Wen Le of Rebirth in the End Times (BL) – Chapter 47 Han Ya’s Peril

The rustling sound woke Wen Le up from his slumber.

The night before, they had raided several buildings in the vicinity, and Wen Le had exhausted much of his psychic energy. In the pitch-black darkness, they could only rely on the GPS locators with flashing green dots to determine each other’s positions. As for the zombies, they had to rely on their instincts.

Xiao Wen had trained them to perceive danger in dark environments. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and this kind of perceptual ability couldn’t be developed overnight. Compared to the others who recklessly charged forward based on their instincts, Wen Le had to concentrate and be aware of his surroundings at all times. At the very least, he couldn’t let his companions get caught off guard by zombies in the pitch-black night.

After raiding three buildings in succession, Chen Ye and the others were still holding up, but it was Wen Le, who had been walking at the back, who was the first to fall.

Since the beginning of the apocalypse, it was the first time that Wen Le had exhausted his psychic energy to such an extent.

Wen Le asked everyone to return to the base, although he still had almost half of his mental energy left, in the post-apocalyptic environment, he couldn’t and wouldn’t easily exhaust his abilities. Once depleted, it would take at least three to five days to recharge his mental energy. If anything happened during that time, they would be extremely vulnerable, and that was something that he couldn’t allow to happen.

“How’s it going?” Xiao Wen was adding firewood to the fire pit when he saw that Wen Le had woken up, so he sat down next to him.

There weren’t many things in the training center they were staying at, but there were plenty of wooden tables and chairs. During the time when Xiao Wen and Wen Le were out the day before, Mo Yan and Yin Chengyang chopped up a lot of wood for heating purposes.

Wen Le leaned against Xiao Wen and closed his eyes for a moment.

“It’s fine, I’ve recovered. How about the others?” Wen Le asked.

The light coming through the thick curtains indicated that it was already bright outside. Wen Le picked up his watch and saw that it was already past 10 o’clock. They had returned last night after midnight, and he hadn’t expected that ten hours had passed so quickly. It seemed that consuming mental energy was also a burden on the body.

“Yin Chengyang can’t sit still and went out to kill zombies. Chen Ye and the other two followed him. It seems they didn’t get enough excitement last night,” Xiao Wen said with a shrug.

Wen Le rolled his eyes. “What about Han Ya? Normally, he doesn’t move around much and spends most of his time sitting and thinking.”

“His marksmanship has been declining recently, so he took Mo Yan with him to practice with Yin Chengyang,” Xiao Wen explained.

Wen Le got dressed and took out some hot food from his space, eating with Xiao Wen. They planned to wait for Yin Chengyang and the others to return before going out to collect supplies.

They didn’t need any entertainment. The two of them just sat by the fire, feeling time pass second by second.

Suddenly, there was a loud banging sound.

Bang Bang Bang!

An urgent sound of footsteps upstairs broke the quiet and warm atmosphere.

“It’s Mo Yan,” Wen Le frowned and said to Xiao Wen. They stood up and walked towards the door.

Mo Yan was the quietest and most steady person among them. His composure was unmatched by Han Ya and Xiao Wen. Han Ya and Xiao Wen were calm, while Mo Yan was indifferent. Unless it was a matter of life and death, he would not have any emotional fluctuations.

So Mo Yan’s calmness now and his urgent running made Xiao Wen and Wen Le feel a bad feeling.

The moment Xiao Wen opened the door, he came face to face with Mo Yan.

“What happened…” Before Xiao Wen could finish his question, Mo Yan interrupted him.

“Han Ya has been kidnapped. Yin Chengyang and Chen Ye stayed there. I took advantage of the opportunity to bring Qi Rui and Zhao Xiaogang back to inform you.”

At this moment, there was another sound of footsteps coming up from downstairs. It should be Qi Rui and Zhao Xiaogang who had just caught up with them.

“Why didn’t you use the signal?” Wen Le asked, looking at his watch, following Xiao Wen and Mo Yan down the stairs.

At the corner on the third floor, they ran into Qi Rui and Zhao Xiaogang who were panting heavily.

“You guys go to Yi Family Mall now. Here’s the map, the location is marked on it. Find a person named Lin Yan and tell him that Xiao Wen and I sent you. Don’t say anything else, just wait there obediently. We’ll come to pick you up later.”

“We want to help rescue people too!” Zhao Xiaogang refused to take the map from Wen Le’s hand.

Wen Le didn’t waste time with him and stuffed the paper into Zhao Xiaogang’s arms.

“You can’t help now, we still have to worry about you guys. Listen to me!” Wen Le didn’t care about their reaction and quickly caught up to Xiao Wen and Mo Yan.

Zhao Xiaogang was reluctant to let it go and wanted to follow, but was stopped by Qi Rui.

“Do as Wen Le said.”

“But…”

Qi Rui shook his head. “Wen Le is right. If we go, we’ll just be a burden. Didn’t Brother Mo come with us all the way back just because he didn’t trust us?!”

Zhao Xiaogang fell silent. Although he was unwilling, he also knew that what Qi Rui said was true.

Seeing Zhao Xiaogang’s silence, Qi Rui had to perk up. “Alright, let’s go to that shopping mall. Xiao Laoda and the others are training us, right?! We’ll be able to help out in a little while!”

Zhao Xiaogang saw that Qirui was trying to make things seem relaxed, but he knew that Qirui was also not feeling good. They were all in the same team, and usually the others were always protecting them, but now that they were in danger, they couldn’t help but feel useless. This feeling was really terrible.

They needed time and effort, but one day they would no longer be a burden!

