Chapter 165 – Master, do you choose to die or to perish? (6)
Yun Ze stood to the side, holding onto Yan Luo’s arm, observing with an indiscernible gleam in his eyes. His chubby, fair face displayed a look of obedience, with his head slightly tilted.
Suddenly, Yan Luo pulled her hand from Yun Ze’s grasp. Yun Ze, taken aback for a moment, watched as her hand slipped away.
Yun Ze blinked his large eyes in confusion, looking somewhat bewildered.
Yan Luo couldn’t help but curve her lips slightly, though there was no hint of emotion in her voice saying, “Continue.”
—Continue?
Watching Yan Luo walk back to her previous position, Yun Ze finally understood what she meant by ‘continue.’
“You can go prepare first,” she added after a pause, “I’ve never taken a disciple before. If there’s anything I’m not thorough about, you can ask Lin Qing.”
Gu Sicun, hearing this, paused slightly, his gaze softening further.
His Master, despite the rumors of her being emotionless and aloof, was actually very kind-hearted and responsible, if a bit uncommunicative. She was thorough in her considerations.
With this thought, the stone in his heart finally settled. His eyes showed a hint of determination as he took his books and left.
“Focus.”
Yun Ze’s gaze lingered on Gu Sicun’s departing figure, with a thoughtful look in his eyes, but suddenly, his head was tapped.
Looking up, he saw Yan Luo standing before him, with a hint of displeasure in her eyes. She held her pale blue crystal fan, her life-bound magic weapon.
Yan Luo looked into Yun Ze’s large eyes, which were still filled with lingering confusion and unease. He was still young, with cute baby fat on his face, and his small hand instinctively gripped her clothes.
Her eyes softened slightly as she repeated, “Continue.”
Her tone was much gentler.
Only then did Yun Ze let go, nodding as he returned to his original position and resumed circulating his spiritual energy.
Thanks to the original owner’s memories and Yan Luo’s innate talent and skills given by the system, guiding someone else’s cultivation was not a problem.
After pointing out a few issues Yun Ze had, Yan Luo gave a brief demonstration. When she looked up, she saw Yun Ze seemed a bit distracted.
Raising an eyebrow, she asked, “What’s wrong?”
Yun Ze hesitated, then spoke in a soft, sticky voice, “Master, they say dual spiritual roots should focus on one aspect. Which one do you think I should focus on?”
Yan Luo raised an eyebrow, feeling a strange sensation.
Though it was a normal question, Yan Luo felt something was off.
The original owner had chosen the water spiritual root for Yun Ze to help him control his mutated water root better, making it easier for her to guide him.
But the thunder root had stronger offensive capabilities. Focusing on it could help him protect himself better.
With a thoughtful look, Yan Luo finally spoke under Yun Ze’s increasingly conflicted gaze, “Dual spiritual roots can cultivate both attributes. I have ice root, so guiding water root cultivation is easier for me.”
“Then I’ll focus on water?” Yun Ze nodded, a smile still on his lips.
“No rush.” Yan Luo raised her hand to pat Yun Ze’s head, her words surprising him, “I also have some techniques of the thunder root. Let’s see your talent before deciding.”
Yun Ze stared at Yan Luo for a long moment before nodding obediently.
