Chapter 379 – ABO: The Heaven-Sent Sweetheart – Troublesome (03)
The two little pups were incredibly perceptive. After several twists and turns, they managed to lead Jacob back to the Bai household in no time.
Looking at the two-story house, Bai Tang suddenly remembered what his parents had repeatedly warned him: never let anyone touch your body.
Thinking of his parents, who treated him so well, Bai Tang struggled to jump down from Jacob’s arms. Not wanting to hurt him, Jacob had no choice but to lower him gently to the ground, reminding him nonstop, “Be careful, take it slow.”
Seeing this obvious difference in treatment, Milly felt her heart sour.
The housekeeping robot detected the young master’s return—along with two strangers, one of whom was an exceptionally dangerous, combat-maxed Alpha. The alarm inside the house blared: [viwu viwu.]
The front door opened. The housekeeping robot came out, grabbed Bai Tang, dragged him inside, and shut the door with a loud bang.
The owners had set the robot to protect the young master whenever they were away and never give bad people any chance.
Jacob: “…”
Qiu’er and Xiao A were laughing uncontrollably outside. Even the housekeeping robot treated the male lead like a thief. Truly worthy of being artificial intelligence.
The next second, the door opened again. The housekeeping robot came out with a broom and dustpan, swept the two little pups into the dustpan, and shut the door with another loud bang.
Jacob: What kind of artificial idiot is this?
Qiu’er laughed even harder. He and Xiao A pressed themselves against the window, watching as Jacob and Millie remained outside.
Bai Tang wanted to open the door for Jacob but was stopped by the robot.
[The Alpha outside has an SS-level danger rating. It is not recommended for the young master to go out.]
“It’s fine, I know him. He’s a good person,” Bai Tang tried to explain, but the robot only followed its programming. It even added several more locks to the front door.
Whatever needed to be discussed could wait until the owners came back.
So Bai Tang joined the window-watching team, gazing at Jacob through the glass.
“Go get your arm treated,” Jacob pointed at his own arm, then pointed at Bai Tang’s, indicating he should treat his injury.
In the future interstellar era, any non-serious injury could be healed by a medical robot.
But Bai Tang no longer felt any pain. On the way home, the two systems had already healed him completely. He had simply kept Jacob’s coat wrapped around him, so no one noticed.
“I’m fine, look!”
The boy removed the coat and showed Jacob his smooth, uninjured arm.
The sweetness of Bai Tang’s smile made Jacob unconsciously curve his own lips. Sunlight poured down, illuminating his handsome, flawless profile, leaving Milly completely dazed.
So handsome…
Through the glass, Jacob traced the outline of Bai Tang’s features.
He had finally found the love of his life. It turned out he wasn’t indifferent to omega—he had simply never met the right person until now.
The two of them stood there from noon until sunset. It was only then that Father Bai and Mother Bai returned home, slowly walking up the path.
Seeing two unfamiliar men standing at their door—both exuding strong Alpha auras—Father Bai immediately became alert. The oppressive force of two Alphas collided in the air.
Mother Bai, however, was fine. As a female Beta, she wasn’t sensitive to Alpha pheromones. She was only worried, unsure of what purpose this Alpha had for coming to their home.
When Bai Tang saw his parents had returned, he pushed past the housekeeping robot and opened the door.
“Father, Mother~”
Mother Bai caught her lively son in her arms. The boy’s cheerful, milky voice instantly broke the tension between the two Alphas who had been seconds away from fighting.
“Did Tang Tang behave? You were only supposed to play outside for two hours before coming home.”
Mother Bai had always doted on Bai Tang, but when it came to his personal safety, she was unusually strict.
“I did! When I was out shopping, someone bumped into me, and this big brother saved me~”
Bai Tang wriggled adorably in his mother’s arms, acting cute—and of course, subtly earning points for his future husband in front of his future mother-in-law.
“Hello, madam. I’m Jacob Lowry.” Jacob withdrew all traces of hostility, instantly appearing refined and courteous.
People are visual creatures—beautiful things are always given more tolerance than unattractive ones.
Mother Bai was no exception. Not to mention, she had just heard from her son that this gentleman saved him.
“Hello. Our family name is Bai. Thank you very much for helping our Tang Tang,” she replied.
“It was just a small matter, hardly worth mentioning.” Every gesture Jacob made was full of noble etiquette, leaving a very good impression on Mother Bai.
“Please, come in and have a seat,” she said warmly, inviting him inside.
Milly had followed Jacob there, and Mother Bai naturally assumed they had come together, so she invited her in warmly as well.
When Father Bai walked past Jacob, he let out a heavy snort.
He shot Jacob a warning look — don’t you dare have any funny ideas.
As a fellow Alpha, Father Bai could easily detect Jacob’s intentions. The way Jacob looked at Tang Tang was the same way he looked at his own wife. Plenty of people liked their Tang Tang; where had this suddenly-appearing Alpha come from?!
“Father, come in quickly~” Bai Tang urged.
Hearing the call from his beloved son, Father Bai immediately quickened his pace, even walking with a little swagger. “Coming.”
Qiu’er scrolled through the information on Father and Mother Bai. Xiao A read the text and sighed: “Such a childish Alpha.”
