Chapter 2 – Campus Arc: A Glamorous Romance – The Cinderella Sweetheart’s Endless Love (2)
Bai Tang had only bumped foreheads with Hudson, not anything hard, so naturally, he was fine.
The school doctor pulled Hudson aside. “Kid, when did you get yourself a little boyfriend?”
“He’s a new junior. Don’t talk nonsense,” Hudson replied with a straight face—if you ignored the light pink creeping up his ears.
After leaving the medical room, Hudson, in his capacity as student council president and senior, helped Bai Tang complete his enrollment and dormitory registration. Bai Tang simply followed along behind him.
“This will be your dorm room from now on,” Hudson said as he led Bai Tang to the door and opened it. The room was spotless, the walls had been decorated in a calming forest green, and there were potted plants arranged on the windowsill.
Bai Tang was delighted, his eyes curving into crescent moons as he smiled. “Thank you, Senior.”
“Hudson.”
“Huh?” Bai Tang looked confused.
“Just call me Hudson,” he clarified.
Bai Tang blinked in surprise, then quickly understood. Smiling, he said, “Thank you, Hudson.”
Bai Tang secretly nudged the system. “Qiu’er, the male lead looks pretty fierce, but he’s actually really gentle.”
The system replied weakly, “That’s good. Then you don’t have to be scared anymore~”
Sensing that something was off, Bai Tang quickly asked, “Qiu’er, what’s wrong? Are you sick?”
At that moment, the system glanced at its dwindling energy reserves and said, “No, systems don’t get sick. I’m just running low on energy. Until we finish this world and I can recharge, I need to conserve power. Tang Tang, don’t worry—I’m switching to power-saving mode. I won’t be able to chat with you as much, but I’ll still come out to remind you at important plot points.”
“It’s okay, Qiu’er. Take care of yourself. I’ll definitely complete the mission and replenish your energy,” Bai Tang promised firmly.
After that, the system fell silent—probably having entered its energy-saving sleep mode.
Bai Tang noticed that Hudson had been standing around for a while and asked curiously, “Hudson, aren’t you going back to your dorm?”
Hudson had just stepped out of the bathroom, shirtless, while drying his hair. “My dorm is right here.”
Bai Tang’s eyes widened. He… He’s sharing a room with the male lead?
But wasn’t Hudson’s dorm supposed to be next door? This was strange.
Bai Tang watched as Hudson naturally opened his wardrobe and took out some clothes. Droplets of water from his recent shower trailed down his neck and over his abs—his perfectly sculpted V-line was on full display. Bai Tang touched his own soft, flat stomach and couldn’t help but feel envious of the male lead.
With Qiu’er in sleep mode, there was no one to chat with. Even though Bai Tang thought the male lead was a good person, he still felt intimidated by his cold expression.
Oh right, if he didn’t want to talk to the male lead, there was still the female lead!
Happily, Bai Tang dialed the female lead’s number. The phone barely rang twice before Tian Lingxue picked up.
“Hello, Tang Tang! Have you finished unpacking?” Her side of the call was noisy—ear-splitting music blared in the background.
“I’m all settled. What about you?” Bai Tang stole a glance at the male lead and saw that he had already turned on his computer, fully focused on his work.
Tian Lingxue stepped out of the dorm, and the music quieted slightly.
“I’m all unpacked too! My roommates are really friendly—they even threw a welcome party for me!” Her voice was bright and cheerful, clearly in a great mood.
“My roommate is also really nice,” Bai Tang replied in Chinese, figuring that Hudson wouldn’t understand what he was saying.
But did Hudson really not understand? Of course not. He was mixed-race, and his mother was Chinese. He had no trouble listening, speaking, reading, or writing in Chinese.
Hearing Bai Tang praise him sent a warm feeling through Hudson’s heart, though his face remained completely unreadable.
