Part 3 of Chapter 70
Please Like Her 21 – Let’s spend every holiday together in the future.
“Sister—”
It was Xiao Mi’s voice that brought Shang Lu back from her flashback.
Shang Lu smiled and looked at Xiao Mi, asking, “What’s wrong?”
Xiao Mi handed the cute and delicate little dolls won from the competition to Shang Lu and said earnestly, “This is for Sister.”
Shang Lu hugged the two dolls, lowered her head and lightly touched Xiao Mi’s forehead with her own, saying, “Thank you, Xiao Mi. Sister really likes it.”
Chi Yan spoke in a slightly displeased tone: “Why don’t you thank me? Do you know how inappropriate those expressions were? They were just making things difficult for the adults, and my face is practically frozen.”
“Yes, yes, thank you too,” Shang Lu replied without looking at Chi Yan, appearing somewhat perfunctory.
She couldn’t help but dwell on what had just happened.
Chi Yan also noticed Shang Lu’s unusual behavior and tried to console her, “My Mom must’ve said something strange to you, don’t take it too seriously. I haven’t spent much time with her from childhood to now; she’s always traveling around the world, claiming to save the world. She only appears occasionally and drops a few cryptic words.”
Just like the year he was in high school, his Mom suddenly proposed that he go abroad, saying it was based on a divination, and if he stayed in the country, he would be very unhappy but powerless to change it.
At that time, Chi Yan didn’t understand what his Mom meant, but after seeing the scar on Shang Lu’s waist, he seemed to understand some of it.
Whether it was Chi Yan or his Dad, many times, they couldn’t understand their mother/wife, but they tried to respect her decisions as much as possible.
Shang Lu : “…?”
This makes it even stranger, right? Is Mother Chi a witch, or maybe a psychic? Do such people really exist in this world?
Forget it, it’s not important.
Yeah, it’s not important.
After dinner, they walked to the best viewing area for fireworks.
There was still half an hour until 8 o’clock.
Throughout the amusement park, you could see small tables with red lucky bags placed on them, which was a feature of this amusement park.
On every holiday, they provided different prayer items for visitors to write down their wishes on square pieces of paper, fold them twice, put them in red cloth bags, and hang them on trees. The next day, the staff would collect them all.
This was one of the things Shang Lu had planned to do before coming here.
It was just a beautiful prayer. Shang Lu admired the Gods but didn’t believe in getting something for nothing through wishing.
So today, she wanted to be a ‘God’ herself.
Shāng Lù handed two pieces of paper to Chiyàn and Xiǎo Mǐ, saying, “Let’s write ours too.”
Both of them took the paper and began writing with their heads down.
This was the first time she did such a ‘sneaky’ thing to Chi Yan and Xiao Mi, so Shang Lu felt a bit nervous and couldn’t help but remind, “It’s best if it’s something that can be realized in the near future. There are some things even the Gods can’t do.”
Of course, it’s mainly that she can’t do it.
Shang Lu silently scolded herself. What’s going on? She almost slipped up and revealed the truth because of her poor acting.
But when she saw that Chi Yan and Xiao Mi didn’t react strangely, she breathed a sigh of relief.
Shang Lu shook her head hard and told herself not to think about what had happened.
Suddenly, Chi Yan raised his head and glanced at Shang Lu as if in deep thought.
For a moment, Shang Lu felt a pang of guilt. She immediately lowered her head and wrote her wish on the piece of paper she held.
She seemed to have no wish.
So in the end, Shang Lu wrote, [ I hope I will always be myself ].
Chi Yan and Xiao Mi quickly finished writing their wishes on the paper, folded them, and then Shang Lu took the initiative to help them put the papers into the red cloth bag, tie them up, and hang them on the tree one by one.
Shang Lu suddenly said, “The fireworks will be set off soon, and I want to eat popcorn!”
These two things had nothing to do with each other.
But Chi Yan complied and said, “I’ll go buy some.”
Only Shang Lu and Xiao Mi were left.
Shang Lu said again, “I’m a little thirsty, and my feet hurt.”
Xiao Mi was also very considerate, “Sister, I’ll go buy some.”
