Chapter 239- The Black-Bellied Demon Cultivator’s Senior Brother VS The Righteous Young Junior Brother (4)
However, a massive figure soon appeared before him. It wasn’t the gentle, immortal-like man from the original owner’s memories, but rather an enormous white tiger.
The white tiger let out a low growl, clearly uninterested in the wild boar. The boar, terrified by the sight of the tiger, tried to retreat, but the tiger wasn’t about to let it escape. With a powerful swipe of its huge paw, the tiger crushed the boar’s skull.
After the boar died, the tiger looked at its bloodied paw and wiped it on the ground. For some reason, Mu Jin thought he could almost see a look of disdain on the tiger’s face, as if it were annoyed by the blood.
The white tiger then cast a casual glance at Mu Jin and strolled away leisurely.
Mu Jin was astonished but quickly realized that this was his lover. In this life, his lover was a demon cultivator, and his true form was a white tiger. Although he felt a bit disappointed not to see him in human form, seeing his true form was still quite impressive.
After all, he was his man, and Mu Jin thought he looked exceptionally majestic and handsome. The tiger’s sleek fur made Mu Jin feel an irresistible urge to rush over and pet the big cat. Especially the tiger’s ostentatious stride made Mu Jin find him irresistibly adorable.
Of course, if anyone else knew that Mu Jin described this massive tiger as “cute,” they would probably think he was insane.
Seeing his beloved, Mu Jin’s mood greatly improved. However, he was also aware that due to previous complications, his lover might no longer feel the same initial affection. Nevertheless, he was determined to be close to him.
Finally seeing him, Mu Jin longed to rush into his arms. Unfortunately, since they had just met in this life, he wasn’t sure if Ning Yizhou would even remember saving a mortal.
But considering that Ning Yizhou had saved him twice, including the original owner’s life, Mu Jin felt that such a debt of gratitude deserved reciprocation. They were indeed destined for each other. With that thought, Mu Jin felt a surge of happiness. He glanced at the dead boar with a smirk and followed the white tiger from a distance.
After walking a few steps, Mu Jin realized that there was a cave not far from where he was. He wondered why he hadn’t noticed it earlier.
The white tiger soon arrived at the cave and was now lying lazily at the entrance, basking in the sun. The way it squinted its eyes in comfort made Mu Jin wish he could join it and sunbathe as well.
The appearance of his lover’s true form was quite similar to how he looked before, except he no longer had the golden dragon horns and wings.
Knowing where his beloved was resting, Mu Jin felt relieved. He quickly ran back to the wild boar, struggling to drag the massive beast to the edge of the water. He then pulled out a small knife from his pocket and began to process the freshly killed prey.
After some effort, Mu Jin managed to skin the boar. Having traveled through many worlds, he was quite skilled at handling such tasks.
The white tiger, noticing Mu Jin’s actions, didn’t seem to mind. After all, he had no intention of eating the boar. Seeing the bow and arrow in Mu Jin’s hand, he assumed the human was here to hunt.
The taste of this wild boar was quite good, and the animals living at the foot of Qingyun Mountain often had some spiritual energy, making them much better than food from ordinary environments.
Ning Yizhou had excellent eyesight and could clearly see Mu Jin’s every move from his spot at the cave entrance. He vaguely remembered seeing a youth on the brink of death before and then bringing him back.
Although he wasn’t inclined to involve himself in such matters, the youth’s face had seemed somewhat familiar to him, prompting him to lend a hand.
Anyway, Ning Yizhou had always maintained this kind of persona within the Qingliu Sect. Occasionally involving himself in such minor matters could actually benefit his reputation, so he didn’t mind giving the young man a bit of help.
However, he didn’t expect to encounter him again today. The area of the forest where he was had no dangerous animals due to his presence. It was surprising that the young man still encountered such a large wild boar while hunting. It was unclear whether this was bad luck for the young man or for the wild boar.
What surprised Ning Yizhou even more was that the young man was processing the boar here. Did he not notice that he was a massive white tiger? Was he not afraid that Ning Yizhou might impulsively devour him?
After thinking about it for a while, Ning Yizhou didn’t want to dwell on it and instead focused on sunbathing. His master was rarely away, so he had the chance to sneak out from Chuan Yun Peak.
Though he was currently undercover in the Qingliu Sect, Ning Yizhou was not interested in managing such trivial matters. Moreover, demons didn’t need to put much effort into cultivation; simply absorbing spiritual energy was sufficient.
