President 14
As the man stepped out of the car, his long legs moving gracefully, his sharp eyes locked onto Tang Xi like a predator eyeing its prey.
Tang Xi was on the verge of tears: [1551, why is the villain here???]
A hundred horrifying scenarios of being sent to a research lab and dissected flashed through his mind.
Knowing that He Wang had arrived, 1551 immediately decided to play dead—because with He Wang around, the host was undoubtedly safe.
The moment He Wang joined in, the situation flipped entirely. With just his bare hands, he effortlessly took down several thugs.
These gangsters had spent years roaming the streets, they knew exactly who they could mess with and who they absolutely shouldn’t provoke. Fighting was second nature to them, but risking their lives over mere pride? Not a chance.
The moment they saw He Wang stepping out of that luxury car, they knew he wasn’t someone to cross—let alone with his ruthless, no-holds-barred fighting style.
The thugs quickly exchanged glances, grabbed their leader from Shen Chensi’s grip, and ran off without even daring to spit out the usual tough-guy threats, afraid they’d be marked for revenge.
He Wang didn’t bother chasing them. Instead, he casually rolled his right wrist, his expression carrying a hint of regret.
“Scared stiff, little one?”
When He Wang’s gaze fell on Tang Xi again, Tang Xi didn’t even process what he had said—he instinctively took a step back in fear.
His eyes glistened with unshed tears, his long lashes trembled slightly, and the sweet scent of desserts still lingered on him from earlier.
His small face was pale, making him look like he had been bullied badly. But in reality, he hadn’t suffered a single scratch—the tears in his eyes were purely from watching He Wang fight.
He Wang paused. “Are you hurt?” His tone held a hint of displeasure, though he wasn’t sure why the boy’s fear of him annoyed him so much.
He didn’t move closer.
“N-no, I’m not.” Tang Xi avoided his gaze, quickly running over to help Shen Chensi up.
Shen Chensi still hadn’t recovered from the shock. He looked at He Wang with a complicated expression—he actually recognized this “President He.” He had seen him from afar once at a banquet his father had taken him to.
The sheer presence He Wang exuded often made people overlook the fact that he was only twenty-eight—a rising giant in the business world.
It was as if he was born for bussiness warfare, never once suffering a setback. His investment acumen was razor-sharp, his instincts frighteningly accurate, and he climbed higher and higher with every move. Even Shen Chensi’s father had to show him some level of deference.
And yet, this very man had just stepped in, fighting barehanded, to save two complete nobodies.
No one would believe it if they heard.
But He Wang paid no attention to Shen Chensi’s scrutinizing gaze. His eyes, cool and indifferent, landed on the hand Tang Xi was using to support someone else. His voice carried a subtle chill.
“Do you need me to call an ambulance?”
“No need, we can call ourselves. Thank you for your help today.” Shen Chensi responded without hesitation.
“I wasn’t talking to you.” He Wang shot him a glance.
It was as if he had only now acknowledged Shen Chensi’s existence, but his eyes remained as cold as ever.
Shen Chensi was momentarily startled by He Wang’s glance. Realizing his reaction, he felt embarrassed and clenched his fists, gritting his teeth.
“Th-thank you, but that won’t be necessary.” Tang Xi responded timidly.
Sensing the unspoken tension between the two men, he attributed it to the natural incompatibility between a villain and the child of fate.
Since Tang Xi had declined, and He Wang wasn’t one to meddle unnecessarily, he simply nodded and turned to leave.
As they watched the Maybach drive away, both Shen Chensi and Tang Xi secretly let out a sigh of relief.
Afterward, Tang Xi requested leave from school and accompanied Shen Chensi to the hospital.
Shen Chensi’s forehead was wrapped in layers of white gauze. He remained completely silent during the treatment, deliberately maintaining a nonchalant demeanor in front of Tang Xi.
However, Tang Xi, still distracted by He Wang’s unexpected appearance, didn’t notice Shen Chensi’s forced composure at all.
Once the nurse left, the hospital room fell into silence.
“Do you… know that man?” Shen Chensi suddenly asked. He didn’t mention a name, but both of them knew exactly who he meant.
“No.” Tang Xi denied it without hesitation.
For some reason, Shen Chensi felt inexplicably pleased by that answer. “Then don’t worry about it. I’ll tell my dad to visit him and personally express our gratitude. He did save us, and we owe him, but… it’s best if you don’t get too close to him.”
