Chapter 140 – Violent Useless vs. Delicate Cat (20)
Afterward, as the Qi family was about to take action, they were approached by people sent by the Mu family. It was as if these soul power clans, such as the Qi family, all knew about the Mu family.
Even though the Mu family had always kept a low profile over the years, they were incredibly powerful. In fact, if the original leader hadn’t died, he would definitely have been considered a hidden boss. What the original leader thought of as decline was merely a lack of talented soul power practitioners to succeed him.
The Qi family, whether in business, soul power, or other aspects, was no match for the Mu family. In this world of soul power families, most still respected the strong. Qi Xi, the eldest young master of the Qi family, had never really suffered any significant setbacks except with Yan Yang. However, this time he was severely injured and even reprimanded by his father. They also warned him never to provoke a person named Mu Jin, as he was not someone they could afford to offend.
Seeing the stern expressions on his father and grandfather’s faces, Qi Xi realized the gravity of the situation. He reluctantly kept quiet, swallowing his anger.
However, in his heart, he resented Yan Yang even more, believing that everything was his fault. If it hadn’t been for him, he wouldn’t have ended up in such a sorry state.
After this incident, those who used to look at Mu Jin with jealousy no longer dared to do so. Even Qi Xi had to swallow his pride, indicating that Mu Jin was no ordinary person. The rest of them couldn’t possibly be a match for Mu Jin.
That evening, after school, Mu Jin and Yan Yang walked home hand in hand, looking extremely close. Yan Yang didn’t mind the looks from others, as he had already chosen Mu Jin as his partner.
With his heart set, the young man stopped worrying about trivial matters. All that mattered was that the person beside him was his most cherished “little cat,” and what others thought was irrelevant.
The two chatted and laughed along the way. Mu Jin teasingly remarked that he never expected Yan Lexin to stand up and speak for him at a crucial moment.
Yan Yang was also a bit surprised by this. He recalled an earlier incident when he encountered Yan Zhengqing, who seemed to want to harm him, but Yan Lexin and Yan Xiao somehow intervened and helped him avoid the situation.
Initially, he thought it was just a casual act from Yan Lexin, but today’s event suggested otherwise. He wondered why she had helped him, but since he couldn’t find an answer, he decided to let it go for now.
When they got home, after sending Mu Jin to his room, Yan Yang went to the kitchen to get some food for dinner. There, he encountered Yan Lexin, who had just placed down a jar of dried fish.
Yan Yang looked at the jar of dried fish on the table, then at the startled Yan Lexin, and paused for a moment.
Yan Lexin blushed when she realized that she had been caught putting the dried fish there, and Yan Yang, slightly surprised, asked, “Were you the one leaving these dried fish here?”
Yan Lexin’s face turned even redder. She hesitated for a while before responding, “No! It’s for the little cat! Now, move aside!”
With that, she quickly left the kitchen. However, just a few steps outside, she heard Yan Yang’s voice from behind, saying, “Thank you.”
Yan Lexin paused, thinking she must have misheard. How could the person who always looked down on her say thank you? She turned around, still in disbelief, and saw Yan Yang, the tall young man, furrowing his brows, as he repeated, “Thank you for what you did at school today.” He then picked up two packs of dried fish and other food and left.
Yan Lexin remembered the awkward look on her second brother’s face as he thanked her. Watching him walk away, she smirked and turned around, leaving with a happier heart.
Mu Jin had initially followed Yan Yang as a cat just for fun, but he unexpectedly witnessed this scene. Seeing the awkward interaction between the two half-siblings, Mu Jin thought that despite their differences, they had some things in common. He was surprised to find out that the dried fish he loved so much had been prepared by Yan Lexin, indicating that she had a soft spot for cats.
Since Mu Jin had been keeping track of what had been happening with the Yan family, he knew that some unpleasant things had occurred recently. However, realizing that this girl was nicer than he had expected, he didn’t mind lending her a helping hand.
After all, without him as a golden finger, Yan Xiao’s rise to power might not have been as quick. Yan Lexin might not have easily avoided certain misfortunes as in the original timeline.