Wasn’t it true? Father Bai had grown up on a small planet, without big ambitions. He and Mother Bai were childhood sweethearts, married when they reached adulthood, and later had Bai Tang. The three of them lived a simple, peaceful life.
Until one day, Bai Tang’s pheromones changed from Beta to Omega. Only then did Father and Mother Bai realize their son was a recessive omega. According to the law, they should have sent Bai Tang to the Omega Protection Association. But their child was their treasure. Asking them to “give away” their child in exchange for the prosperity and future of the entire planet—Father and Mother Bai simply couldn’t do it.
They were ordinary people, with no such lofty ideals. Looking at their pure, innocent Bai Tang, how could they possibly hand him over? They didn’t understand the rules of the aristocratic circles, but they had heard enough rumors about their debauchery. Tang Tang had never been exposed to such things; he didn’t know any of it. Sending him away would be sending him to die.
To conceal Bai Tang’s omega scent, Father and Mother Bai spent most of their savings to connect with the black market and purchase suppressants. They also forbade Bai Tang from running around outside.
The housekeeping robot served tea. Mother Bai had always liked ancient-style things, and Father Bai was happy to indulge his wife. The whole family accepted it and followed her preferences.
Milly sipped the tea and was almost moved to tears.
The familiar taste was almost no different from the food in the modern era.
Milly had followed Jacob on the road for an entire day and had only eaten a single nutrient tube with a strange flavor. She didn’t even know how to describe it—just that it was indescribably disgusting.
“Mr. Lowry, Miss Milly, thank you for saving our child. This is just a small token of appreciation. I hope you won’t mind,” Mother Bai said as she handed them a card. Inside were point-coins, the equivalent of money.
Milly was short on cash and silently praised her luck. When you need something, it comes. She was about to accept it, but Jacob gently pushed the card back.
“Mrs. Bai, you’re being too polite.”
If he accepted the money, it would be the same as severing the debt between him and Bai Tang. But Jacob was still planning how to win the boy over, so of course he wouldn’t take it.
Bai Tang came out of the kitchen carrying the snacks he had made himself and happily sat next to Jacob.
“Try it! I made it myself~”
When the boy smiled, two small dimples appeared on his round cheeks. Jacob’s heart skipped a beat. He wanted to taste and see if he was as sweet as he looked.
He leaned forward and ate the bear-shaped cookie directly from the boy’s hand. The milky aroma mixed with hazelnut spread across his mouth.
“It’s delicious.” Jacob smiled and patted the boy’s head. The soft, fine hair was irresistible to the touch.
But with Father and Mother Bai present, Jacob reluctantly withdrew his hand. The gloom in his heart seemed to fade under the boy’s bright smile.
“Ahem.”
Father Bai gave a fake cough. Once Bai Tang pulled his hand back, Father Bai shot Jacob a fierce glare.
“Since Mr. Lowry and Miss Milly won’t accept the money, I won’t insist. From your accents, it seems you’re not from this planet. If you need help with anything, feel free to ask. If it’s something we can help with, we certainly will.”
Milly, originally disappointed, immediately perked up.
They weren’t taking the money—but they still needed to make money. If Father and Mother Bai could introduce her to a job, that would be perfect.
After Milly explained her request, Father and Mother Bai agreed readily. It was no trouble at all to help introduce a job.
Father Bai then looked at Jacob. The latter smiled.
“I think I could use a job as well. What do you think—how about a position as a butler?”
Bai Tang looked at his father with sparkling anticipation.
If Jacob could stay and live in their house, that would be perfect.
Let the heroine live outside, the male lead inside—keep the two separated.
“Father, can he?” Father Bai was about to refuse, but Bai Tang cut him off. Seeing his son’s hopeful expression, he couldn’t bear to disappoint him. But then he remembered Jacob was an Alpha, and having him live at home really wasn’t appropriate.
“The shop is still short of staff. If Mr. Lowry doesn’t mind, he could help out at the store. Food and lodging are provided there—it would be very convenient.” Anyway, they absolutely could NOT bring a wolf into the house.
Jacob happily agreed, and Milly was recommended by Mother Bai to work at a friend’s flower shop.
Milly was a young woman, after all, and since they often had to deal with black market traders, it wasn’t convenient for her to stay at the shop.
As long as the male and female leads were separated, Bai Tang was delighted.
“Then we’ll see each other at the shop from now on~” The boy grinned as he sent Father Bai and Jacob out the door.
“All right, see you at the shop.” Jacob understood well that haste makes waste. As long as he had the opportunity to interact with the boy, there was no need to worry about getting close—or eventually whisking him away.
Father Bai took the two to familiarize themselves with the area, leaving only Mother Bai and Bai Tang at home.
Watching her precious son staring blankly toward the doorway, Mother Bai let out a barely audible sigh. It seems her son had fallen for someone… but Bai Tang’s identity…
They were running low on omega suppressants, and the prices were climbing higher and higher. What would they do in the future…?
Mother Bai was filled with worry. And after seeing Bai Tang bring home an Alpha today, she began considering the idea of finding a strong, devoted Alpha who could protect him wholeheartedly.
