Please Like Her 08 – The strange Shura field has increased.

For Shang Lu, she earned a significant amount from SY, and there was more good news.

She didn’t know when it started, but the rich second-generation in the capital were no longer saying, ‘If you love me, buy me a car and a house.’ Instead, they were saying, “If you love me, buy me a plot in the Rose Manor Cemetery.” Roses have always been a symbol of romance, and they translated the cemetery design into unwavering love.

When countless people came to her seeking to pre-purchase a spot, Shang Lu temporarily stopped selling, creating a ‘scarcity’ effect.

The easier something is to obtain, the less it’s worth cherishing. It had become a status and position symbol to be able to purchase a plot in the rose manor.

Shang Lu was in a great mood because everything was going smoothly.

Until Meng Zhichuan called her, expressing LK’s interest in partnering with her.

Shang Lu fell silent for a moment before asking, “Are they out of their minds?”

Meng Zhichuan’s voice also sounded complicated: “LK doesn’t want to sign a cooperation agreement with you openly. They want you to have more LK products at home and accidentally expose them while pretending to use them. Their main promotional direction is ‘This is what Shang Lu really uses in daily life.'”

Shang Lu: “…”

This move is really sneaky; LK wants to market itself by pulling down SY.

Even if Shang Lu endorses SY publicly, she still uses LK products in private, which proves that LK’s products are genuinely good.

Furthermore, in her last live stream, she mainly talked about LK’s price-performance ratio. She’s a star and not short of money. Despite her complaints on the surface, she is willing to spend money on LK.

In this way, all the logic makes sense, and LK can continue to market itself by riding on the negative publicity about SY.

Meng Zhichuan said, “This is something that should have been directly rejected, but they offered too much, so it’s up to you to decide.”

“No matter how much they offer, I can’t accept it,” Shang Lu decisively refused, “This is a matter of principle. If we cooperate with such underhanded tactics, who will dare to work with us in the future?”

“Alright, then I’ll help you reject it,” Meng Zhichuan agreed directly. He also informed Shang Lu that she had received a new job invitation in her email and should screen it herself.

After the call ended,

Just in case, even if she didn’t cooperate with LK, she could still make something happen on her own.

Shang Lu carefully checked her makeup table and found several LK products, all of which she threw in the trash.

Good, now she was safe.

Shang Lu clapped her hands in satisfaction and began to read the work-related emails that Meng Zhichuan had sent her.

Although a few of the scripts were good, Shang Lu didn’t have a strong desire to take on any of them.

After all, <Salvation Plan> had just finished filming, and Shang Lu wasn’t in a hurry to join a new crew. It was better to take her time and choose suitable scripts. This way, she could spend more time with Xiao Mi before Xiao Mi started school and take a break herself.

So, while Xiao Mi was doing her homework, Shang Lu armed herself like a warrior and entered the kitchen.

She chopped and washed vegetables, and finally…

Xiao Mi poked her head out of her room and asked curiously, “Did something burn?”

Then she saw a plate of charcoal-like ribs in the pot.

Both of them looked at each other.

Finally, Shang Lu took out her phone and ordered takeout.

Shang Lu’s foray into cooking had started suddenly, and her decision to give it up was equally abrupt.

Every day, it’s either takeout or Xiao Mi cooking, although the taste is still acceptable, but Shang Lu always feels uncomfortable.

It’s like something is missing, lacking, so she wants to do it herself.

But obviously, it’s better if she didn’t do it.

So that night, the two of them still had takeout.

Looking at Shang Lu, who had only taken a small bite of rice, Xiao Mi asked, “Why are you eating so little?”

“Not tasty.” Shang Lu put down her chopsticks in distress and simply drank water to fill her hunger.

When Xiao Mi cooks, Shang Lu tries to save face and eat more, but when it’s takeout, she can’t eat at all.

Xiao Mi looked at the sumptuous dinner in front of her with some confusion; she clearly thought everything was delicious.

Shang Lu began to miss many things.

Like the salt and pepper prawns, sweet and sour spare ribs, braised fish, and many other dishes made by Chi Yan.

