Ghost Tamer 14
By the time they arrived at the abandoned school building, the sun had already begun to set.
The building remained eerie and ominous. Ever since Tian Rourou had been trapped in a confined space by Ji Fuqing, she had never managed to break free.
Now, she stood in front of Class 6 Grade 12, glaring at them with a twisted expression.
She didn’t dare to look directly at Ji Fuqing, so she could only focus her hostility on Ji Ziang and Bai Qiaosheng.
Normally, people couldn’t see ghosts, but when their lives were in danger, their yin-yang eyes would be forced open.
Bai Qiaosheng witnessed a ghost with his own eyes for the first time. Not only was he unafraid, but he also seemed quite excited.
Ji Ziang, on the other hand, had a complicated expression. After spending so much time around Tang Xi—a ghost with delicate features who always appeared fair and clean—he had almost forgotten what a normal ghost looked like.
So, when he suddenly saw the terrifying face of a female ghost, he felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity.
Meanwhile, Tian Rourou was shrieking, blood dripping from her mouth and nose as she put on a horrifying display. But after all that effort, the people in front of her didn’t react at all.
The only one who responded was a tiny kitten, who, being her fellow ghost, was so frightened that its fur stood on end.
Now fluffed up, the kitten looked even rounder—like a big, golden dandelion.
Ji Fuqing reached out and gently smoothed the kitten’s fur while giving Tian Rourou a casual glance.
In an instant, Tian Rourou quieted down. The terrifying expression and the blood on her face vanished, revealing her true appearance—though her limbs still remained twisted.
With his fur smoothed, Tang Xi finally mustered the courage to look up. He didn’t ask Tian Rourou about the cause of her death. Instead, he told her about her family’s current situation.
Before coming here, they had visited Tian Rourou’s home.
Her parents, once supermarket owners, had shut down their store after their daughter “went missing.” They took on more flexible jobs and never stopped searching for her.
Bai Qiaosheng had kept his livestream running until Wang Xueping fully confessed. Only then did he end it. He then played the recorded footage for the couple.
When it came to the truth, no one had more right to know than they did.
Meanwhile, a screenshot of Ji Fuqing holding the kitten went viral. The entertainment industry had no shortage of handsome men, but someone this stunning was rare. Moreover, the aura around him created an unapproachable, otherworldly feeling. With the backdrop of Lexian Mountain, the leaked screenshots looked like scenes straight out of an immortal realm.
As the post gained traction, Wang Xueping’s words spread across the internet. Sharp-eyed netizens quickly identified the people and events involved in the case.
Soon, forums were flooded with posts digging up details.
Ji Ziang glanced at the growing online discussions and said, “At this rate, the police might show up soon. We need to perform the ritual quickly.”
Everyone turned their gaze toward the little meowing kitten.
But Tang Xi wasn’t in a rush. He continued telling Tian Rourou about her parents.
Her expression grew dazed. She had very few memories of her past life.
Even when hearing about the parents who had raised her, her recollections remained fragmented—mere flashes of images that couldn’t form a complete story.
Yet, as she listened to Tang Xi’s words, blood-red tears began to fall.
The more she cried, the more lost she seemed.
“Meow.” Let’s make a deal.
Tian Rourou met his gaze.
“Meow meow meow.” I know who your killer is. I will avenge you, and I will make sure the truth is revealed to everyone. But in exchange, you must move on.
In other words, she had to be exorcised.
For a vengeful ghost to enter the cycle of reincarnation, there was only one way—to be exorcised.
This time, Tian Rourou snapped out of her confusion much faster. She wiped away the blood on her face and asked, “Alright. But… do you know where my remains are?”
Tang Xi’s eyes curved in a smile. His little tail swayed playfully.
“Meow!” I do!
A vengeful ghost who died by suicide would instinctively fear their own remains, unwilling to touch them again.
Back then, in order to cover up his crime, Wang Xueping chose the easiest method—hiding Tian Rourou’s body in the abandoned school building, a place no one ever visited.
In his panic, he hastily concealed the body without much thought.
He never expected that, six years later, students would enter that building.
If you have a clear conscience, you won’t fear ghosts knocking at your door—but Wang Xueping had every reason to be afraid. Terrified that his crime would be exposed, he sneaked into the building one night to check if the body had been disturbed.
That was why, when the students had their accident, he ended up in trouble as well. He had thought that carrying an evil jade charm from Lexian Temple would protect him. But he underestimated Tian Rourou’s deep hatred for the man who had killed her—it nearly cost him his life.
And as for the place where he hid her body, it was none other than that men’s restroom—the very one that had shielded two students but that Tian Rourou had refused to enter.
When they led Tian Rourou there, she showed intense resistance.
A chilling wind swept through the restroom.
Tang Xi searched the area but couldn’t find where the body was hidden.
Ji Fuqing made a subtle gesture with his fingers, and the small paper figurine—wrapped in Tang Xi’s tiny tail—came to life.
It floated around before quickly locking onto a specific location. Then, it drifted up to the ceiling and began tapping against it.
Ji Ziang frowned. “He actually hid it there? How cunning.”
They removed the ceiling tiles—and sure enough, beneath them lay a pile of white bones.
If not for Ji Fuqing’s spiritual presence suppressing her instincts, Tian Rourou would have fled the moment those bones were revealed.
Ji Ziang took charge of the exorcism ritual. He used a special powder to encircle the bones while Tian Rourou floated just above her own remains.
Then, he wrote the entire sequence of events on a special talisman, carefully detailing the true cause of her death.
As he completed the final stroke, the talisman ignited on its own.
Tang Xi and Bai Qiaosheng, unfamiliar with such rituals, watched in silent fascination.
Ji Ziang then began chanting the incantation. Since this was his first time performing an exorcism rather than a banishment, he stumbled a little at first.
