Wen Le of Rebirth in the End Times (BL) – Chapter 25 Future in Snow

Under the continuous snowfall, Wen Le and Xiao Wen held hands and looked at the mountains in the distance through the falling snow. Turning around, they looked towards the direction of M City, where there was only endless white snow, without the black smoke emitted by industrial areas, nor the airplanes flying across the sky. The whole world was covered in white snow.

“I can’t feel that I’m alive…” Wen Le said dazedly.

Xiao Wen tightened the grip on their hands.

“Do you think that it’s because of human actions that nature is angry? Look, the end of the world has come, yet the sky is still the sky, the earth is still the earth, and the snow is still the snow. Nothing has changed except for humans…” Wen Le said to themselves, looking a bit lost with the white snow reflecting in their eyes.

Xiao Wen suddenly pulled Wen Le, and they crashed into his arms.

The endless white easily reflected the loneliness of being isolated from the world, and Wen Le was somewhat affected.

This collision brought Wen Le back to their senses, and they were afraid of their previous reaction.

“It’s alright, I’m here.” Xiao Wen hugged Wen Le and whispered in their ear.

Wen Le collected themselves and nodded. They were just being irrational.

“Look, no matter what humans have done, the sky is still the sky, the earth is still the earth. Even though we have lost so many humans, we are still alive, right? Nature is still kind. Maybe this snow, this white that clears everything, is giving us a chance to start anew, to begin a new journey. Perhaps this is the end of the world that nature has given us, a reshuffling of the deck, but apoclypse is not the end of days. It allowed us to survive, so we must try to live.” Xiao Wen rested their chin on Wen Le’s shoulder, looking into the distance and speaking softly.

“Yes, nature has given us a chance.” Wen Le pressed their face against Xiao Wen’s cheek.

“Not just us, but all the survivors,” Xiao Wen said, and Wen Le’s gaze dimmed.

“But not all the survivors can survive. Too many people have been mentally defeated by this disaster, allowing all kinds of acts to occur without restraint. Without any constraints, without any bottom line, that is the true disaster.”

“Then we’ll make new rules, new bottom lines,” Xiao Wen said nonchalantly, stealing a kiss while he was at it.

Wen Le pushed him away. “Are you playing house? They can bomb you with one plane!”

Listening to Wen Le’s sarcastic tone, Xiao Wen smiled. Should he praise his Le Le for guessing correctly?

Wen Le furrowed her brow and exclaimed, “Are you just playing house? A single airplane could bomb you to smithereens1!”

“Baby, airplanes can’t take off now,” Xiao Wen replied.

Wen Le was exasperated, “But what if they use the tactic of overwhelming force?”

“You said it yourself, many soldiers have become political pawns,” Xiao Wen argued.

“They’re willing participants. Orders are orders, and they can’t disobey,” Wen Le countered.

“Then we’ll just have to rescue them before they follow those orders,” Xiao Wen suggested.

“And how are you going to take on the government?” Wen Le asked.

“The government isn’t taking care of them, but we will. We’ll protect them from political sacrifice. They’re people too,” Xiao Wen said, looking at Wen Le.

“You can’t be serious,” Wen Le said, dumbfounded.

Xiao Wen raised an eyebrow, “Baby, I’m not joking.”

Wen Le was at a loss for words and just stared at Xiao Wen. Xiao Wen thought he looked adorable and pulled him in for a kiss while squeezing his perty little butt.

Wen Le didn’t even notice Xiao Wen’s movements as he was lost in thought, thinking he must be insane. He shook himself out of his daze and pushed himself away from him.

“You’re going against the government,” Wen Le said, his voice shaking.

“I’m trying to save people,” Xiao Wen replied.

Wen Le choked up. Okay, he was trying to save people.

“We don’t have weapons or armored vehicles,” Wen Le said.

“Trust me, there are plenty of weapons and armored vehicles the government isn’t paying attention to right now,” Xiao Wen replied confidently.

“We can’t afford to support all these people,” Wen Le pointed out.

“You have plenty of food in your space,” Xiao Wen said.

Wen Le was going crazy, “That’s only enough to last for a few years!”

“One year is enough, they will be able to grow it themselves.”

“The world is full of zombies, there’s nowhere to grow!”

“Baby, there’s a lot of empty land now, just clear out the zombies and we’re good.”

“We’re already so busy, how do we have time to plan and organize?!”

“We have Han Ya.”

Wen Le was too tired to argue anymore, and weakly raised a hand to ask, “When did you come up with this idea?”

Xiao Wen calmly smiled and said, “Just now.”

Wen Le wanted to slap himself.

He had let Xiao Wen out to wander around, let him see the snowy scenery, and now he had gone crazy!

Normally, he was quite mindful of rural issues, why did he become so artsy now?! This was bad, if Xiao Wen really implemented this, and the government caught on, there would be nowhere to cry!

Xiao Wen picked up the helpless Wen Le and ran back to the cave.

Actually, the idea only came to him when he was looking at the vast expanse of white snow just now. After being questioned by Wen Le, he felt that the feasibility of the idea was quite high. He had to discuss it with Han Ya.

The two of them ignored Yin Chengyang, who was shoveling snow and complaining, at the entrance of the cave. He had just been beaten up by Han Ya, and now that he saw Xiao Wen and Wen Le return, the atmosphere of grievance around him became even stronger.

…No one is comforting me…

Xiao Wen put Wen Le in the bed and grabbed Han Ya to whisper to him.

Wen Le couldn’t see the amazed and admiring eyes of Huang Tao and Huang Yao, nor could he see the curious looks of others. He was still immersed in his crazy thoughts.

Li Yan, who had witnessed Wen Le conjuring up a bunch of things with a wave of his hand, was now admiring him, and also a little afraid, as he looked at Wen Le lying in bed. He was holding the little white rabbit given to him by Grandpa Mo, and he approached Wen Le carefully. Seeing that Wen Le didn’t react, as if he was pondering something very serious, Li Yan didn’t disturb him. He obediently cuddled the rabbit and snuggled up to Wen Le, fell asleep after yawning.

Mo Yan and Zhou Quan looked at Xiao Wen, then at Wen Le, and their eyelids twitched as they looked at each other. They both thought: the days of driving around and killing zombies may never come back…

Uncle Mo looked at the silent performance of these people and found it somewhat amusing. He turned around and continued to tidy up the things that suddenly piled up before Wen Le arrived, and planned the space in the cave with Huang Tao and Huang Yao.

It just so happened that Huang Yao had earth-based abilities, so she built a few earth walls to separate the entire cave. The place to eat, sleep, and use the bathroom had to be separated, and with both men and women present, it was not good to sleep together casually like the night before.
