Becoming Popular Through The “All Villains” Variety Show – Chapter 69 Part 2

Part 2 of Chapter 69

Please Like Her 20 – Trip to the amusement park

As if possessed by something, Shang Lu’s body reacted before her brain.

When she realized it, Shang Lu found that she had already grabbed Chi Yan’s hem.

After realizing that her actions were somewhat inexplicable, Shang Lu immediately found a reason and asked, “Why hasn’t Xiao Mi returned yet?”

Chi Yan glanced at her and replied, “She still has two more people ahead of her.”

At this moment, the two girls had already arrived in front of them.

One of them had a slightly red face and asked, “Sorry to disturb, but are you two a couple?”

Shang Lu had already figured it out; this girl had been trying to strike up a conversation with Chi Yan, but hesitated until now due to her presence next to him. However, at this moment, Chi Yan didn’t give a direct answer but looked at Shang Lu.

Shang Lu was taken aback, and blurted out, “…No!”

As soon as the words were spoken, Shang Lu immediately lowered his eyelashes and avoided Chi Yan’s gaze.

It seemed like she had said the wrong thing; this answer wasn’t appropriate. Although their relationship wasn’t what these girls were thinking, after being friends for so long, it wouldn’t hurt to be a shield for Chi Yan once. Why did she deny it outright and block his possible escape route?

But… this girl was so pretty and cute. Chi Yan might actually like this type. So, it shouldn’t be a problem if she denied it, right?

Two conflicting voices suddenly raged within Shang Lu’s heart.

Upon hearing Shang Lu’s response, the girl accompanying the one who asked the question immediately smiled and encouraged her companion, saying, “I told you they definitely aren’t a couple. They haven’t even held hands for so long. Maybe they’re siblings or something.”

“No, no,” Chi Yan’s voice carried a hint of amusement, but he also seemed a bit distressed. “I had a fight with my girlfriend a couple of days ago, and she’s still mad at me. That’s why she said that. I’m sorry.”

The girl who initiated the conversation showed a hint of disappointment on her face but quickly said, “It’s okay. We could tell you two are a great match. I was just thinking, maybe… Since you have a girlfriend, I won’t bother you. I hope you two make up soon and have a great time.”

The friend of the girl cast a disdainful look at Chi Yan and said, “Are you a straight guy? If your girlfriend agreed to come to the amusement park with you, it means she’s forgiven you. You’ve been standing here playing with that red string the whole time, completely ignoring your girlfriend. No wonder she’s upset.”

Chi Yan found himself unfairly bearing the blame, but he wasn’t angry. Instead, he asked for advice, “So, what should I do?”

The girl’s friend gave him some earnest guidance, “If you’re a man, hold her hand, get close, and be affectionate… never mind, this is a public place. You’re so good-looking; you should use that to your advantage. Get closer, act pitiful, apologize sincerely, and then focus all your attention on her. Stop playing with that stupid red string. Since your girlfriend agreed to come to the amusement park with you, you just need to give her an opening, you know?”

Chi Yan nodded and humbly accepted guidance, saying, “Thank you, I’ve learned.”

Shang Lu remained silent throughout, trying to keep a low profile. However, when she felt two ‘intense’ gazes directed at her, she raised her head in bewilderment, locking eyes with two girls who were radiating curiosity.

Shang Lu had her face completely covered, revealing only her eyes.

One of the girls who had initiated the conversation exclaimed, “She’s so pretty! Even like this, you can tell she’s a beauty!”

Her friend immediately turned to Chi Yan and urged, “What are you waiting for? Follow what I just taught you. How can you not know how to treat such a beautiful girlfriend?”

Shang Lu : “…”

In just a second, it seemed like they had transformed from ‘girlfriend fans’ to ‘CP fans.’ The whole scene was rather peculiar.

Just as Shang Lu was silently complaining, her hand was suddenly held.

In the cold winter, her previously somewhat stiff hands were suddenly enveloped in warmth.

