Bai Tang secretly glanced around the classroom. The other students were listening attentively, but Tian Lingxue, like him, was furrowing her brows in frustration.
“At least I’m not alone.”
Bai Tang tried his best to concentrate on the lecture, but it was no use—he couldn’t understand a thing. The heavily accented English words blurred together in his ears, making him drowsy.
Hudson watched as Bai Tang’s head bobbed up and down, drooping lower and lower until it was about to hit the desk. With quick reflexes, he reached out, catching Bai Tang’s forehead in his palm. If he had hit the desk, there was no doubt his forehead would have turned red.
Feeling the unexpected softness, Bai Tang smacked his lips in his sleep and instinctively pulled Hudson’s left hand closer, using it as a pillow.
Hudson’s expression softened, a tenderness he didn’t even realize appearing on his face. He let Bai Tang sleep, right there in the middle of class.
As a top student and a bright presence in the school, Hudson naturally caught the professor’s attention. And since Bai Tang was sitting next to him, the professor quickly noticed the sleeping student.
“Sleeping in my class? That must be the new exchange student. Does he already understand everything? How bold of him to sleep!”
Just as the professor was about to call on Bai Tang to answer a question, he met Hudson’s icy, piercing gaze. A shiver ran down his spine.
Taking another look, he realized that the sleeping student was resting on Hudson’s arm.
Sigh… forget it. He probably hasn’t adjusted to the time difference yet. I’ll let it slide this time.
Owen Bell shot Hudson a series of exaggerated winks, but Hudson didn’t even spare him a glance.
Then, Hudson’s phone vibrated.
It was a message from Owen: [You’re so sneaky! How did you secretly arrange for the little cutie to be in your dorm? I saw him first! 😭]
Hudson glanced at Owen, who was pouting with a pitiful expression. He turned away, looking down at Bai Tang’s sleeping face.
Hmph. Not as cute as Tang Tang.
Thinking back to last night—Bai Tang trembling in his arms, red-eyed and sniffling after choking on water—Hudson felt an inexplicable fondness.
When class ended, Bai Tang, just waking up, rubbed his eyes groggily.
A deep, magnetic voice reached his ears:
“Did you sleep well?”
Bai Tang looked down and realized that he was still holding onto Hudson’s hand. Hudson’s arm, having been pressed against the desk for so long, was now visibly red.
“Sorry,” Bai Tang mumbled, lowering his head. Before Hudson could say anything, Tian Lingxue called out to him.
Hudson immediately recognized the voice—it was the same one from last night’s phone call with Bai Tang. He turned toward the source and saw a rather attractive girl. Watching Bai Tang happily run over to her, Hudson felt an inexplicable sense of displeasure.
Tian Lingxue and Bai Tang huddled together, whispering excitedly. Bai Tang, completely unguarded and openly joyful, made Hudson feel even more irritated.
“Hey, Hudson, did your little Eastern doll abandon you?”
Owen suddenly appeared behind him, slapping his shoulder with a teasing grin. He watched with amusement as Hudson’s usual icy expression darkened.
Others might not notice, but having grown up with Hudson, Owen knew him all too well. It was obvious—Hudson had already taken a liking to Bai Tang, yet he was still pretending to be indifferent.
How amusing.
“Tang Tang, it’s settled then. Tomorrow is the weekend, and you definitely won’t wake up on your own. I’ll come to your dorm to get you, and then we’ll go to the library.”
A scorching gaze suddenly made Bai Tang’s back stiffen.
Turning his head, he met Hudson’s piercing emerald-green eyes staring directly at them.
