Shang Xuci carried the cat back home.
Seeing the cat staring blankly, Shang Xuci gave a cold snort.
“So, you like staring at other people’s abs that much?”
The little white cat turned its head with an innocent, bewildered look. “Meow?”
Pretending not to understand, Jian Xun headed straight for the automatic feeder as soon as they got home. Tonight’s meal hadn’t been eaten yet—he was starving.
Chomp chomp chomp.
After polishing off the cat food, the little white cat’s belly was round and full. He sprawled on the floor belly-up, round eyes rolling upward toward the kitchen. The dried fish… he really wanted some. But there were cameras, and the big boss was strict about controlling his own figure. No way he could sneak any now.
The kitty sighed.
He’d have to come up with a plan.
Flop flop—rolling over, Jian Xun tumbled into his cardboard box, as usual counting his “fortune.” Every bill was still there. Feeling reassured, he climbed out and went to the bedroom to keep Shang Xuci company in sleep.
Two days later, early in the morning, Jian Xun woke up unusually early. On the bed, he was kneading with his paws, staring unblinkingly at Shang Xuci.
Today was the academic exchange at the university. He was going too.
Jian Xun noticed the man’s suit hanging up and climbed onto the dresser, trying to burrow into the pocket.
Unfortunately, he was no longer the tiny kitten he used to be—he couldn’t fit at all.
His gaze shifted to the bag on the desk.
He sneaked a glance at the man still in the bathroom, then used his paw to nudge the bag open. One foot cautiously tested the inside.
!!
It seemed like it might work!
Jian Xun’s heart lit up with joy. He lifted his other paw, just about to climb in—when a low, magnetic voice sounded behind him.
“Sui Sui.”
The naughty kitten was so startled he dove straight into the bag headfirst, leaving more than half his backside sticking out.
Shang Xuci: “…”
This was a document bag, not a cat carrier.
“Come out.” Shang Xuci patted the cat’s rump.
That soft, plump feel under his hand startled him for a moment. Without thinking, he gave it another squeeze.
Smack.
Unable to resist, he gave a light swat.
The little cat inside the bag froze for a second, then started whimpering pitifully.
But he still refused to come out.
The tip of the cat’s tail stubbornly tucked further inside.
You hit me, so now you can’t make me come out!
Seeing that Sui Sui was absolutely refusing to leave, Shang Xuci could only give up on that bag and fetch another one.
When he came out of the study, the cat on the desk had already changed positions—curled up inside the bag, head poking out with a pair of pitiful, teary eyes.
When Jian Xun saw the big boss switch bags, he let out a surprised “meow.” While the other man was changing his shoes, he darted to the entryway, stood on his hind legs, rose onto tiptoe, and reached out his little short paws toward the bag.
Shang Xuci, just as he turned to grab the bag after putting on his shoes, caught the scene. His brows lifted slightly. With his long arm, he snatched the bag away right before the kitten could touch it.
Jian Xun turned his head.
“Meow.”
A soft, aggrieved cry.
You’re going to leave me home alone again?
The little kitten wore a quivering, about-to-cry expression. Just as the man’s hand touched the doorknob, he clung to Shang Xuci’s leg like a koala.
“Meeooow~”
I want to go too!
Shang Xuci took a step forward, and Suìsuì clung even tighter. He could even feel the cat’s claws pricking through the thin fabric and pressing into his skin—not painful, but definitely there.
Truly, this little one had no intention of letting go.
“Do you want to be an accessory?” Shang Xuci crouched down, looking at the “leg ornament.” “Want to come with me?”
“Meow meow meow!!”
Yes, yes, yes!
The little ornament nodded furiously.
Shang Xuci stood, but the kitten still had no urge to release him. Without a word, Shang Xuci took out his phone, snapped a few photos of the cat clinging to his leg, quietly put the phone away, and went to get the cat carrier.
The moment Jian Xun saw the carrier, he finally released his grip and excitedly jumped inside.
True to his word, the big boss didn’t deceive the little cat—he brought the carrier along to the university.
Hehe, the big boss is so nice.
The morning sunlight streamed over the ancient plane trees, their shadows dancing across the winding campus paths.
This was the university life Jian Xun had never experienced in his past life, youth frozen in its most beautiful moment.
The little cat sat in the carrier, eyes fixed intently on every corner of the campus—the ivy-covered lecture halls, the sound of a passionate professor’s voice drifting from an open classroom, the sparkling lake surface where a few white swans glided leisurely, the willows swaying gently in the breeze along the shore…
Every corner of the campus seemed to brim with an air of scholarship and the vitality of youth.
University… it’s wonderful.
In his past life, he had died right after getting accepted—never even had the chance to experience it…
Jian Xun lay in the cat carrier, his two front paws with their soft pink pads pressed against the transparent bubble window, eyes full of longing.
He continued gazing at the campus scenery.
Wait!
What was that?
Jian Xun spotted a sudden, violent rustling in the grass. His eyes locked onto the spot, and just as Shang Xuci was about to pass by, two cats rolled out of the bushes mid-fight!
