Chapter 260 – Professor, Please Don’t Raise Zombies (50)

At that time, Cheng Xiaoxiao was actually feeling guilty. Seeing his gaze now, the blood and grime on his face, she felt an even greater shock in her heart.

She never expected—

The nightmare had come true.

Yan Che was agitated. Extremely agitated. So agitated he wanted to kill someone.

Especially since Yan Luo had almost gotten hurt right under his nose. Just thinking about what had happened earlier, countless ways to kill the person before him flashed through his mind.

This kind of violent rage was something Yan Che had never experienced before.

His eyes grew colder, and with a forceful grip, he crushed the bloodstained blade in his hand. A mist of blood dispersed into the air, while fresh blood dripped from his wounded palm.

But he didn’t care at all. Lowering his head, he looked at the girl in his arms.

Yan Luo seemed lost in thought, her eyes slightly vacant. Her small body trembled faintly, and no matter how many times he called her name, she didn’t respond.

Was she… scared?

Yan Che called her name gently, his voice soft. He only gave her a slight shake, not forcing her out of her daze. His fingers slowly tightened, his gaze lowered.

Suddenly, Cheng Xiaoxiao let out a sharp scream. One hand clutched her head while the other tried to rise but could only tremble helplessly in midair due to her injuries.

“Ahhh!!” The pain in her mind felt like it was about to burst out. Her entire head felt like it was going to explode. The suffocating agony made her gasp for air.

She struggled to lift her eyes and look at Yan Che and Yan Luo, only to meet Yan Che’s gaze—cold, glinting with an icy light.

“You… aren’t a plant-type…” ability user? How does his power do this?

She could now clearly understand what it meant to overestimate oneself.

“Foolish.” Yan Che’s voice was icy. Holding the girl in one arm, he watched as Cheng Xiaoxiao continued to struggle. His hand moved in slow, soothing strokes along Yan Luo’s back, who was still lost in shock, before he finally spoke again.

“I originally had no intention of causing trouble for you, but…”

He lifted his wounded hand, watching the blood continuing to seep out. He let out a cold laugh.

“My Luoluo said that I belong to her. That I must not be injured so easily. But because of you, I broke my promise to her…”

“Ahhh!!” Cheng Xiaoxiao could no longer form words. She could only watch in horror as Yan Che, still holding Yan Luo, stepped closer.

From somewhere, he pulled out a syringe filled with an unknown pale yellow liquid. In this moment, he looked like a madman.

She couldn’t move. She could only watch helplessly as he injected the liquid into her body.

Before losing consciousness, she heard a voice, cold and cruel like a devil’s whisper:

“I think a half-human, half-zombie form would suit you better.”

Cheng Xiaoxiao collapsed, unconscious. Her body began to change. Her once delicate face swelled grotesquely like an inflating balloon. Rotten flesh peeled off in chunks, falling to the ground with sickening splats.

Yan Che was smiling, but his eyes remained frigid.

This was his newly developed zombie virus, extracted from zombies that had failed to evolve. Because the virus was weak, the infected retained a faint human consciousness but could never evolve further. They could only suffer endless pain, watching their bodies decay until they rotted away completely.

Yan Che watched Cheng Xiaoxiao convulsing on the ground before finally withdrawing his gaze. Holding Yan Luo, he found a clean corner and sat down. She still hadn’t snapped out of it, her small body trembling slightly.

A trace of heartache flickered in his eyes. He spoke softly, his voice gentle and indulgent.

“Luoluo, Luoluo?”

His lips brushed against hers—not deep, just a light touch, carrying a soothing warmth.

“Don’t be afraid. I’m here.”
