Chapter 63 – Awoo
The fur on the ears swayed slightly with the breeze.
The headband was hidden in Bai Jinyan’s hair, leaving only the plush ears visible.
Qiao Huaiyao touched them with his palm. The black ears didn’t have a cute style; instead, paired with Bai Jinyan’s expressionless face and meaningful gaze, they added a touch of intensity.
Qiao Huaiyao blinked lightly, noticing the change in Bai Jinyan’s expression. He coughed softly, unable to suppress his smile.
He quietly took a small step back, “Brother, don’t you think these ears look very lively… ah!”
Before Qiao Huaiyao could run, Bai Jinyan raised his hand and swiftly pulled him to his side by the waist.
Then he picked up a similar headband from the stand, only in a different color, brushed Qiao Huaiyao’s hair aside, and placed the headband on him.
Bai Jinyan pinched his cheek, “Yes, they are indeed lively.”
“Mm—” Qiao Huaiyao squinted his eyes and whispered, “Brother…”
Bai Jinyan let go and rubbed the spot he had pinched, “See if there’s anything else you like?”
The stand had many items, with headbands being just a part of it.
They came in various colors and shapes.
However, buying too many headbands would be impractical as you can only wear one at a time.
Other entertainment areas should have more related merchandise, so it might be better to explore further.
Qiao Huaiyao decided not to choose anything else, “Just these two.”
“Alright.” Bai Jinyan lowered his hand, scanning his wristband over the stand’s sensor.
The VIP channel was quiet, and the stand was unmanned, operating through intelligent vending.
The stand would only open after scanning the wristband, and any weight change would record the purchase on the wristband.
After a moment, the stand announced: “The stand is closing. Please do not touch to avoid accidents.”
Then a transparent shield slowly rose around the stand, forming an arch-like protective cover, sealing the items inside.
The VIP channel led to a small path hidden in the woods, which looped back to the regular ticket entrance for the roller coaster.
Qiao Huaiyao looked at his phone, planning their next destination.
Bai Jinyan kept an eye on Qiao Huaiyao and their surroundings, walking slowly while holding his hand.
They had already identified the attractions they wanted to try but hadn’t mapped out a route.
Now they were in the center of the amusement park, trying to find the best path to avoid unnecessary detours.
Bai Jinyan watched Qiao Huaiyao’s profile tenderly, carefully keeping him away from the crowds.
Suddenly, Bai Jinyan seemed to notice something. He abruptly looked up, his expression turning cold as he stared to the left.
Not far away, a tourist was holding up a phone, pointing the camera in their direction.
Seeing the clear view of Bai Jinyan’s intimidating gaze in the lens, the tourist quickly lowered the phone and froze.
Public appearances by celebrities are usually fine under media scrutiny, but taking photos in private during non-working hours is considered invasive. No matter who it is, taking photos secretly should be done with consent.
The tourist hesitated, sensing Bai Jinyan’s apparent dislike…
Debating whether to delete the photo or wait for an assistant to approach and delete everything in their presence.
“Brother, let’s go to the pirate ship,” Qiao Huaiyao said, putting away his phone after mapping out their route. “It’s right next to the roller coaster.”
Bai Jinyan withdrew his gaze and replied, “Alright.”
The tourist blinked, watching the two of them walk away, puzzled that no assistant came over.
Does this mean they won’t pursue it?
…
Following the planned route on the map, they tried several nearby attractions. By the time they finished, it was starting to get dark.
Since they were close to where the float parade would be held, they found a nearby theme restaurant to eat while waiting.
They decided not to go further into the park.
After ordering, the waiter came over with another menu, smiling. “Hello, we’re offering a promotion. All guests dining here will receive a complimentary dessert. Please take a look at our dessert menu.”
Without looking, Bai Jinyan handed the menu to Qiao Huaiyao.
The desserts matched the theme of the park, featuring plush animal designs.
Qiao Huaiyao picked an ice cream and a cake from the menu.
The remaining desserts looked overly sweet.
The waiter took the marked menu and said, “Alright, your food will be out shortly.”
Bai Jinyan placed a drink by Qiao Huaiyao’s hand and said, “There are a few nighttime attractions. Should we check them out after the parade?”
They had already booked a hotel in the park.
Lu Lu had sent the room number.
Staying inside the park meant they didn’t need to rush back.
They could enjoy more attractions.
They had arrived late, missing some daytime attractions, but they could catch up the next day before leaving.
Staying at the park hotel meant their tickets were automatically renewed.
No extra VIP ticket charges.
Qiao Huaiyao nodded, “Sure.”
He had read many guides and, although he hadn’t added the map, he had a good idea of the available nighttime attractions.
After 5 PM, the sky darkened quickly.
Desserts came out quickly, but their main dishes were still being prepared.