Tian Rourou’s face twisted in pain. Instinctively, she clung to the world of the living, unwilling to leave.
Just as Tang Xi was watching with a heavy heart, a mechanical voice—1551—suddenly spoke: “The police have taken Wang Xueping into custody.”
Tian Rourou seemed to sense something. She lifted her head and gazed into the distance.
It was as if she could see, beyond the thick walls, the miserable fate that awaited Wang Xueping.
A slow smile spread across her face. Her expression softened with relief.
Ji Ziang’s chanting, no longer faltering, flowed smoothly.
And just before her figure completely faded away, Tang Xi heard a whisper right beside his ear—so soft it was almost carried away by the wind:
“Thank you.”
. . . . .
Tang Xi had no idea how he ended up being brought back.
All he knew was that after Tian Rourou was exorcised, he blacked out.
His mind was suddenly flooded with memories that didn’t belong to him.
A young boy living alone in a large house. A boy who had only himself for company, playing games all by himself.
Tang Xi quickly realized—these were the original host’s memories.
Tian Rourou’s successful exorcism had triggered something in him, allowing him to recall his own past.
Tian Rourou had died a tragic death. And the original host… had he also suffered injustice?
Before Tang Xi could delve deeper into the memories, he was abruptly pulled out.
The moment he opened his eyes, he was met with Ji Fuqing’s cold, expressionless face.
But as soon as Ji Fuqing saw him wake up, his expression noticeably softened.
“I’m fine,” Tang Xi said instinctively, reaching out to pat his poop scooper.
That was when he finally realized—he had transformed back into his ghostly form.
And, to make matters worse, he was being cradled in Ji Fuqing’s arms, held with utmost care.
Ji Fuqing’s expression was serious—too serious, like he was conducting some kind of rigorous academic study.
His sharp gaze scanned every inch of Tang Xi, meticulously checking for any injuries or abnormalities.
As if afraid something might be wrong.
Tang Xi’s face instantly turned red, so much so that even his ghostly body took on a faint pink hue.
Flustered, he quickly reached out and covered Ji Fuqing’s eyes. “You’re not allowed to look!”
Ji Fuqing’s gaze turned a little colder. “I’m not allowed to look? Then who is? That guy Nie Rong?”
Tang Xi nearly screamed for help in his mind. He never expected his one little slip of the tongue to be remembered by Ji Fuqing for so long!
Ji Fuqing’s tone remained calm but domineering. “You are my shiki. From the inside out, you belong to me. There’s no such thing as ‘not allowed to look.’”
Even though his words sounded borderline shameless, his expression remained serious, his aura still as ethereal as ever.
Tang Xi pouted. “What do you mean, ‘from the inside out’—”
Before he could finish, he suddenly felt something warm and wet glide across his palm.
A shiver ran up his spine, straight to his brain.
Startled, he yanked his hand away—only to have his wrist caught and guided right back to Ji Fuqing’s lips.
Then, his hand was kissed, inch by inch, carefully and reverently.
It was just a hand.
But when Ji Fuqing did it, there was something inexplicably sensual about it, a stark contrast to his usual restraint.
It felt like he wasn’t just kissing his hand—but somewhere else.
Tang Xi curled up, his face burning, whimpering softly as he begged for mercy.
Ji Fuqing, however, had no intention of letting his little shiki go.
Instead, he pulled him even closer, pressing him into his embrace, and kissed him until he was breathless and teary-eyed.
Afterward, Tang Xi was so angry that he refused to speak to Ji Fuqing.
That was until Ji Fuqing took out over a dozen top-quality incense sticks to appease his little shiki.
Tang Xi: It’s not that I have no backbone… It’s just that these smell way too good.
And so, the little shiki found himself nestled in Ji Fuqing’s arms, happily nibbling on incense.
A few tiny paper figurines fluttered beside him, ready to serve at his command.
All he had to do was point at the incense he wanted, and the little paper servants would immediately scurry off to fetch it for him.
Ji Fuqing indulged him completely, watching with eyes full of fondness as Tang Xi absorbed the incense.
If an outsider were to witness this scene, they would surely be shocked.
This didn’t look like someone taming a ghost.
It looked more like someone pampering a little ancestor.
Just then, figures appeared outside the barrier.
It was the Ji family patriarch, accompanied by a group of high-ranking exorcists.
None of them dared to breathe too loudly as they stood outside the door.
Especially the ones who had tried to push Chen Sheng into Ji Fuqing’s favor—those people were so terrified they nearly fainted on the spot.
The fact that Chen Sheng hadn’t been chosen by Ji Fuqing wasn’t the real problem.
The real issue was that, in doing so, they had essentially slapped the face of the shiki who already stood by Ji Fuqing’s side.
Originally, they had assumed that the little ghost was nothing more than a fleeting amusement for Ji Fuqing.
But then last night, Ji Fuqing had personally carried him back in his arms.
Who treats a mere shiki like that?
It was obvious that the ghost’s position in Ji Fuqing’s heart was far more important than they had imagined.
What was even more terrifying was that Ji Fuqing had been visibly furious last night.
For the first time, he had truly lost his temper.
Even though the anger wasn’t directed at them, the sheer weight of his spiritual pressure had left every single exorcist trembling.
It wasn’t until just now that the pressure finally lifted, signaling that Ji Fuqing’s mood had improved.
They could only assume that the shiki had woken up.
After some quick deliberation, they immediately rushed over to check on the situation.
As expected, the Ji family patriarch was pushed forward, nervously stepping up to the barrier.
With great caution, he reached out to make contact.
The barrier slowly began to dissolve.
But before any of them could step inside, a sharp, clear voice suddenly rang out—
“Ji Fuqing, get the hell off of me!”
