Quick Transmigration: Breaking Up That Official CP – Chapter 99

Chapter 99 – King of Entertainment: Loving You Across the World – You never even confessed. How can you call yourself my boyfriend? (06)

As someone who had “brought his own backing” into the production, Bai Tang received top-tier resources within the crew. He had a private lounge, and even his makeup artist was personally assigned by Min Corporation, serving as his exclusive stylist.

Since this was a modern drama, and Bai Tang had gained some weight under Min Gunian’s care, his once thin face had become slightly fuller. With his naturally good features, just a little touch-up and a change of outfit were enough to perfectly bring out the frail, bookish aura of his character, Du Yushu.

As soon as he stepped out of the lounge and walked toward the set, he stunned everyone who had been rehearsing their lines.

Wei Gudong’s eyes flickered, and she flashed a friendly smile as she walked toward Bai Tang.

“You look way too good! Who’s your makeup artist? They’re amazing—I want them to do my makeup too!”

Her words subtly implied that Bai Tang had powerful backing. Everyone knew that actors who entered a production through connections were usually difficult to deal with.

Bai Tang, however, didn’t pick up on the underlying meaning. Thinking she was simply asking out of curiosity, he innocently replied,

“Brother V arranged it for me, so I’m not sure. I can ask him for you if you’d like.”

The moment Brother V’s name was mentioned, the expressions of the surrounding cast members shifted—their jealousy and disdain vanished, replaced by friendly smiles.

After all, anyone who could have Brother V as a manager was clearly a highly valued talent in the Min Corporation. Only a fool would make an enemy out of him; building good relations was the smart move.

Bai Tang, unaware of the shift in attitude, simply returned their smiles one by one—his pure, radiant expression seeming to chase away all shadows.

No wonder Min Corporation invested so much effort into promoting Bai Tang. Not just in the entertainment industry—even in other fields, how many people truly remain innocent and naïve once they step into society? Such a pure, unguarded smile was nearly impossible to find anymore, seen only on the faces of children.

“Actors, take your positions! We’re about to begin!” Director Chen’s rough voice boomed through a megaphone.

“Bai Tang, the first scene is my interview for the tutoring position! We have a scene together—how great is that?” Wei Gudong said with a smile.

Walking ahead, she spoke with anticipation, “This is my first drama since graduating from the Film Academy. I’m so nervous!”

She was deliberately emphasizing her professional training. If this had been the original Bai Tang, he would have immediately lowered his head in shame, feeling insecure about his lack of formal education. Her words would have shaken his confidence, affecting his performance.

Unfortunately for her, the Bai Tang standing here now was the little squirrel Bai Tang. He had never undergone professional training, and his reason for acting was not for fame but simply to protect his man and fulfill his mission as the “dumb, sweet, and vicious supporting character”.

However, Bai Tang had no idea what Wei Gudong was actually thinking. He genuinely believed she was nervous about her first filming experience, so he kindly reassured her,

“Don’t worry! It’s your first time acting—it’s completely normal if your performance isn’t perfect. You’ll improve over time.”

Is he calling me an arrogant rookie? Is he flaunting his seniority?!

Wei Gudong felt anything but comforted. Her beautiful face twitched for a brief moment before she quickly regained composure.

“Mhm, mhm! I’ll do my best!” she said, before hurriedly walking into the filming area.

“Cut—!”

“Chen Yi, what’s going on? Why are you zoning out? Is this the time to be daydreaming? Where are your lines?” Director Chen shouted through his megaphone, clearly displeased.

What a stunning scene. Du Yushu’s performance was flawless, yet Chen Yi completely failed to follow up.

“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry! I forgot my lines,” Wei Gudong apologized repeatedly.

Director Chen, considering that she had been recommended by a close friend and was still a newcomer, gave her a brief scolding before allowing them to reshoot.