With gritted teeth, the two of them hurriedly followed the figures of Xiao Wen and Mo Yan down the stairs. Qirui opened the car door, turned the key in the ignition, and stepped on the gas pedal. The hard front of the car directly crashed through the iron railing at the entrance. Zhao Xiaogang looked at the map and pointed out the way for Qirui.

Meanwhile, Mo Yan led Xiao Wen and Wen Le towards the place where the incident happened.

“There’s an ice-element ability user among those people. They froze Han Ya and the others’ locators at the first opportunity. I dare not send a signal easily, because once I do, their locators will also show the signal, and I’m afraid we won’t be able to bring Qirui and Xiaogang back.” While running, Mo Yan explained.

“What exactly happened?” Xiao Wen grabbed Mo Yan’s arm. If they didn’t understand the situation, even if they rushed over like this, it would be useless.

“Don’t stop, keep walking and I’ll explain along the way.” Wen Le pushed the paused Xiao Wen.

“At the beginning, we were searching the area while killing zombies and looking for survivors. Later, Lao Yin suggested expanding our search area as the number of zombies here was decreasing and it was getting boring. Han Ya did not object and instead found a nearby underground shopping mall on the map, where we thought we could find some useful things. Everyone agreed to move our operation there. When we found the mall, we shouted inside a few times, but there was no response, so we went in directly. There were a lot of zombies inside, and Lao Yin and Chen Ye led the way, while I took Qi Rui and Zhao Xiaogang at the back. Han Ya was supposed to be in the middle of our formation, but we didn’t know when he disappeared. When we realized it, we heard Han Ya shout, ‘We only have three people.’ It didn’t sound right to me, so Lao Yin and Chen Ye went over to check, while I hid with Qi Rui and Zhao Xiaogang. After making sure they were hidden, I followed them secretly. There were about thirty people there, some holding guns, some holding knives, and Han Ya was surrounded in the middle, with his legs frozen. I noticed that Lao Yin and Chen Ye’s watches were also frozen, but they were pointing their guns at the group. If a conflict broke out, Qi Rui and Zhao Xiaogang would not be able to hide and would become hostages if discovered. So, I took them back to find you guys.”

While walking, Mo Yan told Xiao Wen what had happened earlier.

Wen Le frowned, wondering why none of the groups had followed the army to the rescue station?! As for Lin Yan’s situation, it was easier to explain. When Xiao Wen and Lin Yan were talking, he had used his psychic power to observe the surroundings. There were still many people on the floor downstairs, including women, elderly, and children. He had carefully observed that those people had enough food and drink and the children were still playing, indicating that Lin Yan was still a trustworthy person. That was why he asked Qi Rui and Zhao Xiaogang to go there to find Lin Yan.

Compared to the group of people that he had seen with Lin Yan yesterday, who were either holding wooden sticks or iron pipes and kitchen knives, they were obviously not a professional organization.

In Mo Yan’s words, among the people who held guns and knives before the outbreak of the apocalypse, they were either police or bandits, and Xiao Wen’s group was a typical example.

“What do you think these people are?” Xiao Wen asked after listening to Mo Yan.

Mo Yan hesitated for a moment before saying, “They seem like fellow travelers, but they have a strong killing aura. I suspect they have killed many people.”

“People?” Xiao Wen repeated.

With Mo Yan’s affirmative nod, both Xiao Wen and Wen Le’s hearts sank.

Killing zombies in the apocalypse was normal, no matter how many were killed, it was considered normal. But killing people?

Compared to Wen Le’s hesitation, Xiao Wen almost confirmed that the group of people mentioned by Mo Yan were definitely not good people.

Mo Yan had been with him for a long time and had experienced a lot. Even when faced with other arms dealers or drug lords, Mo Yan would only say they were fellow travelers. Only once did he hear Mo Yan say that a man had a heavy aura, and that man was a psychologically twisted killer who had killed hundreds of people.

This time, when Xiao Wen heard the words “heavy aura” again from Mo Yan’s mouth, he understood what kind of people were holding Han Ya.

His body, which had been running quickly, suddenly paused, and Xiao Wen turned his head to look at Wen Le.

Wen Le raised his eyebrows and looked at him puzzledly.

After hesitating for a moment, Xiao Wen shook his head and said nothing.

Mo Yan noticed the interaction between Xiao Wen and Wen Le, and seeing that their leader was not saying anything, he also fell silent. He guessed that Xiao Wen didn’t plan on letting those people go, and while this group of people couldn’t be considered good, they also wouldn’t just let those morally bankrupt scumbags run loose causing chaos. However, he didn’t think it would hurt to tell Wen Le directly either. After all, when it comes to the boss, one must be cautious. Wen Le was much more ruthless than he had imagined!

The three of them ran lightly on their feet, and when they were almost at a corner, Wen Le suddenly stopped the other two.

Xiao Wen and Mo Yan immediately stopped in their tracks and looked at Wen Le in silence.

Wen Le closed his eyes to sense something and then opened them again, letting Xiao Wen and Mo Yan wait beside him.

Without any objection, Xiao Wen and Mo Yan carefully moved to the wall under the corner, and looked back at Wen Le.

Wen Le stepped on the wall and began walking upwards, one step at a time, leaving Xiao Wen and Mo Yan in shock.

What about Earth’s gravity? What the hell, isn’t this breaking common sense?!

Xiao Wen and Mo Yan exchanged a glance, both looking shocked.

Back on the mountain, they already knew that Wen Le could walk on the snow without leaving any footprints, but at least he was still perpendicular to the horizon then! What the hell, how could he stay parallel to the ground without falling?!
