Chapter 229 – Professor, Please Don’t Raise Zombies (19)
—What am I doing?
Yan Che’s gaze darkened slightly, and his movements became gentler. He did have some thoughts about doing something right now.
But looking at the bright eyes of the little girl in front of him—clearly a zombie, yet somehow so delicate—he found himself willing to indulge her.
He withdrew his hand, watching as Yan Luo puffed out her cheeks and lifted her own hand to wipe away the water droplets from her hair.
Her face, fresh and tender like a lotus emerging from water, looked so soft that he had the urge to reach out and poke it.
Yan Che retracted his gaze and licked his lips slightly. His voice was a bit husky, but the trace of danger in his tone was well hidden, so well that Yan Luo didn’t even notice.
“Be good.” Yan Che patted Yan Luo’s small head, tugged at his collar to reveal part of his well-defined chest, and curled his lips slightly. “Go bring me my clothes.”
It was as if she was being ordered around, so Yan Luo shot him a glare and huffed in dissatisfaction. But in the end, she still turned and walked toward the room not far away.
Yan Che turned around and stepped into the bathroom. He caught the faint scent of shower gel. There were puddles of water beside the pool, making it easy to imagine how this little girl had struggled to climb out of the water earlier.
The corners of Yan Che’s lips couldn’t help but lift slightly as he tossed his dirty clothes to the side.
As a researcher, he was naturally a bit of a neat freak, and his personality was even more so. But when it came to Yan Luo, who spent her days either causing a fuss here or playing around there, he somehow tolerated it all, letting her do as she pleased.
Thinking about it, even he found it a little unbelievable.
Stepping into the warm water, he let out a slow breath. Just then, the door behind him opened, and the girl’s soft, sweet voice came through the mist.
“Yan Che, here.”
Yan Che stood in the warm water, his lower body clad in black shorts. Crystal-clear droplets rolled down his chest as he lifted a hand to push back his damp bangs, revealing a pair of strikingly beautiful black eyes. But this time, they carried a dangerous glint, his usual warm and refined demeanor had vanished, replaced by an air of bewitching charm.
A charm that made the air feel stifling.
Yan Luo stood at the doorway, blinking. She felt the humid air making her little face heat up.
Clutching the clothes in her hands, she hesitated at the door.
“What are you standing there for? Come here.” Yan Che raised an eyebrow slightly and gestured for her to approach.
“I—I’ll just leave them at the door!”
His deep, magnetic voice made Yan Luo’s head feel a little fuzzy. She hesitated before stepping forward, placing the clothes on a chair by the door, and then quickly hopping back, ready to escape this room filled with overwhelming masculinity.
But of course, Yan Che wouldn’t let her run off so easily.
Her foot suddenly caught on something, and she stumbled forward. This time, however, she didn’t fall to the ground.
Soft vines caught her midair, one of them brushing along her skin in a slow, teasing motion, sending a light, ticklish sensation through her.
Already feeling unusually sensitive, the touch made Yan Luo instinctively shrink back.
In the end, the vine carried the reluctant little girl toward the edge of the water pool.
She pursed her lips, squirming slightly, her gaze darting around, refusing to look at Yan Che, who was now so dangerously close. A hint of dissatisfaction appeared on her face as she mumbled under her breath.
“What exactly do you want to do?”
