Please Like Her 01 – “I really want to forgive you, Brother.”

Shang Lu and Chi Yan exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with a sense of helplessness and yet amusement.

The two elementary school Masters consoled them, “Don’t be discouraged, you’ve done well. The claw settings here at this shop are quite challenging on purpose.”

Another one chimed in, “Yes, you two are doing great, really! Much better than our classmates!”

Encouraged by the two Masters’ praise, Shang Lu and Chi Yan continued to give it their all.

After a few more tries, with guidance from the Masters, Shang Lu managed to successfully grab the first doll.

When the white little rabbit dropped out of the hole, Shang Lu couldn’t help but cheer, “Chi Yan! Look, I got it!”

“Wow, you’re amazing,” Chi Yan praised her verbally but then deliberately shook the two gray rabbits in his hands, looking a bit cocky and mischievous.

Shang Lu was puzzled. When did Chi Yan manage to grab two?

She immediately inserted more coins, determined to catch up to Chi Yan’s score. However, the more she wanted to win, the more she failed in consecutive attempts.

At that moment, one of the Masters discreetly pulled on Shang Lu’s sleeve and said, “Sister, come over here. There’s a machine where someone has failed to grab anything for over a dozen tries. It’s bound to have a strong claw now.”

Shang Lu exclaimed, and hurried over to that game machine. To her surprise, with a single claw grab, she managed to snatch two dolls at once!

Chi Yan’s voice suddenly came from behind them: “Master is being too biased.”

The elementary school student blushed and smiled at Shang Lu before quickly running away.

Shang Lu put the two dolls into the small cart pushed by Chi Yan and shrugged, saying, “Maybe my charm is stronger than yours.”

“Yes, yes,” Chi Yan replied in agreement and then asked, “Young Lady, I have finished my apprenticeship. Which one would you like to choose?”

“Are you so impressive?” Shang Lu questioned with her words, but kept pointing to different doll machines, saying, “This one, that one, and that one, I want them all.”

“Got it,” Chi Yan said and took a few game coins, then walked to the doll machine Shang Lu had specified and bent down.

Until the basket of game coins was empty, Shang Lu and Chi Yan’s cart was filled with various stuffed animals.

However, they had long stopped counting and couldn’t even tell who had won.

Shang Lu looked contentedly at the cart full of dolls and the two rabbit ear hats that she asked Chi Yan to grab and said, “We each get one of these, and split the rest.”

“Okay,” Chi Yan agreed, then went to the front desk to buy shopping bags and put all the dolls in them.

Chi Yan carried two bags of dolls, while Shang Lu walked alongside him, editing the photos she had just taken on her phone, and proudly posted a moment on her social media.

Lin Yanyan was the first to comment.

[Ah, they’re so cute! I want some too!]

Shang Lu naturally replied to her : [Choose whatever you like.]

Chi Yan and Shang Lu arrived at Shang Lu’s home first and placed all the dolls on the sofa.

Shang Lu first picked out the small dog that Lin Yanyan had chosen, then looked at Chi Yan and said, “It’s your turn.”

Chi Yan was not polite with her either and picked up the white rabbit that Shang Lu had first caught.

The two of them really ended taking turns to pick and share these stuffed animals.

Shang Lu wore the rabbit ear plush hat and took a selfie with her favorite white bear, then looked at Chi Yan and said, “I didn’t expect you to really like these. I thought you would act all cool and say ‘who wants this childish stuff’ and give them all to me.”

“No way,” Chi Yan replied, picking up the rabbit and taking a photo with it. “I put in a lot of effort too.”

“Of course,” this time it was Shang Lu’s turn to compliment Chi Yan “Young Master Chi is truly talented, with extraordinary skills. You’re unbeatable at every arcade game.”

“You’ve got good taste,” Chi Yan said as he threw the rabbit into his own bag, then waved to Shang Lu. “Come here.”

Shang Lu wasn’t sure what Chi Yan was up to, but she went over and saw him grab the rabbit ears on her hat and lift them up, just like he did with the rabbit, and took another photo with her.

Shang Lu immediately sat up straight and glared at him, saying, “Chi! Yan! Are you being childish or what!”

Chi Yan, on the other hand, leaned back on the couch and lazily smiled at her. “Don’t be mad, Young Lady Shang. I’ll let you grab mine too, so we’re even.”

Chi Yan followed through on his words and took out another rabbit ear hat from the bag, put it on his head, and then raised his phone, signaling Shang Lu.

Shang Lu felt that Chi Yan had a point and reached out to grab the rabbit ears on his head, deliberately making a fierce expression for the camera.

Soon, Shang Lu received two photos from Chi Yan.

She casually saved them and then suddenly remembered, “Chi Yan, come to think of it, we’ve known each other for so long, and this seems to be the first time we’ve taken photos together.”

“That’s not necessarily true,” Chi Yan replied.

Shang Lu sat cross-legged on the couch, thought for a moment, leaned back a bit, and turned to look at Chi Yan. “I remember now, there were our graduation photos, right? But what I meant was a solo photo of just the two of us, this is the first time, right?”

Chi Yan didn’t answer that question. His hand rested on the edge of the couch, and her long hair fell between his index finger.

He didn’t withdraw his hand, but he was afraid of being noticed by her.

He wanted to get closer again, but he stopped here.

Just like every day and night before.

In high school, during a school event, as soon as he got on the bus, he heard a burst of sigh, and the eyes of the surrounding students were all focused on her.

And she, because her eyes were red from being wronged by Jiang Yi, didn’t even dare to speak loudly.

He sat beside her, trying to shield her from those malicious glances, giving her a quiet space to shed tears.

Later, the journey became too long, and she fell asleep by the window while crying.

That was the first time Chi Yan became acutely aware of his selfishness.

Because he quietly put his arm around Shang Lu’s shoulder, letting her lean on his shoulder, and when she woke up, he deliberately put on a reluctant expression.

That summer, his young heart stirred.

While everyone else was resting, he hastily took the first photo of her and him together.

He had once hoped that time could forever stay in that summer.

Now he was grateful that everything didn’t really stay in that summer.

Shang Lu reached out and pulled on his rabbit ear, and couldn’t help but touch his furry hat. She said earnestly, “Chi Yan, today was supposed to be a very happy day for me, but then I got a little upset. But fortunately, you appeared and gave my day a perfect ending, so in the end, I feel happy again.”

She didn’t know why she had to say these things, but she just felt that seeing Chi Yan on this day, she was very happy and relieved.

Chi Yan lowered his head slightly, and handed his head, along with the hat he was wearing, to Shang Lu’s hand, saying, “Then I hope you will always be happier than today.”
