Chapter 70 – Apocalypse Arc: Zombie Siege: Rebirth in the Apocalypse—My Secret Lover (08)

Bai Tang leaped onto the icy beam, but his paws couldn’t grip the slick surface, and he plummeted straight down.

Tan Qingqing caught the falling creature with one hand. She had thought it was something else, but it turned out to be just a rat.

She narrowed her eyes. The apocalypse hasn’t even started, and rats are already developing intelligence?

Annoyed that a mere rodent had wasted her time, Tan Qingqing channeled all her frustration over her boyfriend onto Bai Tang. She picked up a fruit knife, ready to send the little creature on its way.

Splat Blood dripped onto the ground, one drop at a time.

Several fresh scratches marred Tan Qingqing’s face. The culprit? The small squirrel, whose struggling paws were still stained with traces of blood.

“My face… D*mn it.” Tan Qingqing gritted her teeth. Having survived the apocalypse, she had long since discarded any notions of kindness or compassion. Fueled by rage, she tightened her grip on the squirrel’s soft belly, raised the knife, and—

Bang!

The warehouse doors were violently kicked open.

Startled, Tan Qingqing momentarily lost focus, giving the little squirrel the perfect opportunity—it clawed at her neck, tearing through her skin, and in the process, hooked its claws onto the red string of her jade pendant. However, it couldn’t completely avoid the knife; the blade still managed to pierce its soft belly slightly.

Hissing in pain, Tan Qingqing hurled the squirrel against the wall with full force.

Shao Licang stepped inside, his face devoid of emotion. Tan Qingqing froze, panic flashing in her eyes. Overcome with guilt, she didn’t even spare a glance at the fallen jade pendant and immediately bolted toward the warehouse’s back door.

Her back slammed into the hard concrete wall as she tripped over a stack of boxes. The neatly arranged cartons came crashing down in a chaotic mess.

Covered in disheveled fur and bleeding, the little squirrel tumbled to Shao Licang’s feet. A flash of white light burst forth, and right before his eyes, a miraculous transformation took place.

“Tang Tang—” Shao Licang’s eyes widened in horror. He swiftly removed his coat and wrapped Bai Tang in his arms.

“Ah Cang… here.” Bai Tang weakly lifted the jade pendant he had retrieved. The moment Shao Licang took it, Bai Tang could no longer hold on and fainted.

His subordinates, who had arrived late, quickly moved to clean up the warehouse. Meanwhile, Shao Licang ran through countless red lights, rushing Bai Tang to the emergency room.

By the time Bai Yun arrived at the hospital, she found Shaoli Cang sitting outside the corridor, looking utterly defeated.

“How is Tang Tang?” Bai Yun asked anxiously.

Shao Licang’s eyes were bloodshot, staring at Bai Yun as if looking at a sworn enemy.

“Why did you take him out?” If Tangtang hadn’t gone out, he wouldn’t have gotten hurt.

“I… I don’t know either…” Facing Shao Licang’s reproach, Bai Yun had nothing to say. The red light of the emergency room remained lit. Neither of them spoke, silently praying that bad news wouldn’t come.

The red light went out, and the doctor stepped out of the emergency room, removing his mask.

“The patient is not in immediate danger. He will have a fever tonight, but once it subsides, there will be no further risk.”

As the doctor finished speaking, Bai Tang was wheeled out on a hospital bed.

Due to excessive blood loss, his face was pale as paper. He lay there quietly, his slightly furrowed brows indicating that he was not as comfortable as he seemed in his unconscious state.

Shao Licang seemed to think of something and asked, “Is Tang Tang your biological younger brother?”

Bai Yun responded warily, “Of course! If I’m not, then what—are you?” Could the male lead be planning to steal my little brother?

Shao Licang ignored her and stepped into Bai Tang’s hospital room.

In the middle of the night, just as the doctor had said, Bai Tang developed a fever.

His face was flushed red, and his lips were dry and cracked from dehydration. Shao Licang called for the doctor, and after another round of treatment, Bai Tang finally calmed down a little by dawn.

“Boss, there’s news from that side.”

Hearing the report from the hallway and recalling the warehouse where Bai Tang was found, Shao Licang narrowed his sharp eyes.

The apocalypse…?

Author’s Note:

I don’t know what to say. I don’t dare to speak. I tortured Tang Tang—I’m afraid you’ll beat me.
