Part 4 of Chapter 69
Please Like Her 20 – Trip to the amusement park
Losing a round like this left Shang Lu feeling unsatisfied, but her emotions always came and went quickly. Her attention was soon drawn to the trampoline not far away, which was actually what she wanted to play with the most when coming here.
The staff introduced them to the special feature of the trampoline: every visitor could be equipped with a toy gun that could shoot tennis balls when the trigger was pressed. On the opposite wall, there were many plush dolls that they could target with the toy guns. If they hit a string, there was a chance the doll would fall.
Of course, while using the toy gun, they had to maintain a bouncing position on the trampoline.
Shang Lu was eager to try it out, so she and Chi Yan each received a toy gun with ten ‘bullets’ The toy gun looked quite large and, naturally, heavier.
In this situation, it’s very challenging to maintain jumping while holding the gun and firing ‘bullets.’
Even the dolls on the wall weren’t easy to take down. Shang Lu had fired five shots and felt exhausted, so she put the gun aside and started jumping vigorously to disrupt Chi Yan.
After firing ten ‘bullets,’ Chi Yan also failed the challenge.
Indeed, they are just ordinary people not good at games.
Shanglu was getting tired as well and decided to sit down.
The bouncing on the trampoline gradually subsided.
Chiyuan also sat across from her and asked, “Are you tired?”
Shanglu nodded honestly and said, “Let’s take a break.”
After playing so many games before, she had never felt so exhausted in just ten minutes. It was really physically demanding.
Shang Lu remembered watching TV when she was a child, and her greatest desire was to jump on a trampoline, thinking that kids who could bounce around on it must be very happy.
Now that she had grown up and actually come here, she was quite happy, as it could be seen as fulfilling her childhood wish. But it wasn’t as interesting as she had imagined, and it certainly wasn’t as comfortable as the sofa at her home.
Her sofa not only allowed for jumping but also somersaults, which was even better.
And if she kept jumping on the trampoline, it could really tire her out.
Shang Lu’s mind wandered, but suddenly she felt her bottom leave the trampoline, and her whole body was thrown into the air.
Shanglu looked curiously at the source of the commotion next to her and saw a few seven or eight-year-old kids who had come up at some point. They were happily jumping as if in a competition.
Some of the kids fell, but they quickly got up, laughed, and jumped even harder, trying to knock their friends down as well.
Shang Lu stood up, holding onto the nearby handle, and felt a sense of relief in her heart.
It wasn’t because the trampoline wasn’t as fun as she had imagined; it was because she had already missed the age when she would have enjoyed such things.
Shang Lu looked at Chi Yan, smiled, and said, “Let’s go.”
Chi Yan was slightly surprised; he remembered the question Shang Lu had asked him when she stood on the sofa last time and knew that this was something Shang Lu liked. He asked, “Aren’t you going to play a little longer?”
“I’m no longer a child; this isn’t a game suitable for me,” Shang Lu’s voice was very serious, and her posture seemed a bit lonely, giving a hint of sadness.
In the next second, her voice became fierce again, “Go, Chi Yan! Keep playing on the seesaw! This time, I’ll make you fly! I’m going to reclaim everything I’ve lost!”
Yes, she was no longer the age for longing for a trampoline.
Even though it was really fun to bounce the first few times, but isn’t it tiring after a while?!
Sitting down all the time would be more relaxing, which was another reason why Shang Lu used to like swings.
So from today, her favorite thing in the amusement park was no longer the trampoline but…
The seesaw!
After lunch.
The three of them embarked on another adventure in a different area of the park.
The most famous attraction in this amusement park was the roller coaster, rated by netizens as the most thrilling roller coaster in the entire capital city. Not riding it once would be a lifelong regret.
Shang Lu had never ridden a roller coaster, but she didn’t want to leave any regrets in her life.
Xiao Mi held Shang Lu’s hand, feeling a bit nervous, and asked, “Sister, aren’t you afraid?”
Shang Lu shook her head and said confidently, “Not afraid, don’t worry, Sister will protect you.”
…
No!
Let her get off! She regretted it! She was scared! She was terrified!!!
Shang Lu never considered herself afraid of heights. When she did bungee jumping, she didn’t feel afraid due to the sensation of weightlessness. But who could tell her why this roller coaster rotated so dramatically?