Even though he knew Tang Xi and He Wang had no reason to cross paths, Shen Chensi couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling he had.
It was as if that man had treated Tang Xi… unusually well.
Instinctively, he wanted Tang Xi to stay far away from such a dangerous person.
Tang Xi felt a little guilty. “Oh.”
If I had a choice, I wouldn’t want him to see me in my human form either…
Afraid Shen Chensi would notice something was off, Tang Xi quickly changed the subject. And so, the two of them—each harboring their own thoughts—chatted about random things, neither mentioning the incident again.
Several times, Shen Chensi wanted to sincerely apologize and thank Tang Xi, but every time, an odd sense of embarrassment stopped him.
On one hand, he thought Tang Xi had been foolish for not running away earlier. On the other hand, he couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of joy because of it.
Tang Xi, however, was just confused. From his perspective, Shen Chensi’s attitude had suddenly changed—he was being unusually kind, speaking gently, and even insisting on peeling an apple for him.
Thus, an odd scene unfolded: the injured patient peeling an apple for someone else.
Under normal circumstances, the school would have severely punished them for skipping class and getting into a fight. But given that Shen Chensi was the son of the Shen family—the very family that had donated the school’s sports complex—the school decided to turn a blind eye.
Tang Xi stayed in the hospital room until Shen Chensi’s mother arrived, at which point he slipped away.
He figured he’d do Shen Chensi a favor—spare him the embarrassment of having an audience while his mother scolded him and tugged him by the ear.
The moment Shen Chensi saw his mother, his attitude shifted. Just a second ago, he had been trying to keep Tang Xi from leaving. Now, he was practically urging him to go as quickly as possible.
On his way home, Tang Xi sighed to his system: [Ah… the hearts of men.]
1551 responded: [As elusive as a needle at the bottom of the sea.]
It seemed like He Wang hadn’t recognized him at all. Feeling relieved and delighted, Tang Xi decided not to hold a grudge against his system for playing dead earlier.
With that, a cat and a system happily resumed their chatter inside his mind.
Comforted by 1551’s reassurances, Tang Xi completely cast aside any worries about being exposed.
. . . . .
Tang Xi transformed back into a small kitten and snuck into the garden. He originally planned to slip up to the second floor unnoticed, but after only a few steps, he got completely distracted by the butterflies fluttering around.
With his little tail held high, he bounced after an orange-red butterfly, trotting excitedly behind it.
The butterfly seemed to be deliberately teasing him, sometimes flying low, sometimes high, always just out of reach.
Several times, Tang Xi’s tiny paws nearly brushed against its wings, but he still couldn’t catch it. Whenever he got too tired to run, the butterfly would land on a flower and wait, only to take off again the moment he started chasing.
Watching the silly cat being led around in circles, the system was speechless. [He Wang is coming.]
But the warning came too late. He Wang’s car had already stopped at the front gate, and as soon as he stepped inside, he saw the little furball dashing around the garden on his tiny legs.
For some reason, He Wang’s mood lifted. He crouched down slightly and reached out his hand. “Tangkuai, come here.”
“Meow~” Tang Xi, his little face smudged with dirt, happily trotted over and rubbed against the villain’s outstretched hand.
“Meow meow~” Thank you for saving me today.
He Wang, of course, didn’t understand what the kitten was saying—he only felt that it was particularly affectionate today. He ran his hand down Tang Xi’s fur, stroking from his head all the way to his tail.
Tang Xi, meanwhile, rubbed all the dirt onto He Wang’s sleeve, effectively cleaning himself off while making a mess of the villain’s expensive suit.
Yet He Wang didn’t seem to care. He simply shrugged off his now-dirty jacket and handed it to the approaching butler.
The butler, taking the jacket, looked at Tang Xi in surprise. “Huh? How did Tangkuai end up outside playing?”
Holding the kitten in his arms, He Wang glanced down, a faint and unreadable smile forming on his lips. “Cats are playful. It’s normal for them to run around.”
“Meow.” Tang Xi flicked his tail and nodded in agreement.
He Wang’s voice softened slightly. “But Tangkuai is a good boy, and he would never run somewhere I couldn’t find him… right?”
The last sentence was barely audible—so soft that Tang Xi could only catch it thanks to his sharp feline hearing.
“Meow.” Tang Xi nodded again, though his ears twitched slightly in alarm.
He Wang lowered his gaze, watching as the little cat’s ears flattened instinctively. His expression remained unreadable.