And his dogs, Da Guai and Xiao Guai, she hasn’t seen them in a long time.

And…

What else? She didn’t know.

Shang Lu continued to stare discontentedly at the dishes in front of her. Today, she ordered from her favorite restaurant before, but why does it taste so ordinary now?

Did this restaurant change chefs? Or has her taste become more picky?

Shang Lu couldn’t help but wonder and decided to weigh herself.

She had lost three kilograms in nine days, better results than her deliberate weight loss attempts in the past.

Shang Lu then checked the calendar and calculated the time. Chi Yan should be back the day after tomorrow.

In the middle of the night, she couldn’t sleep due to hunger.

Shang Lu drank some hot water and posted a message on her social media.

[Dreamt of delicious corn spare rib soup, woke up with a growling stomach💔]

Lin Yanyan is a night owl and commented instantly.

[There’s a really delicious bone broth hot pot in the north of the city! Let’s go when I get back!]

Today was Lin Yanyan’s mother’s birthday, so she was forced to travel abroad early in the morning.

Shang Lu replied to her : [Sure, I’ll wait for you to come back, I’m hungry.]

Then, Xu Ze liked her post, and Chi Yan also liked it.

But Shang Lu fell asleep again and didn’t see it.

The next day, when she woke up, she saw a message from Xu Ze.

[Tomorrow, let Xiao Mi go to the school and take a few sample exams in person. If everything goes well, she can enroll.]

Xu Ze’s aunt works in education, so when he learned that Shang Lu wanted to choose a school for Xiao Mi, he proactively reached out to his aunt for help.

Shang Lu immediately got up.

[Great! Thank you!]

Xu Ze replied to Shang Lu with a photo of himself shopping at the supermarket, with food shelves in the foreground.

[I’m at the supermarket. If you want to have spare rib soup, I can buy the ingredients and make it for you. I also have textbooks to give to Xiaomi]

Shang Lu : “!”

Could things get any better than this?

So, Shang Lu quickly sent her home address to Xu Ze and then went to wake Xiao Mi up, only to find that Xiao Mi was already awake and reading.

Shang Lu handed Xiao Mi some bread and milk, saying, “Have a light breakfast for now. We’ll have a good meal at noon.”

Xiao Mi opened a bag of bread and, thinking about the person Shang Lu had mentioned during these past few days when she was sighing about not eating well, asked, “Is the Brother next door and his little dogs coming back?”

“No, he’s coming back tomorrow. It’s Xu Ze, the brother you met during the recording of the program. He’s helping with your enrollment too,” Shang Lu replied with a smile. She continued, “He brought the textbooks for you today, and tomorrow we’ll go to the school to take a test. If everything goes well, you’ll be able to enroll.”

“Great!” Xiao Mi nodded vigorously and took a small bite of the bread. Despite her joy, tears welled up in her eyes.

Shang Lu had talked to her about that school, and Shang Lu had even shown her pictures of it. The dorms there were very beautiful, and she would have a roommate to live with.

The classrooms were also exceptionally nice, bright, and spacious, with brand new desks and chairs.

The blackboards and the ones in her village were nothing like this. They were equipped with computers, whiteboards, and various devices she had never seen before.

This was everything Xiao Mi had never seen before, but just one glance was enough to tell her that it was a special and perfect place for learning.

What would it feel like to study and write in such a beautiful classroom?

In the photos, many students in clean and handsome school uniforms were listening to the teacher’s lecture. They had been studying in this kind of environment since they were young, and soon she would finally become one of them.

Xiao Mi bit her lip, clearly happy but unable to hold back her tears.

Everything she had dreamed of and longed for since she was a child was finally coming true.

Shang Lu put her arm around Xiao Mi’s shoulder, holding Xiao Mi in her arms and gently patting Xiao Mi’s back to comfort XIao Mi. “Don’t cry, it’s a good thing.”

  1. Chi Yan hurry and come back! Absence makes the heart grow fonder but Shang Lu can’t differentiate between that and actual hunger!

    I mean I actually wouldn’t mind her winding up with Xu Ze but I know she won’t so why bully him? ;-;