That night, after dinner, Mu Jin used his soul power to help Yan Yang clear his meridians. Soon after, Yan Yang’s condition significantly improved.
As the person directly involved, Yan Yang could feel the change more acutely and felt deeply grateful to Mu Jin.
Mu Jin knew that Yan Yang had been pushed to undergo a lot of training, but some training could be counterproductive if it wasn’t suitable for him. Perhaps what he needed was a good teacher.
So, Mu Jin sat upright and seriously asked Yan Yang if he was willing to learn from him, offering to teach him how to rapidly increase his soul power.
Yan Yang was delighted to hear Mu Jin’s offer. He was well aware that Mu Jin’s abilities surpassed his own. Although having his significant other as his teacher felt a bit awkward, he knew that the little guy was only looking out for him.
Seeing the little cat’s round, babyish face speaking so seriously, Yan Yang couldn’t help but find him incredibly cute. He leaned in to kiss Mu Jin’s lips, his eyes growing deeper with affection.
The sudden kiss left Mu Jin a bit stunned, wondering why his lover suddenly went rogue when they were discussing something serious. He quickly pushed Yan Yang’s face away, like a cat would, and said with a flushed face, “I’m talking about serious stuff here. Are you going to learn from me or not?”
Yan Yang didn’t seem to mind Mu Jin pushing his face away. Instead, he held Mu Jin’s hand and kissed the back of it, looking at him tenderly. “Of course I’m going to learn, my kitty teacher.”
The deep voice in his ear and the intense gaze made Mu Jin’s ears turn red.
This is too much!
Mu Jin inwardly groaned, thinking about how, ever since he arrived in this world, he had seen Yan Yang’s awkwardness, but had never experienced him being so passionate. It was enough to make his heart flutter and give him an impulse to pounce on his lover.
Seeing how Yan Yang had been exuding pheromones since they confirmed their relationship, Mu Jin couldn’t help but cover his face.
He quietly reminded himself that the most important thing was to help his lover increase his soul power to ensure his safety, not to be distracted by his charm.
But then again, if his lover was so attractive and he didn’t do something, would he feel disrespected?
With this thought, Mu Jin peeked through his fingers at Yan Yang, who was still looking at him with a gentle expression. He swallowed, not realizing that his restless tail had already betrayed his thoughts.
Yan Yang found Mu Jin’s reaction amusing; he liked seeing his little cat being playful. However, just as he was about to speak, Mu Jin suddenly pounced on him, looking conflicted, and grumbled through gritted teeth, “You’re seducing me again! If we don’t get anything done, it’s all your fault!”
After that, he was silenced by a kiss, and Yan Yang’s eyes held a hint of amusement as he responded to his beloved’s sweet kiss. He couldn’t help but think he had been too stupid in the past. How could he have held back from this wonderful little cat? This little guy should’ve been his all along.
As their embrace grew tighter, their kiss deepened. Fortunately, Mu Jin managed to hold back, or else they might have spent the whole evening lost in each other’s company, neglecting all other matters.
After calming down a bit, Mu Jin began to seriously teach Yan Yang some soul power training methods, and Yan Yang started to study earnestly.
Yan Yang always felt that although Mu Jin was from a different species, that didn’t stop him from being the person he cherished most. So he was determined to improve his strength to ensure he could protect his beloved.
Once he reached a certain level of strength, he planned to go with his little cat back to his family and formally propose, making Mu Jin his life partner!
Due to Yan Yang’s diligent practice, his soul power improved rapidly. But the faster his soul power grew, the more astonished he became. The more he trained, the clearer it became just how powerful Mu Jin was. What level was his little cat at?
In a short time, Yan Yang had multiplied his original strength several times over. However, without formal testing, he couldn’t be sure of his current level.
Even with all this progress, when he sparred with Mu Jin, he still couldn’t sense his soul power. This could only mean that his little cat’s strength was far above his own soul power level. It made him wonder whether cats cultivated soul power like humans or if they had a different method for hiding their level.
