Tyrant Meets Paranoid [Quick Transmigration] – Chapter 299

Chapter 299- Cultured Villain vs. Humanoid Weapon (04)

As Lou Bin was spacing out, a large zombie lunged at him. Luckily, a tall figure standing behind him grabbed him forcefully and yanked him back, before kicking the zombie away.

Jian Minghui, with a slightly stern tone, said to Lou Bin, “Lou Bin, don’t lose focus!”

“Oh, oh! Got it, Brother Hui!” Lou Bin nodded quickly at the reminder, gripping his baseball bat tightly. He swung it at the approaching zombies while also trying his best to send out those seemingly ineffective wind blades.

The tall man standing in front of him was dressed in a black trench coat, wearing gold-rimmed glasses. His normally well-groomed short hair was slightly tousled at the moment.

He was tall and well-built, but not lanky. His movements were methodical as he dealt with the zombies, exuding an air of reliability that reassured those around him.

It was a pity, though, that Brother Hui didn’t have any powers!

Thinking of this, Lou Bin sighed inwardly and couldn’t help but ask, “Brother Hui, when is Jian Mingyuan getting here? If he doesn’t show up soon, we’re all going to be in serious trouble.”

Upon hearing Lou Bin’s words, Jian Minghui’s eyes darkened slightly. He replied, “Just wait a bit longer. He might have been held up by something on the way. Don’t worry, my brother wouldn’t just leave us here on purpose.”

Lou Bin nodded but still looked visibly uneasy. After all, in the apocalypse, anything could happen.

Just because they were blood brothers didn’t mean they wouldn’t abandon each other. Besides, on normal days, Jian Mingyuan always seemed distant and indifferent toward Brother Hui, not exactly warm.

Brother Hui is just too naive, still thinking about his older brother all the time. Reflecting on how Jian Minghui had just saved him, Lou Bin couldn’t help but feel even more indignant.

If Brother Hui had powers, he should be the leader of this team. After all, back in school, Brother Hui was the president of the student council, always in the spotlight without question.

Even though Jian Minghui was one or two years younger than them, Lou Bin truly regarded him as an elder brother.

Wei Xuezhen and Shi Haoyu, standing nearby, didn’t say anything, but their movements sped up. Even though they were exhausted, they knew they couldn’t afford to stop fighting. A moment of slack could cost them their lives.

Just then, arcs of lightning crackled and exploded in front of the group, instantly clearing out a large number of zombies.

Seeing this, Wei Xuezhen’s eyes lit up and she looked in the direction the lightning had come from. She shouted joyfully, “Senior Brother, you’re finally here!”

Jian Mingyuan nodded at Wei Xuezhen, then leaped into the group, helping them break through the zombies from within.

Even Shi Haoyu, who had been tense all this time, breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Jian Mingyuan. Though his body was still tired, he felt much more reassured. After all, among the group, Jian Mingyuan’s lightning-based powers were the most formidable.

While everyone’s powers were still at level one, Jian Mingyuan had already broken through to level two. Ordinary zombies were no match for him.

Jian Mingyuan’s arrival initially made things much easier for the group, but powers always had their limits. Meanwhile, the endless waves of zombies kept coming, causing the brief relief they felt after his arrival to fade away once again.

If this continued, everyone’s powers and stamina would eventually be exhausted, and by then, they would surely die here. Even Jian Minghui, who normally kept a calm demeanor, couldn’t help but show a grim expression.

At that moment, a dark figure shot out like an arrow, swiftly weaving through the zombie horde. It moved in a completely unnatural way, slipping through the crowd of zombies so fast that Jian Mingyuan’s group couldn’t even make out its movements or form.

As the figure darted through, zombies began to fall one by one, all decapitated cleanly and collapsing to the ground. Some bodies, still driven by inertia, continued crawling and writhing for a few moments before finally going still.

Seeing this terrifying scene, many people stood in shock, their mouths agape. After the surrounding zombies had been cleared from a large area, Jian Minghui snapped back to his senses and quickly shouted to those around him, “Hurry up, finish off the remaining zombies!”

Although they couldn’t clearly see who the mysterious figure was, at that moment, it was clear that anyone who had just killed so many zombies must be on their side. The others, recovering from their shock, wasted no time seizing this golden opportunity, throwing themselves into the fight with renewed vigor and slashing at the zombies in front of them.

Seeing this, Mu Jin felt satisfied. After all, even his stamina had its limits. If others were willing to lend a hand, it would save him some energy.

After taking down the last zombie, Mu Jin finally stopped, catching his breath. He turned to face Jian Mingyuan’s group.

It was only then that the group got a clear look at the person standing amid the pile of fallen zombie corpses.

To their surprise, the person wasn’t some three-headed, six-armed monster, nor a fierce and brutal warrior. Instead, the one who had just displayed such devastating power was a petite, fair-skinned, and youthful-looking young man.

