Chapter 240- The Black-Bellied Demon Cultivator’s Senior Brother VS The Righteous Young Junior Brother (5)
Ning Yizhou was momentarily stunned, wondering why the person in front of him reacted that way to his usually flawless smile. Little did he know that Mu Jin was also feeling conflicted.
Mu Jin struggled to keep from twitching as he watched the white tiger baring its teeth. He knew that the white tiger was his lover, but why was it suddenly showing its teeth at him? Surely it wasn’t trying to show off how white its teeth were!
Fortunately, Ning Yizhou quickly realized that he was still in his white tiger form, so it was no wonder the boy beside him seemed frightened. Feeling a bit defeated, the white tiger took one last longing glance at the deliciously fragrant roasted boar leg, debating whether to leave so as not to scare the boy.
Just as he was about to turn and walk away, he heard the young man call out, “Um, do you want to try some roasted boar leg?”
Hearing Mu Jin’s words, Ning Yizhou immediately halted in his tracks. He turned his head and saw that Mu Jin was indeed nervously watching him.
This boy was braver than most, actually daring to ask if he wanted some roasted boar leg.
Though he could see that Mu Jin was still nervous, compared to those who would run away at the sight of his true form, Ning Yizhou couldn’t help but feel a bit more admiration for him.
So, he quietly lay down on the spot, his eyes fixed intently on the deliciously roasted boar leg.
When Mu Jin saw the white tiger stay put, he lowered his head slightly to hide the smile in his eyes. He hadn’t expected his lover in this life to be such a foodie; it seemed he was right to put extra effort into his cooking.
Having traveled through so many worlds and tasted so many delicacies, Mu Jin wasn’t just good at eating. To be honest, his cooking skills surpassed even those of palace chefs.
Mu Jin felt that his efforts had paid off as he looked at the materials he had painstakingly gathered and used on this boar leg. The aroma alone made it clear that the boar leg would be delicious—so much so that even his lover had been drawn in.
After some time, the boar leg was finally done roasting. Mu Jin took out two large leaves he had previously gathered, carefully placed the roasted leg on them, and then called to the white tiger beside him, “It’s ready. You can eat now.”
He then watched as the white tiger lazily stood up, walked over to the boar leg, and began eating with satisfaction.
As he expected, the taste was excellent. The aroma was unique, likely due not only to the fruit but also to other spices he had used. Ning Yizhou was pleasantly surprised, realizing that the boy he had saved on a whim had such impressive skills. This meal made him feel that rescuing Mu Jin was definitely worth it. The white tiger narrowed his eyes in delight and ate with even more enjoyment.
After a few bites, the boy beside him seemed pleased and spoke up, “You really can understand me. Thank you for saving me earlier.”
Of course, the white tiger didn’t respond to Mu Jin’s words but merely glanced at him. Seeing the genuine gratitude in Mu Jin’s eyes, Ning Yizhou paused for a moment before lowering his head to continue devouring the boar leg, feeling even better than before.
While the boar leg was quite substantial for Mu Jin, it was merely an appetizer for a large white tiger. So, he quickly finished it and then immediately left.
Mu Jin had hoped to exchange a few words with his lover after he finished eating. However, to his surprise, the white tiger left right after finishing the boar leg without even leaving a piece for him.
Mu Jin pouted in frustration, but in his heart, he knew that seeing his lover was more important than getting an extra piece of meat. Besides, the man had saved him, so he decided to consider the boar leg as his token of gratitude. Thinking this, Mu Jin felt a warm sweetness inside.
Just as he was about to get up and leave, the white tiger returned, carrying the uncooked boar he had previously offered. The tiger dropped the boar at Mu Jin’s feet.
Mu Jin blinked in surprise, quickly understanding his lover’s intention. He couldn’t help but smile to himself. Nodding toward the white tiger, he cheerfully reignited the fire and began roasting the meat with great care.
While Mu Jin was busy grilling, the white tiger lay quietly beside him, resting with its eyes closed. Occasionally, it would peek at the roasting meat, looking eager and expectant.
In truth, Ning Yizhou felt a bit embarrassed. The earlier boar leg had been so delicious that he had devoured it in just a few bites without realizing it. Now, in his large tiger form, he understood that he had eaten all the meat Mu Jin had saved for himself.
Although the taste was exceptional and he was very satisfied, Ning Yizhou couldn’t shake the small pang of guilt for finishing all the food without leaving any for the boy beside him.
Remembering how the boy had skillfully processed the entire boar and left the best part for him, Ning Yizhou decided to bring the rest of the boar back so they could enjoy a meal together.
Thankfully, this little guy was truly special, showing no fear of his tiger form. Watching Mu Jin diligently roast the meat, Ning Yizhou narrowed his eyes contentedly and stretched lazily. He couldn’t help but think that an afternoon like this, picnicking in the woods, was a wonderfully pleasant and relaxing way to spend time.