A closer look—wasn’t that his brother Tu Tu?!
“Meow meow meow!”
The quiet cat carrier suddenly shook violently. Perhaps sensing something, Shang Xuci also caught sight of the two fighting cats from the corner of his eye.
“We’re almost there. Stay still,” Shang Xuci said, patting the carrier in reassurance.
Jian Xun could only watch helplessly as he was carried farther and farther away from his big brother…
When they reached the destination, Jian Xun was let out. He brushed against Shang Xuci’s leg, then obediently curled up nearby to listen as the big boss spoke with someone.
Spotting a familiar figure, Shang Xuci said to the bespectacled classmate beside him, “I’m going to say hello to a friend. Can you keep an eye on my cat for a moment? I’ll be right back.”
“Go ahead, don’t worry. I’ll look after Suìsuì.”
As soon as Shang Xuci left, Jian Xun and the man in glasses exchanged a glance. Curling up, the cat pretended to be asleep while the man absentmindedly stroked him with one hand and read with the other.
Somehow, Jian Xun managed to sneak a plush toy into the man’s lap as a stand-in for himself, then seized the chance to slip away unnoticed.
He had to confirm whether that cat was really his brother Tu Tu.
Worried the big boss might get anxious, Jian Xun planned to make it quick—find Xu Tutu, bring him back under the big boss’s nose for a friendly chat, and avoid being caught running off. That way, he wouldn’t be banned from coming along next time.
Relying on his excellent memory and sharp sense of smell, Jian Xun quickly tracked down Xu Tutu.
The tabby was grooming himself, but when he heard that familiar meow, he turned his head.
Cat meeting cat—two cats meowed softly at each other.
Just as planned, Jian Xun led Xu Tutu toward the auditorium, chatting along the way.
“Brother Tutu, didn’t you turn into a human? Why are you a cat again?” Jian Xun had so many questions—like why he was here, and what had made him fight with another cat earlier…
Xu Tutu, walking with elegant feline grace, replied, “Being human is exhausting. After trying it for a while, I decided it’s better to be a cat.”
At least for now.
It was the first time Xu Tutu realized that the human world was not easy to navigate.
Although he had obtained an ID card from the Bureau of Supernatural Affairs, he had no educational background. And unfortunately, he had arrived at the most competitive time in the human job market— even waiters were college graduates. All he could do was look for jobs that didn’t require any qualifications.
He swept the streets for half a month. The pay wasn’t bad, and he even bought a second-hand phone. But later, because his human form was rather good-looking, he attracted the attention of a pervert and ended up losing that job.
His second job was in telemarketing. Xu Tutu worked there for a month without receiving a single paycheck—until one day, his hands were suddenly cuffed.
It all happened so fast. Imitating the humans, he walked with his head down and shoulders hunched, enduring the stares and whispers along the way. In the end, he spent more than half a month in detention before being released.
Not a single cent to show for it.
QAQ
His third job was finally “in his field”—he found work at a cat café. He thought this was the peak of his career, but it turned out to be a cruel, black-hearted shop that treated the cats terribly. Some were sick, others were beaten or scolded.
Xu Tutu couldn’t understand why such people even opened a cat café. In the end, he used his phone to record evidence and posted it online. The shop was eventually shut down, but of course, he also lost his job.
With no money for food and even the space under the bridge taken by homeless people, a starving Xu Tutu, dizzy from hunger, turned back into a cat and began wandering the area.
When it came down to it, it was all because he lacked knowledge and experience—too easy to be deceived by humans. Xu Tutu made up his mind to change. He still wanted to accomplish great things!
From now on, he would spend more time learning from the seniors on the demon forums!
“So that’s how you ended up at this university?”
“Yeah! Here I can get free cat food, and I can attend classes for free—no tuition at all. It’s basically a kitty’s paradise for studying!!!”
Unfortunately, he had run into an insolent cat who provoked him. Xu Tutu had immediately flattened the other with a single feline punch.
Hmph. A mere weakling dared to challenge him?
“What about you? Why are you here?” Xu Tutu raised his voice. “Don’t tell me your human abandoned you too?”
“No, not at all. The big boss treats me really well. He’s a student here, and he came today for an academic exchange. I asked him to bring me along.”
“Wow, your human is amazing.” Xu Tutu almost completely overturned all his previous impressions of Shang Xuci—now he could only think of two words: academic genius.
School knowledge was really hard to grasp. Xu Tutu considered himself clever, yet when it came to the professors’ lectures, he could only listen in a haze—half-understood at best.
“Mm, let’s talk about the rest when we get there.”
…
Shang Xuci was walking toward a young man dressed in white casual wear. As he got closer, he confirmed it was indeed him.
Xu Huai.
If he remembered correctly, at this point in time Xu Huai had not yet reunited with the Xu family. As an illegitimate child, Xu Huai despised his own identity and wanted nothing to do with them.
Xu Huai was extremely gifted with computers, and Shang Xuci had always admired him.