The young man was dressed in black, wearing the combat uniform reserved for special forces in the military, something both Jian Mingyuan and Jian Minghui recognized.

They had once been taken to the military base during a holiday by Jian Zhengqing, where they trained alongside the soldiers. Because of this, their physical abilities and combat skills were much stronger than most. However, those who could wear the special forces combat uniform were the elite of the military, far beyond the level of part-time trainees like them.

Looking at the youth’s small, delicate face and his wide cat-like eyes calmly observing them, there was an odd sense of innocence about him. If it weren’t for the dirt on his clothes and the pile of zombies at his feet, it would have been impossible to associate such a refined young man with this harsh environment.

When everyone noticed the weapon in Mu Jin’s hand, they were even more shocked. It wasn’t some high-tech weapon—just a simple sickle used for cutting grass.

The blade looked incredibly sharp, and Mu Jin held the sickle tightly in his hand. Although this sight seemed somewhat out of place, the thought that this young man had swiftly decapitated countless zombies with such a simple tool left them too awed to question him further.

Everyone was stunned by Mu Jin’s actions and the stark contrast he presented, especially Jian Minghui. Despite the unpleasant environment and the foul smell in the air, he couldn’t tear his eyes away from the figure in front of him.

There was an innate, undeniable charm about this youth. His immense strength, paired with an indifferent yet innocent gaze, made Jian Minghui’s heart tremble the moment their eyes met.

However, he quickly composed himself, offering his signature gentle smile. He raised a hand to adjust the gold-rimmed glasses on his nose and warmly said to Mu Jin, “Brother, thank you for saving us!”

Hearing Jian Minghui’s words, the others finally snapped out of their daze and hurriedly expressed their gratitude to Mu Jin. Mu Jin accepted their thanks without the slightest hesitation or modesty.

Mu Jin simply nodded, then found a relatively clean-looking zombie among the fallen bodies on the ground. He reached down, tore off a piece of the zombie’s T-shirt, and used it to wipe his sickle clean. After that, he hung the weapon back on his backpack.

While Jian Minghui had been observing Mu Jin, Mu Jin had also been sneaking glances at Jian Minghui. In this life, his lover was just as handsome as before, with his signature tall figure and light amber eyes.

However, his lover’s muscle definition seemed even smoother now, though not overly bulky. The trench coat paired with the gold-rimmed glasses softened the sharpness of his features, giving him a gentle and refined air.

Combined with the character in the original plot, this should be the legendary gentleman!

Jian Minghui was someone who cared quite a bit about his appearance, but in the apocalypse, it was clear that staying clean wasn’t an easy task. His clothes had traces of dirt on them, and his hair was slightly disheveled. During his intense fight with the zombies earlier, some blood had splattered onto his face, making him look a bit worse for wear.

Yet even so, in Mu Jin’s eyes, his man was still perfect in every possible way. It was as if he were glowing—a figure who stood out as the most striking presence in any crowd.

In this world, zombies don’t have the so-called crystal cores in their brains. Zombies were just zombies, nothing more.

To increase one’s ability level, they had to continuously fight and kill, honing their powers. However, having read through all the plotlines, Mu Jin knew that some special mutated plants would eventually appear in this world.

These special mutated plants happen to be able to further stimulate human potential. After consuming them, they can quickly help humans increase the corresponding ability levels.

Unfortunately, Jian Minghui’s ability is a mental one, and for him, training his mental strength is the best way to improve. Those mutated plants wouldn’t have any effect on him.

Luckily, Mu Jin’s mental strength is incredibly strong. As long as he helps, once Jian Minghui awakens his abilities, his level will rise much faster than the others.

Of course, all of Mu Jin’s thoughts only took a split second. He stepped over the numerous bodies and walked to the front of the group. Facing Jian Minghui, who had just greeted him, he said in an official tone, “Commander Jian sent me to pick you up.”

“My father sent you?” Jian Mingyuan finally spoke upon hearing Mu Jin’s words, and his gaze softened.

Mu Jin turned to look at the male lead, who had handsome features but was usually silent, and nodded. Jian Mingyuan was never good with words, and the original protagonist wasn’t someone who liked talking much either.

After Jian Mingyuan said that one line, it seemed he left all the information gathering to Jian Minghui. Mu Jin, of course, had no objections, and was more than happy to exchange a few more words with his lover.

Most of the people in this group were students from B University, split into two teams when they went out to search for supplies. Unexpectedly, Jian Minghui’s group had just reached the entrance of a mall when they encountered a large horde of zombies.

In the original plot, Jian Mingyuan also arrived just in time, but there were too many zombies in this area. Although they eventually broke through the siege, many were killed or injured. Moreover, due to the zombie horde’s attack, they fled in a panic and didn’t have time to enter the mall to search for supplies.

But now, with Mu Jin’s appearance, the casualties were avoided, and they could collect a good amount of supplies, alleviating the dire situation the team was currently facing.