The early scenes of the drama were almost entirely dialogue-heavy exchanges between Du Yushu and Chen Yi. However, Wei Gudong, playing Chen Yi, kept making mistakes—either zoning out or forgetting her lines. After an entire day’s worth of filming, they hadn’t even completed the opening scene, leaving Director Chen absolutely furious.

“Forget it. Du Yushu, go rest. Chen Yi, stay behind to redo your shots,” he said, his face dark with frustration.

Bai Tang had already changed out of his costume. As he passed by, he noticed Wei Gudong standing in the middle of the set, memorizing her lines. Before leaving, he offered her some words of encouragement.

Patting Wei Gudong on the shoulder, Bai Tang said, “Keep going, don’t get discouraged. Ah Nian told me that once you truly understand the character, it becomes easier to get into the role. You’ll get there too.”

Wei Gudong didn’t know who this ‘Ah Nian’ Bai Tang was referring to, but seeing his sincere expression, she couldn’t bring herself to say anything negative. Instead, she forced a smile, her expression slightly twisted, and said, “I will. Thank you, senior.”

After fulfilling his “senior encouraging junior” duty—something he had read about in the system—Bai Tang turned and walked toward the exit.

“Ah Nian~”

His voice was filled with disbelief. Many of the crew members who had been preparing to wrap up for the day froze in place, watching as Bai Tang rushed toward a man who had suddenly appeared at the door—like a fledgling returning to its nest.

The man was tall and strikingly handsome, his eyes carrying a cold indifference, his entire demeanor exuding authority and an air of nobility. One look, and it was clear—this was not someone to be trifled with.

Yet the moment his gaze landed on Bai Tang, the imposing aura around him softened instantly.

The very second Min Gunian appeared, many people immediately recognized him—this was the man who dominated both finance and entertainment headlines year after year.

Their envy toward Bai Tang deepened.

Wei Gudong’s eyes flickered with jealousy. Even the head of the Min Corporation had personally come to pick up Bai Tang? Just how lucky could he get?

“Didn’t you say you had a meeting?” Bai Tang stopped in front of Min Gunian, his bright eyes sparkling with joy.

Min Gunian nodded at Brother V before gently ruffling Bai Tang’s dark hair. “The meeting is over, so I came to pick you up and take you home.”

“Let’s go home.” Bai Tang eagerly grabbed Min Gunian’s hand and started leading him outside.

Brother V reported to Min Gunian, “Young Master Tang’s filming went very smoothly today.”

“Mm.”

Since Min Gunian had arrived, Brother V took his leave.

“h ’Nian, let me tell you—today, I finished all my scenes in one take! No retakes at all…” Bai Tang excitedly shared his day. It was his first time filming, and he was clearly overjoyed.

“Tang Tang is amazing!” Min Gunian praised him without hesitation, earning a proud and delighted smile from Bai Tang.

Meanwhile, Wei Gudong put down her script. Noticing a piece of clothing left nearby, she picked it up and hurried toward the door.

“Bai Tang, you forgot your—” She ran after him, slightly out of breath, afraid he might leave before she caught up. However, when her eyes landed on Min Gunian, she gasped in shock.

“Y-You’re the CEO of Min Corporation!”

This widely recognized face—belonging to the youngest and most eligible bachelor—was known to almost everyone.

Perhaps it was an instinctive crisis response between the male and female leads, but before Wei Gudong could finish asking, “Bai Tang, is President Min your friend?” Bai Tang quickly interrupted.

“Ah Nian is my boyfriend.” So don’t even think about it.

With that, Bai Tang spread his arms wide, blocking Min Gunian from view.

Min Gunian’s heart pounded wildly at Bai Tang’s words. He desperately wanted to confirm whether Bai Tang was serious.

“Tang Tang, what you just said—”

“You are not allowed to speak right now.” Bai Tang snapped, cutting him off before turning back to remain on guard against the female lead.

Min Gunian: “…”

Wei Gudong bit her lower lip, her eyes gradually turning red.