Watching the backs of Xiao Mi and Chi Yan as they left, Shang Lu took the opportunity to quickly remove the red cloth bags they had hung up.
She first opened Xiao Mi’s bag and was surprised to find that it read, [ I want to take a family photo with all Brothers, Sisters, and Mom and Dad].”
Mom and Dad were Wang Rong and Xue Zishan, and the brothers and sisters naturally referred to everyone from Xiao Taoyan and Chi Yan.
It was such a simple wish.
Of course, Shang Lu could make it come true.
Shang Lu remembered this in her heart and put the paper back into the red cloth bag, hanging it on the tree again.
Then she opened Chi Yan’s wish.
She was somewhat anxious, but when she saw the words on it, she was completely stunned.
There were only six simple words.
[Shang Lu is happy and successful ]
Chi Yan’s wish, is it really about her?
This should also be a wish she can fulfill, right?
On the other side, behind the tree.
Chi Yan looked at Xiao Mi beside him and asked, “Aren’t you going to buy some water?”
Xiao Mi replied, “You didn’t go buy popcorn either.”
Chi Yan responded directly, “She’s too obvious.”
Xiao Mi found it a bit strange, “Yeah, Sister acted really well at my house.”
Just a moment ago, Shang Lu showed clear signs of nervousness, even a slip of the tongue. Both of them noticed, but no one exposed it.
They exchanged a glance, and one went to buy popcorn, and the other went to buy water.
When they came back, Shang Lu took the popcorn with an unconcerned look, took a sip of water.
Actually, she was already full. She couldn’t resist eating two pieces of cake just now, so she couldn’t eat much more.
Shang Lu regretted not having Chi Yan buy something else.
Chi Yan reached out with one hand and took the bucket of popcorn from her. He picked two pieces and put them in his mouth, holding the popcorn bucket with one hand.
He gazed ahead, where many people had already gathered.
Shang Lu also put the water in her bag.
There were only five minutes left until the fireworks would go off.
The crowd was getting a bit noisy, and countless people took out their phones, waiting for the moment when the fireworks would burst into beautiful colors.
Finally, the clock struck midnight.
In the last few seconds, Shang Lu pursed her lips and took Xiao Mi and Chi Yan’s hands voluntarily.
She treated them differently.
When holding Xiao Mi’s hand, she completely wrapped her hand around Xiao Mi’s, but when holding Chi Yan’s hand, she just lightly held a few of his fingers.
The fireworks burst in the sky, stunningly beautiful, accompanied by the cheers of numerous onlookers.
However, Shang Lu felt her right hand being released, and it seemed that Chi Yan had pulled his hand away from her.
Shang Lu was a bit stunned.
The fireworks were still beautiful in front of her, but her mind went blank for a moment.
Did Chi Yan reject her?
Indeed, even a great diviner couldn’t predict everything accurately.
And the next second, the man’s large hand went directly through her fingers, transforming the simple hand-holding into interlocking fingers.
He held her hand very tightly, as if he would never let go.
Shang Lu’s attention suddenly shifted.
She thought of his Mom wearing a shoulder-baring dress at such weather. It seemed like a genetic trait; Chi Yan’s hand was much warmer than hers.
The five fingers, which had been slightly curled in the air, slowly descended at this moment and pressed against his knuckles, as if in response.
Even though it was just holding hands, she seemed to hear an unmistakable heartbeat in the midst of the noise, not knowing if it was hers or Chi Yan’s.
The five-minute fireworks quickly ended.
The romantic holiday atmosphere seemed to come to a temporary end, just like Cinderella’s carriage would turn back into a pumpkin at midnight.
But Chi Yan still didn’t let go of her hand.
So the carriage would never turn into a pumpkin; she was his princess, and she had never been a Cinderella.
He whispered, “Let’s spend every holiday together from now on.”
When holding Xiao Mi’s hand, she completely wrapped her hand around Xiao Mi’s, but when holding Late Yan’s hand, she just lightly held a few of his fingers.
Chi Yan?
Oops, sorry ’bout that! It’s fixed now, thanks!