She had lost count of how many 360-degree spins they had done, and all she could hear was the howling wind.
Shang Lu felt like her soul was about to be blown away by this gust of wind.
So, this was how roller coasters were: a hundred times scarier than bungee jumping. The sudden sensation of weightlessness was genuinely frightening!
Xiao Mi had already screamed a few times due to fear, and Shang Lu’s lips trembled as she tried to act brave. She patted Xiao Mi’s hand to comfort her, “It’s not scary at all.”
Then Shang Lu saw a steep 90-degree drop in front of her.
She had to slide down from here?
Help! Let her get off! She didn’t want to do this!
In Shang Lu’s mind, two little people suddenly appeared, arguing with each other.
One said, Scream out loud. If you’re scared, it’s okay to shout. There’s no problem.
The other said, No, if you scream, Xiao Mi will be even more scared. For Xiao Mi’s sake, you have to hold back.
Looking at herself, she was getting closer and closer to the downhill.
Shang Lu’s mind was blank.
Should she hold back or scream? That was the question.
Before Shang Lu could make a decision, a very intense scream suddenly erupted behind her.
Shang Lu : “…”
Although her brain seemed to be on the verge of shutting down, why did she find this voice so familiar?
But Shang Lu didn’t have time to think about it. She was already on this 90-degree downhill.
Shang Lu shouted, “Ahhhh, Xiao Mi, it’s not scary at all, Ahhhh!”
Oh well, she couldn’t hold back any longer.
Shang Lu also screamed.
Although it felt terrifying, after the sensation of weightlessness disappeared, Shang Lu felt a sense of exhilaration and realized that the pressure had been released, and she inexplicably felt much more relaxed.
So Shang Lu couldn’t help but suggest, “Let’s go again!”
She seemed to be falling in love with roller coasters!
Xiao Mi waved her hands repeatedly, “You guys go, I’ll wait for you down here.”
The girl’s face was already pale, she had taken several sips of water, and her legs were a bit wobbly.
After confirming that Xiao Mi was really okay, Shang Lu returned to the roller coaster queue, and Chi Yan followed.
Because the amusement park wasn’t very crowded today, they were able to ride again after one round.
This time, Shang Lu chose the last row, thinking that it would be a bit more reassuring to have more people in front of her.
And this time, Chi Yan sat beside her.
Experiencing several 360-degree spins again, the thrill was the same as before, but Shang Lu was starting to enjoy it more than she had been afraid.
Until they reached that 90-degree downhill once more.
Shang Lu’s heart was still pounding, but in her mind, she kept telling herself: Don’t be afraid! Don’t scream this time! You can hold it in! Be brave! The last row isn’t as scary…
Wait a minute! Why does this view look even scarier than before?!
Shang Lu couldn’t understand, but since Xiao Mi wasn’t there, she couldn’t help but scream.
Trembling, she opened her mouth, and this time, the scream from beside her rang out again.
It was very familiar, the same voice as before.
Shang Lu : “…”
Although her soul still danced with the wind, she suddenly didn’t want to scream anymore because she had something more important to ask.
Shang Lu slowly turned her head to look at Chi Yan beside her and, amidst the howling wind, shouted in incomprehension, “What are you doing? Don’t make such a loud scream with that calm expression! You’re not scared at all, are you!!!”
Chi Yan stopped.
While the people in the front were still screaming, the two of them remained in silent eye contact.
Then, Chi Yan calmly explained, “I was afraid you’d feel embarrassed, so I’m keeping you company.”
Shang Lu : “…”
Thank you. I was okay before, but suddenly, it’s a bit of a blow, and I feel like I’m not as tough as I thought.
Indeed, in the whole amusement park, her favorite was still the seesaw!
Wow, the seesaw is really super fun!
Don’t leave Xiao Mi alone ಠ_ಠ
I don’t think all people screaming on rollercoasters are scared.. so just do because it seems like something you’re supposed to do there.
Exactly. The roller coaster is made as a place for people to be able to scream without being judged. 😅 It’s supposed to rise your adrenaline release in your system. Then, the scream is the healthy way to express/vent the adrenaline along with whatever bottle up emotions you have.