Chi Yan lowered his eyelashes, looking at her with a softer tone in his voice, “I know I was wrong. Can you forgive me?”

This unexpected drama.

As an actress, in order to end this farce, Shang Lu could only say, “Okay, but there won’t be a next time.”

She initially thought that she and Chi Yan had ‘reconciled,’ so the two girls should leave.

However, they suddenly stared at Shang Lu with dissatisfaction.

One of the girls asked, “You forgave him just like that? No wonder he dares to make you angry! Let me tell you, you can’t be so easygoing. You’ll definitely be taken advantage of in a relationship!”

Her companion was even more anxious, saying, “Yes, if you forgive him so easily this time, he won’t cherish you in the future! There will definitely be a next time!”

Chi Yan : “…”

Shang Lu : “…”

What did they want, then? Who could save them?

Luckily, Shang Lu had a clever idea and directly punched Chi Yan’s chest, softening her voice as she scolded him, “I told you I’m on a diet. If you get me half-sugar milk tea next time, you’re in big trouble!”

Chi Yan quickly agreed, “Alright, I’ll remember to get it without sugar next time.”

The two girls : “…”

What? The reason behind this beautiful couple’s argument is something as trivial as this? That’s forgivable indeed.

Watching the two girls walk away, Shang Lu couldn’t help but laugh and said softly, “They’re so cute.”

Though their enthusiasm was a bit over the top, it was genuine and amusing.

And at that moment, Xiao Mi returned with two cotton candies and Shang Lu’s phone hanging from her neck, calling out, “Sister, I’m back…”

The sound of Xiao Mi’s voice stopped, and her gaze fell with some confusion on Chi Yan and Shang Lu’s holding hands.

Chi Yan raised the corner of his lips and deliberately held Shang Lu’s hand a little tighter.

Shang Lu glared at him irritably, pulled her hand away, and reached for the cotton candy in Xiao Mi’s hand, changing the subject, “Ahead, there’s a carousel and bumper cars. Which one does Xiao Mi want to play first?”

Xiao Mi didn’t answer Shang Lu’s question. Instead, she suddenly said, “Brother and Sister are holding hands.”

Xiao Mi took a small bite of cotton candy and continued, “Mom and Dad took me to a town amusement park once. There wasn’t much there, but that day, I also had cotton candy. Mom and Dad were holding hands just like this.”

Shang Lu didn’t know how to respond for a moment. It was Chi Yan who bent down and also held Xiao Mi’s hand. He said, “There will be fireworks at 8 o’clock tonight, and the local custom here is to hold the hand of the person next to you when the fireworks burst, and you’ll never be apart for the rest of your life.”

Shang Lu joined in, “Yes, we are… practicing.”

“Is that so?” Xiao Mi’s face showed a look of understanding, then she said, “So that’s why Mom and Dad never separated, huh?”

She didn’t hold her Mom’s hand at that time, she was holding a bag of popcorn.

It was a somewhat heavy topic.

However, Xiao Mi didn’t wait for anyone’s comfort. She just smiled and said, “Sister, I want to ride the carousel first!”

Shang Lu patted her head and said, “Okay.”

Shang Lu and Xiao Mi sat on the carousel with cotton candy in their hands, laughing happily, while Chi Yan stood in front of the fence, taking photos of them.

Because there weren’t many people today, especially for less exciting rides like the carousel that weren’t popular among young people, only a small number of parents with children were riding. So Shang Lu also took off her mask and smiled at the camera, taking a few photos.

Xiao Mi was very happy as well.

In the small park she used to go to with her Mom and Dad, the first ride she played on was also the carousel.

It wasn’t a ticket-based system there; they had to pay for each ride.

Because she knew that her Mom and Dad didn’t have much money, Xiao Mi only chose the carousel, sitting with her Mom, while her Dad stood outside the railing taking photos of them.

Just like today, it’s very much alike.

Xiao Mi’s eyes also showed a smile, and she felt happy now and in the past because she felt love.