Ning Yizhou enjoyed not only absorbing spiritual energy but also the aroma of the mountains and forests. He had saved the young man initially because the boy’s aura seemed to carry a soothing wood element, which he found pleasant.
However, the wood element’s aura on the young man seemed even more pronounced now. Demons had keen senses of smell, and Ning Yizhou felt that the young man’s scent had changed. It now had a slightly bitter, lotus-leaf aroma mixed with the fragrance of plants, which was refreshing and familiar.
He really liked this smell and found it very pleasant. If he weren’t afraid of frightening the young man, he would have liked to get closer and take a good sniff.
Unfortunately, in a few days, when the Zong Yun Ladder opened, his master Luo Kangde would return. At that point, he would have to stay within the Qingliu Sect and wouldn’t be able to come down to the mountain to enjoy the sun every day.
He just couldn’t understand it—how could being human be more comfortable than staying in his true form? Though humans occupy many resources and have high demands, they generally coexist peacefully. The number of demons isn’t as large as that of humans, which keeps things balanced. So, he couldn’t figure out what had gotten into the Demon Lord.
Ning Yizhou had no interest in power struggles. As far as he was concerned, he’d much rather stay in his cave and live a laid-back life. With time to spare, he’d rather enjoy some good food, take a nice nap, and bask in the sun—much more satisfying and carefree than getting involved in those matters.
However, no matter how much he grumbled, he only dared to do so in his thoughts. After all, his current cultivation level was only at the Nascent Soul stage, and he couldn’t defeat that old guy. Otherwise, if it were up to him, he wouldn’t have agreed to this mission in the first place. But once he reaches the Divine Transformation stage, no one will be able to order him around.
As Ning Yizhou pondered, his tiger tail rhythmically tapped the ground behind him. He squinted his eyes and basked in the sun, letting his thoughts drift away.
When he finally snapped back to reality, he wasn’t sure how much time had passed. He then noticed that the little fellow by the river seemed to have finished processing the wild boar. The young man left behind one of the boar’s legs and was now struggling to drag the remaining meat toward Ning Yizhou’s cave.
The white tiger watched Mu Jin with some curiosity, roughly guessing what he intended to do. However, when Mu Jin actually dragged the processed wild boar right up to him, Ning Yizhou was momentarily stunned.
He hadn’t expected the young man to really offer the boar to him. He saw the little guy cautiously watching him, then quickly leaving with the boar leg while abandoning the rest of the boar, which had already been skinned and gutted.
Ning Yizhou looked at the prepared boar and felt a bit at a loss. Although he was a tiger demon, he had long since taken on a human form and didn’t eat raw food anymore.
He preferred food that had been seasoned and cooked. So, having someone suddenly gift him a bloody wild boar wasn’t exactly appealing.
Besides, he had plenty of spirit stones, and it was easy for him to go down the mountain and enjoy some fine food. He didn’t really need this wild boar. Still, he was somewhat surprised that the young man had given most of the boar to him—showing a sense of gratitude.
Despite this, Ning Yizhou wasn’t interested in the wild boar meat and continued to lounge leisurely. But after a while, he caught a whiff of roasting meat wafting from nearby.
Whatever the young man was using to cook, it smelled incredibly good—so tempting that Ning Yizhou couldn’t help but feel his appetite stir. Curious, he got up and walked toward the source of the delicious aroma. Before long, he saw the little guy he had helped earlier roasting the wild boar leg he had kept for himself.
He had seen others roast meat before—whenever they went on expeditions to secret realms, they often camped outdoors, and those who didn’t like fasting pills would prepare their own food. Some were even particular enough to bring a variety of seasonings with them.
But never had he encountered meat that emitted such an enticing aroma. The white tiger swallowed, unable to resist moving a bit closer for a better look.
He then noticed that the young man was holding several small fruits. Ning Yizhou had seen these fruits in the forest before—they were quite sour. Yet, when squeezed onto the wild boar leg, they released a fruity fragrance that made the meat smell even more appetizing.
Unable to contain himself, the white tiger stepped out from behind the tree, his eyes fixed on the roasted boar leg in front of him. He licked his lips, his longing for the meat blatantly obvious.
Even though he had tasted plenty of fine food over the years, this aromatic roast made him eager to try it. Ning Yizhou was never one to deprive himself, and he even considered that since he had saved the young man’s life, maybe he could hint at wanting some of the roasted meat.
However, when he turned to the young man, intending to flash his usual charming smile, he noticed that the boy had tensed up the moment he looked in his direction.
