When Bai Tang opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was a scruffy, unkempt man.
“Ah Cang…” His throat was unbearably dry. Bai Tang raised his hand, but the movement tugged at the stitched wound on his abdomen. He gasped in pain and clutched his stomach.
“Ring—”
Shao Licang pressed the call button and grabbed Bai Tang’s delicate hand. “You can’t touch it yet.”
“It hurts~” Bai Tang’s teary eyes shimmered as he gazed miserably at Shao Licang.
“Of course it hurts. The anesthesia has worn off. Who told you to run off on your own?” Shao Licang was determined to teach Bai Tang a lesson—otherwise, he would never learn his limits.
“It hurts~” Bai Tang felt wronged. Why was Ah Cang scolding him even though he was the one who got hurt?
He knew he was in the wrong, but he still grasped Shao Licang’s hand, pressing it against his own face as he whimpered, “I won’t do it again… Please don’t abandon me~”
The delicate young boy looked dazed, his misty eyes filled with obedience and longing as he rubbed against Shao Licang’s hand. The motion was so endearing that it nearly ignited something dangerous within Shao Licang. He took a deep breath and pulled his hand away.

Bai Tang leaned against Bai Yun’s embrace, silently shedding tears.

It felt warm.
