Chi Yan’s voice came from the other end, asking, “Are you at home?”

It was unclear if it was Shang Lu’s imagination, but Chi Yan remained silent for a moment on the other end before responding, “…The friend I originally asked to take care of my dog has some urgent business and needs to leave the capital suddenly. So, he needs to return the dog now. Can you open the door for him?”

Although they lived in the same building, Chi Yan’s door was not password-protected but used fingerprint recognition.

Apart from Chi Yan himself, only Shang Lu’s fingerprint had been registered.

It was an easy task, so Shang Lu readily agreed.

In less than half an hour, there was a knock on the door.

Shang Lu opened the door, and standing there was a silver-haired young man. He had a handsome face, but his expression seemed to carry a deep resentment towards the world. His light-colored eyes, which seemed to want to close at any moment, stared at Shang Lu.

This person seemed so exhausted, but it didn’t look like he was in a hurry to leave the capital, did it?

The young man looked at Shang Lu, yawned first before trying to speak.

He decided not to say anything and simply handed the dog leash to Shanglu.

Da Guai and Xiao Guai, the two dogs, also squeezed through the crack in the door and cuddled up to Shang Lu.

Shang Lu took the leash and said, “Thank you.”

The young man waved his hand and walked towards the elevator.

It was then that Shang Lu noticed the young man was wearing a hoodie on the upper half of his body, which looked neat and tidy. However, his lower half was clad in black shorts and flip-flops.

It was quite a trendy combination.

Shang Lu was about to close the door when suddenly she heard the voice of a young man coming from his phone. He was holding his phone and seemed to be sending a voice message.

“It was you who asked me to help take care of the dog. And now, early in the morning, you inexplicably call me to wake me up to deliver the dog to someone. I was playing games until 4 am yesterday, I might drop dead, what do you want…”

The young man looked at his phone screen, but his voice suddenly stopped, as if he had just realized something.

He turned around and looked in the direction of Shang Lu.

Shang Lu hadn’t closed the door yet and was looking at him with a puzzled expression.

As he saw Shang Lu’s face, his eyes widened, as if he had suddenly awakened from a half-asleep state.

Then he said, “Hello, I’m a good friend of Chi Yan, my name is Wenren Yan, my family is in real estate, you may have heard of it.”

Shang Lu thought for a moment. There was a villa area in the west of the city that belonged to the Wenren family, and she had heard that their youngest son had grown up abroad.

So she nodded and said, “I’ve heard of it.”

“Chi Yan is right, I’m in a hurry to leave the capital right now, I can’t stay here for a second longer, I’m going abroad, please take care of the dog for me! Goodbye!” Wenren Yan said, and quickly turned and walked towards the elevator, almost tripping for some reason.

Shang Lu called his name, but for some reason, he frantically pressed the elevator button.

The elevator doors closed, and the numbers on the display went down.

Shang Lu fell silent.

She looked at the black slipper left at the elevator door and just wanted to say ‘You dropped your slipper.’

Suddenly, Shang Lu thought of the cryptic words Wenren Yan had said at the end. But before she could think it over carefully, Da Guai hugged her thigh and wagged his tail vigorously.

Xiao Guai, feeling neglected, whimpered beside them.

In an instant, Shang Lu’s heart melted by their cuteness, and she pushed aside her doubts, eagerly calling for Xiao Mi, “Xiao Mi, come quick! The dogs are here!”

Since Chi Yan wasn’t home, these two dogs would be lonely if they went back, so why not let them play here for a while!

Xiao Mi liked puppies even more, and she began playing with Xiao Guai.

Soon, Xu Ze also arrived.

Xu Ze first gave the textbooks he brought to Xiao Mi. He didn’t speak much, but he had made some progress since before. He told Xiao Mi to study hard and then went into the kitchen.

Xiao Guai lay on Xiao Mi’s lap, holding the brand-new textbooks in her hands and said softly, “Sister’s friends are all good people.”

It was Brother Song Zeqian who taught her to act in front of her grandparents. She also knew that it was a brother who called Sister Shang Lu ‘benefactor’ who helped her break ties with her family.

Brother Xu Ze helped her contact the school and sent her books. Sister Yanyan bought her several beautiful dresses. Shang Lu got up to open the door, but she froze at the moment the door opened.

It turned out to be Chi Yan who has returned.

Shang Lu looked down.

Shang Lu was a bit surprised and blurted out, “Aren’t you supposed to come back tomorrow?”

The air is filled with a pleasant aroma, and it’s evident that he’s cooking the spare rib soup that Shang Lu said she craved on Weibo.

Right now, the man is handling some shrimp, most likely to make Shang Lu’s favorite salt and pepper shrimp.

What’s even more amusing is Chi Yan’s dog, who is currently by the man’s feet, constantly tilting its head and wagging its tail, seemingly eager for a piece of meat, not even aware of its owner’s presence.
