“Alright then~” Bai Tang was someone who didn’t know how to refuse people—especially not the female lead, who had always been kind to him.
However, the moment Bai Tang stood at the entrance of the amusement park, he regretted it.
The towering roller coaster roared past with the deafening screams of its riders; colorful bumper cars crashed into each other with loud bang bang bang sounds; the high-speed drop tower shot up and down so fast that it almost left afterimages…
Bai the timid squirrel Tang could barely stand still. Leaning against a black lamppost, he turned to the eager Tian Lingxue and said, “Lingxue, I’m feeling a bit unwell. You go ahead and have fun—I’ll just wait here for you.”
“Tang Tang, you’re not scared, are you?” The system, ever since its upgrade, had become way too human-like. Even its tone carried a teasing chill.
“Aren’t you scared?” Bai Tang shot back. “Look at that haunted house… the statue at the entrance… doesn’t it look just like the ghost woman from two nights ago?”
“Aahhh—stop talking, stop talking!” The system instantly regretted its enhanced eyesight. Following Bai Tang’s gaze, it saw the eerie ghost statue standing at the entrance. At that moment, Bai Tang took full advantage of the system’s terrified shriek—swiftly cutting off their connection.
System: “Tang Tang, I was wrong! Let me out! I don’t want to be locked in the dark room—waaahh~~~”
“Tang Tang, since we’re already here, let’s at least ride the carousel!” Tian Lingxue grinned, grabbing Bai Tang’s hand and pulling him toward the ticket booth.
She had done her research—despite Hudson’s usual cold and untouchable demeanor, he was actually afraid of ghosts. She refused to believe it wouldn’t shatter Bai Tang’s perception of Hudson once he saw the guy scared out of his wits.
What Tian Lingxue didn’t know, however, was that the so-called “inside information” she had painstakingly gathered was nothing more than baseless gossip spread by people jealous of Hudson. It was just a petty attempt to tarnish his reputation. Hudson himself didn’t even care about such insignificant rumors.
The carousel was probably the safest ride in the entire amusement park—suitable for all ages. Even Bai Tang, who had been trembling with fear at first, couldn’t help but smile when the merry-go-round started spinning. The cheerful music and the laughter of children brought back memories of him freely leaping through the forest as a young squirrel.
“Tang Tang, you really need to work on your courage. This isn’t scary at all!” The system, now free from its dark prison, tried to act all high and mighty—only to shrink under Bai Tang’s glare.
“I was wrong! Tang Tang, please don’t lock me in the dark room again, it’s really scary in there!”
While the system was busy bargaining with Bai Tang, Hudson and Owen arrived at the amusement park as well, having been invited.
As soon as Bai Tang stepped off the carousel, he spotted Hudson standing at the exit, holding a bag of his favorite nuts.
“Xiao Tang Tang, come give me a hug~ Ah—d*mn woman—” This was Owen, who had spread his arms wide, hoping to sneak a touch, only to be nearly tripped by Tian Lingxue’s well-aimed kick.
“Tang Tang, come here.” Hudson unwrapped the bag, and Bai Tang, with his sharp sense of smell, twitched his nose. The rich, nutty aroma lured him in, and he practically skipped over, his bright, watery eyes brimming with delight.
“Chomp~” For a squirrel who loved to eat, there was no greater happiness than having a mouth full of nuts.
Hudson’s eyes were filled with amusement as he reached out to ruffle Bai Tang’s hair. The soft, familiar texture was as pleasant as ever. Even though they were holding the exact same brand of nuts, why did Bai Tang’s scent always carry such a faint, soothing lavender fragrance that lingered at his fingertips?
“Xiao Tang Tang, you said you weren’t feeling well—no more nuts for you.” Having dealt with Owen, Tian Lingxue dusted off her clothes (though there was no actual dust to be found).
