Chapter 261 – Professor, Please Don’t Raise Zombies (51)
Yan Che’s movements were slow and gentle, inching forward as if trying to pull Yan Luo’s attention back to him.
The trembling in Yan Luo’s body gradually eased. The images flashing before her eyes flickered away, replaced by the anxious voice of Little Pink.
[Dear Host, Dear Host, are you alright?]
Yan Luo snapped back to reality, only to find Yan Che’s handsome face inches away from hers. A trace of surprise flickered through her eyes before he nudged his nose against hers, teasing her with a soft chuckle. His tone, however, was filled with warmth, as if afraid of scaring her further.
“What’s wrong? Did that person frighten you?”
Yan Luo instinctively shrank back slightly, her neck retreating as she struggled to shake off the lingering emotions. She murmured a faint response—soft and delicate, making Yan Che want to cradle her in his hands… and then go beat Cheng Xiaoxiao to death a thousand times over.
It took a while before Yan Luo fully regained her senses. She buried her small face against his chest, wrapping her arms around his waist in a pitiful embrace, rubbing against him like a kitten seeking comfort.
Yan Che chuckled, scooping her up effortlessly and striding toward the door.
Nestled in his arms, Yan Luo let out a quiet sigh of relief, her nose filled with his crisp, clean scent. The memory of what she had just seen flashed through her mind, a complicated emotion flickering in her eyes.
[What happened just now, Dear Host?] Little Pink’s worried voice rang out again. For a moment earlier, Yan Luo’s soul had been on the verge of collapse.
Yet in the next instant, something unknown had calmed her down.
“I saw something… unsettling,” Yan Luo murmured, pressing her lips together slightly before adopting the familiar tone Little Pink was used to—sounding almost sulky. “It seems to be a memory from the original owner.”
Little Pink, failing to notice the oddity in her voice, let out a sigh of relief.
[That makes sense. After all, this dimension is already unstable, and there are many hidden truths that even the system can’t detect anymore.]
Yan Luo hummed softly in acknowledgment, lowering her gaze to conceal the emotions in her eyes.
By then, Yan Che had carried her into the innermost part of the lab, sealing away the bloodstained horrors outside. He looked down at the small figure curled up in his arms and smiled gently.
“Alright, it’s over now.”
But the little girl still refused to lift her head.
Yan Che didn’t mind. He reached out and playfully pinched her cheek.
“Besides, you have me. What’s there to be afraid of?”
However, the fear certainly wasn’t because of Cheng Xiaoxiao.
Yan Luo blinked, her eyes shimmering, before she grumbled in protest.
“You tied me up just now. I couldn’t even run.”
Hearing her grievance, Yan Che couldn’t help but laugh. He swallowed all responsibility without complaint and finally managed to coax her into a slightly better mood.
However, just as she landed on her feet, she turned and saw his bloodied, mangled hand.
Ah, coaxing his wife was truly difficult.
Glancing at the tiny shoe prints on his clothes, Yan Che propped his chin up with one hand and obediently sat to the side, watching the puffed-up little girl wrap his wounds with bandages.
She muttered complaints under her breath the entire time, occasionally even poking his injury on purpose.
So adorable.
Yan Che let her do as she pleased, his eyes darkening slightly. The hand supporting his chin slowly shifted into his pocket, fingers rubbing against a crystal core.
His gaze drifted subtly toward her stomach.
“Luoluo, do you still feel full?”
For a moment, she almost answered instinctively.
But then she tilted her head, eyeing him suspiciously.
With a small huff, she poked his palm in retaliation.
“Student Yan Che, please maintain a serious attitude—I’m discussing something important here!”