Qiao Huaiyao took small bites of his ice cream, a chocolate and strawberry mix, enjoying its rich, creamy flavor with no ice crystals.
He scooped some ice cream and offered it to Bai Jinyan, “Brother, try this. It’s quite good.”
“Alright.” Bai Jinyan wasn’t particularly interested in ice cream, but if Qiao Huaiyao liked it, he thought it was worth a try.
The restaurant had the air conditioning on, and it was quite warm, causing the ice cream to melt quickly.
Qiao Huaiyao ate about half and then put down the spoon, picking up his phone to browse Weibo.
Earlier, his Weibo feed was filled with posts about the sports meet.
Now, it was all about people spotting Bai Jinyan.
Bai Jinyan’s personal and CP super topics were filled with his images.
Qiao Huaiyao noticed the photos were taken at the amusement park, showing him looking down at his phone, unaware of his surroundings.
There were so many photos that someone commented in the super topic: [Why does it feel like the whole world is running into Bai Jinyan?!]
[Everyone else can meet him, but not me!]
[Wait, are these from sasaeng fans? Does Brother Bai have sasaeng fans now? Incredible.]
[What’s on Bai Jinyan’s head? Is that the headband with ears? Bai Jinyan is actually wearing that out? Didn’t he always dislike cute stuff? Must be Photoshopped!]
[Calm down, Qiao Qiao is wearing the white one next to him. It’s clearly a sweet moment.]
[In the third picture, is Bai Jinyan looking directly at the camera? Wow, you managed to keep the photo without being asked to delete it.]
The original poster replied to this comment, addressing the other queries: [Not a sasaeng fan. I booked tickets days in advance and came here with my friend. We happened to see Bai Jinyan after getting off a ride. Just a coincidence.]
[I thought I was seeing things, but my friend reminded me to take a photo. No assistant approached me to delete it. If needed, they can contact me anytime.]
[Speaking of that picture, I was really scared by his gaze, but Brother Bai didn’t ask me to delete it. It seemed like Qiao Qiao said something at the time. I didn’t record a video, but it was clear on camera—Brother Bai’s expression softened quite a bit.]
Comment section: [???]
[That last sentence makes me ship them even more.]
[Learn from this, ladies! Next time, take pictures when Qiao Qiao is around. Maybe you can even get an autograph.]
pWhen Qiao Qiao isn’t around: Bai Jinyan, the roaring dragon! When Qiao Qiao is around: Bai Jinyan, ‘aww~’]
[Hahaha, even Bai Jinyan would curse if he saw this.]
…
Qiao Huaiyao couldn’t help but smile at the comment.
Sitting next to him, Bai Jinyan noticed Qiao Huaiyao laughing and reached over to adjust his headband. “What’s making you so happy?”
As he spoke, he glanced at the comment about the [‘aww’] sound.
Qiao Huaiyao tried to block the screen, but it was too late. His smile froze, and he leaned against Bai Jinyan, looking at him innocently.
Bai Jinyan: “Aww?”
While speaking, Bai Jinyan pressed a button under the table, locking the private room door automatically.
Qiao Huaiyao: “?!”
He straightened up immediately, “It was them who said… mmph!”
Qiao Huaiyao’s words were cut off by a kiss, and thinking about the comment, he couldn’t help but smile, his eyes curving.
Their gazes met, and Bai Jinyan bit lightly on his lip.
Qiao Huaiyao’s eyes widened. Bai Jinyan wrapped an arm around his waist, pulling him onto his lap, supporting him with a hand on his back, deepening the kiss.
The park had private dining rooms for guests’ convenience, but they were very small, only fitting a table and two sofa chairs.
With such limited space, Qiao Huaiyao couldn’t move much. His breathing became uneven, and his face reddened. His hands hung weakly around Bai Jinyan’s shoulders, fingers curling slightly, wrinkling the fabric.
After what felt like an eternity, Bai Jinyan pulled him closer, kissing him lightly with a smile.
Bai Jinyan whispered in Qiao Huaiyao’s ear, “Aww.”
Qiao Huaiyao: “!!!”
His breath hitched, and his already flushed face grew even hotter.
Bai Jinyan kissed his earlobe, watching it turn red. He chuckled softly, about to tease him more, but Qiao Huaiyao buried his head in Bai Jinyan’s chest.
As if hiding from him, Qiao Huaiyao covered his exposed ears with his hand.
Seeing this, Bai Jinyan decided to stop teasing him and kissed his hand. “If you don’t eat your ice cream, it will melt.”
Qiao Huaiyao, still not looking up, mumbled, “Mm.”
It was so soft that if they weren’t close, Bai Jinyan might have missed it.
The more Qiao Huaiyao acted this way, the more Bai Jinyan wanted to kiss him.
Before he could coax him out of his embrace, the waiter knocked on the door—
After dinner, the float parade outside had just started.
Many people were already lined up along the road.