The wild boar that the white tiger brought over was quite large, but before grilling, Mu Jin had thoughtfully set up several additional grills. As a result, he managed to cook all the meat in a relatively short time, ensuring that it was just as fresh and flavorful.
He gathered a few large leaves, laid the cooked pork on them, and then looked at the white tiger with eager anticipation. Seeing all the meat laid out in front of him, with Mu Jin beside him, eyes full of expectation, the white tiger’s mood lifted even more.
The tiger swiftly grabbed a large leaf with its paw, tore off a boar leg, and placed it on the leaf. After letting out a low growl toward Mu Jin, he began to focus on devouring the boar in front of him.
Mu Jin was delighted that his lover remembered to save some food for him. When the white tiger wasn’t paying attention, his gaze grew even more tender as he looked at him.
As for the fact that the boar leg had been torn off with the tiger’s mouth—this was his lover, after all. How could Mu Jin possibly mind? He had been looking forward to this meal since the meat started roasting, so he quickly grabbed the boar leg and began eating it with large bites.
The pork, infused with the fruity aroma of the juices, had a sweet and tangy taste, enhanced by the special spices Mu Jin had found. Each bite was fragrant and delicious, with the meat juices bursting in his mouth.
Moreover, the pork still carried some spiritual energy, which made Mu Jin feel particularly comfortable after eating it. He chewed enthusiastically, his eyes narrowing in contentment. After going so long without a proper meal, the delicious meat made him feel so satisfied that he wished he could swallow his tongue along with it.
The white tiger, while eating the boar meat in front of him, discreetly glanced at Mu Jin beside him. Seeing that Mu Jin wasn’t afraid of him and was instead chomping down on the meat with his cheeks puffed up like a little hamster, a glimmer of warmth flashed in Ning Yizhou’s eyes. He thought to himself that this little fellow looked truly adorable while eating.
The white tiger quickly finished off the remaining wild boar. Then, leisurely, he returned to the cave entrance where he had been sunbathing earlier, closed his eyes, and started to doze off. As for Mu Jin, after eating such a large boar leg, he was quite full and satisfied.
Mu Jin walked over to the stream to wash his greasy hands and mouth. Seeing the white tiger resting so comfortably, he smiled. Though he felt reluctant to leave, he ultimately decided to turn around and go.
Meeting his lover before ascending the Zongyun Ladder was already an unexpected joy. After all, the white tiger was a fierce beast, and though Mu Jin’s lack of fear was somewhat unconventional, staying any longer and trying to engage in conversation would have been too strange, completely out of the ordinary.
So, without lingering, he took one last, lingering look at his beloved before turning away and heading back to tend to his vegetable garden.
However, as the saying goes, once something happens, it’s likely to happen again. With some time left before the Zongyun Ladder ascended, Mu Jin found himself unable to forget about his encounter with his lover—not just because of the roasted boar, but because he missed him.
The next day, after finishing his work in the garden, Mu Jin headed back to the forest early, hoping to possibly meet his lover again. Catching some wild game to improve his meals was secondary; the real goal was to have another chance encounter with his beloved.
Unfortunately, upon arriving, Mu Jin didn’t see any sign of the white tiger. Though a bit disappointed, he reassured himself that it was normal not to see him and adjusted his mindset. He grabbed his bow and arrow, intending to hunt for some small prey. To his surprise, he managed to catch a passing wild rabbit.
Just as he was eagerly preparing to roast the rabbit, he turned around to see the white tiger strolling leisurely toward him once again.
When the human and the tiger met again, both were momentarily stunned. Mu Jin, feeling happy, smiled at the white tiger in front of him, then picked up the wild rabbit and moved aside to gather firewood and set up a roasting rack.
Seeing Mu Jin’s actions, the white tiger immediately understood that he was preparing to cook again. With a quick leap, the tiger disappeared into the forest. Mu Jin didn’t pay much attention to this, but before long, the tiger returned, carrying a sizeable wild deer in its jaws. Mu Jin couldn’t help but feel a sense of confirmation in his heart.
Recalling how the white tiger devoured the meat the day before, Mu Jin realized his lover must have really enjoyed his cooking. He hadn’t expected that today, the white tiger would take the initiative to hunt a deer and bring it back, clearly wanting him to prepare it.
Mu Jin was more than willing to oblige. In fact, he was quite happy to do so. While in many worlds, his lover often took charge in the kitchen, there were also plenty of times when Mu Jin cooked for him.
In Mu Jin’s heart, two people in love should take care of each other, and he always found joy in doing things for his man. Just the thought of his lover enjoying the meals he prepared brought a deep sense of satisfaction.
As Mu Jin worked hard to prepare the deer, the white tiger simply watched without interfering. Though several months had passed since they first met, the young man’s health seemed to have improved significantly. Though still petite and somewhat slender, it was clear that he was in good shape.
The white tiger had already witnessed Mu Jin’s agility when he encountered that wild boar. If it hadn’t been for the boar’s sheer size, the tiger wouldn’t have felt the need to intervene.
