Chapter 228 – Professor, Please Don’t Raise Zombies (18)

Yan Che looked all prim and proper, but was he actually a pure boy?

Yan Luo’s eyes curved with amusement as she playfully splashed the water.

At that moment, Yan Che, stepping out of the room, paused briefly. He became aware of the heat simmering within him, and his eyes darkened. His fingers rubbed together slightly, as if sensing something unfamiliar.

He turned his head toward the door, standing still for a long time before finally reaching up to remove his gold-rimmed glasses, folding them neatly and slipping them into his pocket.

The danger in his eyes was now completely unmasked.

It was an odd feeling, something new. A restlessness he had never experienced before.

When he first brought her back, it had been purely for experimentation, nothing more. But gradually, something began to shift.

In the past, even the betrayal, or anything else, could never stir his interest.

He never had the patience for petty games of revenge, not even with those who were on the brink of death.

Even watching others drown in agony brought him no pleasure.

He cared nothing for this world, nothing for the people in it, not even himself. All he wanted was to continue exploring, to see if there was still anything interesting enough to make his existence worthwhile.

The world was dull and uninspiring. If he didn’t find something entertaining, he sometimes thought he might just destroy it all.

He had always known that his mindset was far from normal, but he had never felt the need to change. There was simply no point.

And yet, somehow, through their interactions, he had slowly forgotten those thoughts. She had made him unknowingly adjust his actions, redirect his focus, again and again, all because of her.

He had practically spoiled this little thing to the heavens. Even now, thinking back on it, he found it utterly inconceivable.

But wasn’t that rather interesting?

The thought made the corners of his lips lift slightly in a quiet chuckle.

She ate his food, used his things, so in the end, she ought to belong to him too, shouldn’t she?

As for this sudden heat surging within him, he knew what it was. Desire.

He vaguely recalled that, before the apocalypse, some scholars had suggested that proper release was beneficial for both mind and body.

Adjusting his collar slightly, he tugged open a few buttons, revealing his defined collarbones. The heat within him seemed to subside, if only just a little.

Perhaps he should find time to test that theory.

With that thought in mind, Yan Che remained outwardly impassive, despite the somewhat dangerous ideas forming in his head.

Just then, the door in front of him swung open.

Yan Luo blinked her large eyes at him, tilting her head slightly in curiosity, seemingly puzzled as to why he had been standing motionless outside the door.

Her whole body was still damp, with droplets trailing down from her not-too-long hair. The moisture seeped into her clothes, creating faint ripples across the fabric.

A subtle scent drifted from her. The scent of body wash, the very same brand he had been using for years.

His eyes darkened once more.

A vine slithered up from the side, curling around a towel and bringing it to Yan Che’s hand. He stepped forward and draped the towel over Yan Luo’s head, starting to dry her wet hair.

Yan Luo narrowed her eyes slightly, letting out a soft hum of contentment.

The gentle sound carried a hint of pleasure.

For a moment, Yan Che’s hand paused.

Then, in the next second, his movements turned rough, rubbing her hair into a complete mess.

“Ugh, stop, stop! What are you doing?!”

Yan Luo reached up, pressing down on the mischievous hand on her head. Her cheeks puffed up in protest.
