest behind it.

The jade pendant started spilling out massive amounts of supplies.

Staring at the mountain of provisions, Shao Licang’s mind raced.

A sudden assassination attempt.

Bai Tang’s disappearance.

The jade pendant.

These supplies.

The apocalypse…

This morning, he had received news—

In Country L, the first cases of undead and mutated animals had appeared.

The research institute had already begun capturing them for study.

And Bai Tang, who could transform…

Shao Licang sped back to the hospital room.

Tang Tang, please—

Don’t transform now.

Not now.

Outside the ward, Bai Yun shut the door behind her, only to find Shao Licang hurrying back.

“Mr. Shao, Tang Tang needs to rest. Please leave.”

Her alluring face was as cold as ice, and she firmly barred him from entering. Through the transparent window on the door, Bai Tang could be seen fast asleep. Shao Licang withdrew his gaze.

From the intel he received, Bai Yun seemed to be stockpiling supplies as well.

Expressionless, he spoke. “Let’s talk.”

“I don’t think we have anything to discuss—”

“The apocalypse.”

Author’s Note:

Bai Tang: “I’m breaking up with you! Breaking up!!!”

Shao Licang: “No. I won’t allow it.”
