Please Like Her 01 – “I really want to forgive you, Brother.”

The elevator doors opened.

Shang Lu wanted to enter when she saw Chi Yan holding a bag and about to walk out.

Chi Yan was about to say something, but when he saw the figure at the door, he frowned and asked, “Shang Mu is here again?”

“Yeah,” Shang Lu replied with a hint of reluctance, her gaze falling on the bag that Chi Yan was holding. She asked, “Are these desserts?”

Chi Yan was slightly surprised and said, “You can smell it again?”

Shang Lu nodded and praised, “It smells amazing.”

“Just some failed attempts,” Chi Yan said, and then added, “I just made some fresh ones, there’s one that looks decent. Do you want to have some?”

A hesitant expression appeared on Shang Lu’s face as she replied, “I already swore last time that I would always remember that I’m an actress, so—”

“What flavor is the cake you made?” Shang Lu asked.

Chiyue answered, “It’s a two-layer mango and Oreo filling.”

Shang Lu said, “Alright, I’ll go to your place and wait for you.”

It was a flavor she liked, so she decided to give up resistance in just a second.

Tomorrow! Tomorrow she will definitely remember that she’s an actress! 🥺

Shang Lu had just returned after eating, and after finishing a piece of cake, she looked at Chi Yan.

Chi Yan was also looking at her.

Shang Lu couldn’t help but burp.

Chi Yan pursed his lips and tried hard not to laugh.

“If you want to laugh, go ahead,” Shang Lu said, then stood up and asked, “Did you walk the dogs? If you haven’t, I can do it for you. It’ll help with digestion.”

“It’s a bit early, they both like going out late at night,” Chi Yan said, but then suggested a new solution to Shang Lu, “There’s a mall about two kilometers from here, and it has the largest arcade in the capital. I heard they have hundreds of claw machines. Want to go and see who’s better?”

“Huh?” Shang Lu looked at Chi Yan, crossed her arms, and asked, “Does Young Master Chi also like playing with dolls?”

Chi Yan casually replied, “It’s not a matter of dolls, it’s a matter of wanting to crush you.”

This statement did trigger Shang Lu’s competitive spirit, and she said directly, “Alright, let’s go, we’ll see who’s better!”

Shang Lu, fully armed, followed Chi Yan into the mall and entered the arcade on the fifth floor.

Both of them bought one hundred game tokens and split them evenly.

The claw machine cost two tokens per play, which meant each of them had twenty-five chances.

Shang Lu confidently said, “Let me show you what talent looks like.”

Chi Yan said casually, “Let’s let our skills do the talking.”

They glanced at each other and simultaneously inserted their tokens into the game machines, gripping the joysticks.

Fifteen minutes later.

The competition was intense, with both players neck and neck, chasing each other’s scores, and the score remained—

0-0.

Shang Lu : “…”

Chi Yan : “…”

Both of them fell into silence simultaneously.

Why is this so hard?

If I had known earlier, I wouldn’t have come.

If I had known earlier, I wouldn’t have brought her here.

But fate had chosen to embarrass them at this moment.

Two elementary school kids happily walked past them, each holding a bunch of dolls that looked almost too many to carry. They had even brought a small trolley to carry the dolls, and they continued to go for more dolls.

—The elementary school students have all the happiness, while the two adults have nothing.

Shang Lu and Chi Yan exchanged glances, showing great tacit understanding, and decided to follow the two elementary school students.

They kept a distance of a few meters and secretly watched the two elementary school students in action.

Shang Lu was puzzled, “So why don’t we just approach them openly and watch?”

Chi Yan replied confidently, “This is called learning through observation.”

Five minutes later.

Chi Yan asked again, “Did you understand what they’re doing?”

Shang Lu replied, “It’s too far, I can’t see clearly at all.”

Chi Yan said, “Well then, let’s go and learn directly from them.”

So in the end, the two of them approached the children together.

Chi Yan asked, “Kids, can you tell us if there’s a technique for winning at claw machines?”

Shang Lu nodded and praised, “You two are really skilled.”

The two young students were very generous and agreed to teach them.

So Chi Yan turned around and bought two baskets full of game coins.

He handed one of the baskets to the two elementary school students with a serious expression, saying, “This is our tuition fee, please accept it, Masters.”

The two students found Chi Yan’s ‘sincerity’ quite generous and proceeded to demonstrate and provide guidance to them, one by one.

“Move the joystick left, right, left, right, then down, down, and press the button twice.”

“Pay attention to shaking the claw and changing its angle.”

Shang Lu and Chi Yan both had very serious expressions, nodding continuously as they followed along with every instruction from the two young students.

After their teaching was complete, one of them said, “Give it a try, and let us see.”

Shang Lu picked up two game coins and couldn’t help but smile a little. She said, “Chi Yan, why do I suddenly feel a bit nervous?”

Chi Yan replied, “Because this feels like a test in class.”

Shang Lu agreed with Chi Yan’s reasoning. After inserting the two game coins, she grasped the joystick, her mind filled with the recently learned techniques.

However, she pressed the button a bit too slowly when pressing the button the second time. The claw had already grabbed the doll, but it dropped back down halfway.

Chi Yan was in a similar situation. He had almost successfully delivered the doll to the hole but missed it at the last moment.

Both of them failed again.
