Owen hadn’t expected that his usual habit of joking around wouldn’t bring him closer to Bai Tang. Instead, it only made Tian Lingxue more vigilant.
D*mn it, another d(mn fujoshi eyeing my little Tang Tang.
“Since you’re here, you take care of her.” Hudson stepped aside, revealing Tian Lingxue, who was glaring protectively.
Hudson then took Bai Tang’s hand and led him to another table to tutor him, leaving the female lead and the second male lead staring each other down.
Bai Tang sneaked a glance and saw Tian Lingxue angrily pulling out a chair, flipping open a book, and glaring at Owen.
“Got it now?” Hudson leaned in close, his warm breath brushing against Bai Tang’s ear.
The tingling sensation traveled from his ear straight to his heart, leaving behind a sour, indescribable feeling.
“Tang Tang~” Hudson’s voice was laced with endless gentleness, making it impossible to resist.
Bai Tang blushed and shook his head. “N-no… I still don’t understand…”
He didn’t know if it was the original host’s intelligence affecting him or if his squirrel brain was just too small to retain information, but no matter how many times Hudson explained the problem—at least five times—he still couldn’t grasp it. He couldn’t figure out why the original host had been chosen as an exchange student in the first place. Was it just for the sake of the plot?
After spending the entire day at the library, the four of them went out for a feast at a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown, courtesy of Owen.
“The lion’s head meatballs here are truly amazing. Little Tang Tang, give it a try.” Owen, who had been here before, was still clumsy with chopsticks. He awkwardly picked up a meatball, his hands trembling as he tried to place it into Bai Tang’s bowl.
Bai Foodie Tang never refused food. He grinned widely and said sweetly, “Thank you.”
Owen clutched his chest dramatically, Oh~ Little Tang Tang is just too adorable!
Tian Lingxue rolled her eyes. “Tang Tang, the cashews here are nice and crispy. Want to try some?”
At the mention of nuts, Bai Tang’s eyes immediately lit up. He abandoned the half-eaten meatball in his bowl and reached for the plate of cashews Tian Lingxue had pushed toward him.
Tian Lingxue shot Owen a smug look. Ha! Compete with me? You don’t even know what Tang Tang loves the most.
Owen gritted his teeth. D*mn woman, are you deliberately messing with me? Do we have some kind of unresolved grudge?!
However, in the heat of their competition, the two seemed to have completely forgotten about one person—Hudson.
Hudson sat beside Bai Tang and quietly scooped a bowl of porridge for him.
Bai Tang twitched his little nose, inhaling the delicious aroma. Mmm, smells so good~ There are even fruits in it…
Eager to eat, Bai Tang immediately dug in with his spoon. But the moment the steaming hot porridge touched the inside of his mouth, a sharp pain shot through him.
The spoon clattered back into the bowl with a crisp sound, startling the two bickering people across from him.
“T-Tang Tang…!”
Bai Tang’s face flushed red from the burn, yet he stubbornly kept his mouth shut.
“Tang Tang, spit it out!” Hudson urged, nearly prying his mouth open in desperation.
Bai Tang shook his head and refused to comply.
As a thrifty and responsible squirrel, wasting food was absolutely unacceptable.
Perhaps his mouth had already gone numb from the pain, because Bai Tang forced himself to swallow the porridge. Only then did he open his mouth, panting heavily. “So hot, so hot!”
Hudson quickly poured a large glass of cool water and tilted Bai Tang’s chin up, forcing him to drink.
Bai Tang sputtered, swallowing some and choking on the rest, his eyes welling up with reflexive tears.
As the cup neared empty, the grip on his jaw loosened. Seizing the opportunity, Bai Tang shoved Hudson away with all his strength. “What are you doing?!”
What he was met with were Hudson’s fierce, emerald-green eyes.
Bai Tang’s heart skipped a beat. Uh-oh.
Faced with an angry male lead, Bai Tang’s irritation from being force-fed instantly dissipated. When encountering danger, surrender immediately.