The young man, standing at 1.88 meters, had just graduated from university. He was now starting a business with friends, everything progressing smoothly—except they were still short on investors.
Today, Xu Huai had returned to campus to attend this academic exchange for one reason: to network and seek resources. Taking the initiative, he had approached people repeatedly, only to be rejected time after time. Eventually, he couldn’t be bothered to keep making small talk and sat in his seat, lost in thought.
Looking closer, there were dark circles under his eyes. Even so, they couldn’t hide his handsome features—tightly pressed thin lips, dark and brooding eyes—clearly in a bad mood.
Was it because of the investment troubles?
Shang Xuci sat down beside him.
Xu Huai frowned and turned to look at the man next to him, his gaze falling on the nameplate on the desk.
“You’re Shang Xuci?” he asked.
Shang Xuci crossed his legs and lifted his eyes slightly. His long, narrow phoenix eyes, calm as a still deep pool, were at odds with his youthful appearance.
Realizing his tone had been a bit rude, Xu Huai’s throat moved slightly before he introduced himself.
Shang Xuci’s gaze shifted to the proposal on Xu Huai’s desk, and he asked evenly, “You’re developing intelligent software?”
Xu Huai was startled. He hadn’t expected the other man to show interest in his product. In fact, one of the potential investors he had been aiming for was from the Shang family—he just hadn’t expected to run into this Shang.
Seeing that Shang Xuci seemed interested, Xu Huai handed him the proposal.
But the man only flipped through two pages before saying, “I’ll invest in this project.”
Xu Huai opened his mouth, about to respond, when a man hurried over to Shang Xuci’s side and said, “Something’s wrong—Sui Sui is missing.”
The words had barely fallen when the host walked onstage to speak. Shang Xuci rose immediately and followed the bespectacled man out.
Xu Huai followed as well.
They had just reached the doorway when a little white cat ran right into them.
Two voices rang out at the same time:
“Sui Sui.”
“Tu Tu!!”
The second voice belonged to Xu Huai, carrying a tremor of excitement.
Seeing that the little white cat hadn’t been wandering far, Shang Xuci let out a breath of relief. The young man beside him, however, who had tried to grab the tabby cat, was met with a scratch for his trouble.
The two of them brought the cats to a café.
Suìsuì chatted with the tabby: “This is your owner?”
“Hmph. Former owner.”
What terrible luck—after avoiding him for so long, they had ended up meeting here.
Out of the corner of his eye, Tu Tu glanced at Xu Huai, who was staring fixedly at him like some kind of pervert.
“Tu Tu.” Xu Huai’s gaze softened noticeably. He even hurriedly ordered a cat carrier through Meituan Flash Delivery, planning to take the cat away as soon as he got the chance.
But now, looking at the cat’s backside turned toward him in refusal, Xu Huai felt a knot in his chest.
He wanted to hold his cat.
He hadn’t held his cat in such a long time.
Xu Huai’s nose stung, and his eyes grew red. His cat seemed thinner—life out there must have been so hard.
When Jian Xun realized that his big brother’s owner was actually Xu Huai, the computer genius from the novel, his mind started racing. This… this had to be fate!
If Xu Huai didn’t work with Shang Ye but instead got the big boss to invest in him, then Shang Xuci’s career would definitely skyrocket!
Instinctively, Jian Xun glanced at the big boss first. Determination flashed in his round cat eyes, and he curled his paws tightly. With his relationship with his big brother, he was sure he could help!
Turning back to Xu Huai, he noticed that the man still hadn’t said a single word—his gaze was glued to the tabby cat.
“He’s been staring at you the whole time,” Jian Xun whispered to Xu Tutu, pressing his head against his in secret.
Xu Tutu wiped his face with a paw and replied coolly, “Don’t be fooled.”
The two cats kept meowing at each other, as if having a conversation.
Shang Xuci was the first to speak. “This tabby cat is yours?”
Xu Huai nodded. “Mm. Tu Tu ran away from home. I’ve been looking for him.”
“It seems he and Sui Sui are friends.” Shang Xuci had seen this tabby before. At first, he thought it was just a similar coat pattern, but later he became certain it was the same cat he’d encountered by the huapai tree.
“Meow.” Jian Xun called out toward the two men, then went to rub himself against Shang Xuci’s leg.
He was the one who had brought his big brother here—this was all fate.
Seeing his little brother acting so eager to cozy up to a human, Xu Tutu muttered, “Shameless.”
Jian Xun shot back, “Didn’t you ever snuggle up to your owner before?”
Xu Tutu cast him a sidelong glance and replied haughtily, “Depends on my mood.”
“Have you ever jumped onto your human’s lap?” Jian Xun asked again. He had never had other pet cat friends and wasn’t sure how other cats usually interacted with their owners—he just knew that his own big boss wasn’t very fond of close cuddles.
“Lap?” Xu Tutu immediately turned and, with a graceful leap, landed on Xu Huai’s lap. The man froze, startled by the sudden affection.
Then the cat promptly smacked him across the face with a big paw.
This is so funny , I love the tabby big brother haha