“I—I’m not… Aren’t we friends? How could you think I’d ever try to steal my friend’s boyfriend?”

Tears welled up in her beautiful eyes, a picture of betrayal and hurt, as if she had been wronged and doubted by someone she trusted.

“Pfft. Who’s your friend? Stop flattering yourself. Shameless.” The system rolled its eyes.

Many of the staff who had been about to leave work paused to watch the unexpected drama unfold.

What is going on? Is this one of those legendary third-party scandals?!

“Miss, you’re being way too dramatic.”

Min Gunian’s single remark turned Wei Gudong’s face pale, instantly drawing a clear line between them.

After all, he was the head of Min Corporation—a tycoon in both the financial and entertainment industries. If he so much as said the word, she’d never set foot in the entertainment world again.

She looked at Bai Tang with pleading eyes, hoping he would say something nice on her behalf.

Not every female lead in the world would try to steal his man, but now that it was clear Wei Gudong was one of them, even the most naïve and sweet Bai Tang would never plead for his romantic rival. Besides, Min Gunian hadn’t even done anything to her. Why would he help her gain a presence in Min Gunian’s mind?

Bai Tang’s uncooperative attitude made Wei Gudong uneasy. She stood there awkwardly in front of the two men, listening to the murmurs and whispers around her. Her face burned as if she had been slapped multiple times.

“Wei Gudong, where the hell did you go? Get over here and reshoot your scene!” Director Chen’s booming voice rescued her.

Wei Gudong let out a sigh of relief and quickly responded, “I’m coming right now!”

Then, turning to Bai Tang, she said, “I thought we were friends. I’m sorry, I must have been overthinking it.” After speaking, she even bowed deeply at a full ninety degrees.

Her apologetic demeanor seemed sincere, and being a pretty girl, the onlookers admired her courage to admit her mistake.

However, Min Gunian paid no attention to these insignificant matters—right now, all he cared about was one thing: whether Bai Tang had meant what he said earlier.

In the car, Bai Tang sat in the passenger seat, puffing up his cheeks in anger, deliberately turning to look out the window.

“Tang Tang, what you said earlier… about being boyfriends… were you joking, or did you mean it?” Min Gunian drove the car, his voice casual but his nerves tense.

“Is that what you think? Fine, yes, I was joking.” Bai Tang was livid. He had clearly said Min Gunian wouldn’t spare another glance at other women, wouldn’t even speak to them—yet he had just been staring at the female lead and even wanted to argue with him.

Min Gunian immediately saw through Bai Tang’s sulking and felt an overwhelming rush of joy. “That’s not true at all. I’m very happy—Tangtang finally acknowledged me.”

“Dating without marriage as the goal is just playing around. Wanting a title without a confession is just getting a free boyfriend.” The system mercilessly added, “The boy I protect? The male lead won’t get him so easily.”

Bai Tang thought for a moment and realized Qiu’er had a point. If Min Gunian ever got together with the female lead, he could simply shrug and say, “I never confessed to you. When did we ever get together?”

The more he thought about it, the more wronged he felt. His eyes quickly filled with tears.

Min Gunian pulled the car over to the side of the road and heard—

“You never even confessed! Y-you’re not really my boyfriend—mmph~”

Lips pressed together.

Min Gunian cradled the back of Bai Tang’s head, deepening the first kiss he had longed for.

Bai Tang’s eyes widened in shock, tears slipping uncontrollably down his cheeks. But soon, he found himself sinking into the embrace of his beloved.

A long while later, the two parted. Min Gunian gently wiped Bai Tang’s tear-streaked face with his thumb before placing a tender kiss on his bright, shining eyes.

“Tang Tang, I like you. Will you be my boyfriend?”

Bai Tang’s face flushed red, his body softening against Min Gunian’s embrace. As he felt the warm breath tickling his ear, wrapped in a cascade of tender words, he slowly nodded.
