Chapter 221- Cold Indifferent Loyal Dog VS. Playful Ghost King (16)
When Yin Tianyi heard Qi Hao’s words, he raised an eyebrow, becoming even more convinced that the person who had taken over the entire Qi family in his previous life and used the family’s resources to fight against the Yuan family was indeed Qi Hao.
Thinking this, Yin Tianyi’s expression remained neutral, but his gaze towards Qi Hao softened. When Qi Hao insisted that he handle everything and leave it to him, Yin Tianyi shook his head and refused, saying, “This is ultimately my father’s matter, so I must resolve it personally.”
“As for what you mentioned, do you really think you have the power to confront the entire Yuan family? Or do you plan to recklessly confront Yuan Hongshen, hoping to perish together with him?”
Qi Hao, who had been relatively calm, instantly became agitated upon hearing Yin Tianyi’s words. He stood up abruptly and shouted, “Of course I can! I will definitely avenge my big brother. I’ll perish with that Yuan scum if necessary, and I won’t let my big brother die in vain.”
Mu Jin snorted at Qi Hao’s words, drawing an angry glare from the man. Yin Tianyi, however, didn’t mock Qi Hao and calmly said, “Simply dying is too easy for him. He killed my father and took our family’s heirloom for the benefit of the Yuan family and himself. Now, with the Yuan family flourishing, he’s quite pleased with himself. The real pain is in making him lose everything he schemed so hard to gain, bit by bit, isn’t it?”
Qi Hao pursed his lips at Yin Tianyi’s words. Though he knew Yin Tianyi was right, putting it into practice wasn’t easy. Despite having the Qi family behind him, he was still an insignificant figure. And Yin Tianyi had no backing at all.
Even though Qi Hao saw that Yin Tianyi’s companion looked formidable, he didn’t believe that relying solely on Mu Jin would accomplish much. Going against the entire Yuan family with their limited power seemed as futile as an ant trying to topple a tree, less plausible even than perishing with Yuan Hongshen.
Yin Tianyi didn’t mind Qi Hao’s skepticism. He was long past the age of needing to prove himself. Instead of continuing the discussion to stress Qi Hao, he succinctly expressed that he would not back down.
Yin Tianyi then asked Qi Hao for more detailed information about the Yin family. Although they had talked a lot the previous day, it was mostly about Qi Hao’s memories with Yin Zhanpeng and his wife. Now, they needed to discuss useful information about the Yin family.
Seeing Yin Tianyi so focused, Mu Jin realized he already had a plan. After flipping through the books yesterday, Yin Tianyi had confirmed their value. This piqued his interest in finding out if the Yin family had left behind other valuable items.
Qi Hao had mentioned that these books were just basic ones left by the Yin family, which Yin Zhanpeng had shared with his little brother. The more profound secrets of the Yin family needed further investigation.
Understanding Yin Tianyi’s intentions, Qi Hao thought carefully and then led Yin Tianyi and Mu Jin to the old Yin family residence.
The house was located in the suburbs of the city and had long been abandoned. Although Yin Zhanpeng and his wife later lived in the city, this old house, left behind in earlier years, still existed. Because it was so remote, no one wanted to buy it.
Furthermore, after the deaths of Yin Zhanpeng and his wife, the Yin family fell into decline, and its members scattered. With the city’s development, this remote house became even more desolate. No one had expected it to become so dilapidated after all these years.
Although they arrived during broad daylight, the old house in the suburbs looked eerie. As soon as they entered through the gate, a cold air flowed out, chilling them to the bone.
Mu Jin followed closely behind Yin Tianyi, standing in the eerie mansion. He sensed the surrounding atmosphere and contentedly narrowed his eyes.
Yin Tianyi noticed Mu Jin’s expression and subtly moved closer to him. Mu Jin turned and gave him a small smile, whispering, “The Yin energy in this house is very strong. I find it quite comfortable.”
Yin Tianyi frowned at his words, becoming more cautious. Normally, Mu Jin wouldn’t react to ordinary Yin energy. His current expression of delight suggested that the concentration of Yin energy in this house was extraordinary. What could have happened here?
Qi Hao seemed equally surprised by the haunted appearance of the place. However, not wanting to show fear in front of his juniors, he mustered his courage and pressed on.
Neither Qi Hao nor Yin Tianyi made a move initially. Instead, Mu Jin walked past them, heading towards the courtyard at the back.
Yin Tianyi didn’t know what Mu Jin intended to do, but he trusted that he had his reasons and quietly followed him.
Qi Hao, thinking that Yin Tianyi and Mu Jin, being from the Yin family, knew the secrets of the house, hurried to follow them. He tightly gripped some talismans he had copied from the books, feeling a bit more secure with them.
They stopped in front of a pitch-black door at the far end of the backyard. Several damaged talismans hung on the door, indicating that something unpleasant might be sealed inside.
Mu Jin, recalling his own experience of being sealed in a mirror, wondered if the Yin family had left behind a powerful spirit similar to himself. However, instead of being sealed elsewhere, it was left within the main house.
Mu Jin stepped forward to push the door, but as soon as he tried to touch it, the door reacted just like the books had the previous day. However, the energy repelling him from the door was much stronger than that from the books.
Realizing that the talismans were merely a distraction and that the door itself was the key, Mu Jin signaled to Yin Tianyi to open it.
Without hesitation, Yin Tianyi walked up and forcefully pushed open the black door.
Mu Jin felt quite pleased seeing how obedient his lover was. However, as soon as the door opened, Qi Hao’s expression changed dramatically.
With a tight throat, he pointed to the scene beyond the door and said to Mu Jin and Yin Tianyi, “This… this is a spirit hall! We should leave quickly; it’s too ominous!”
But despite his words, neither Mu Jin nor Yin Tianyi moved. The spirit hall was dedicated to the ancestors of the Yin family. If it had been an ordinary sealed-off area with terrifying spirits, Yin Tianyi might have turned around and left. However, seeing that it was dedicated to his ancestors, he had no intention of leaving.
What puzzled him was why the Yin family had left without taking the ancestral tablets. Was there really no one left in the Yin family?
Yin Tianyi had only skimmed through the feng shui books the night before, not enough to become a master overnight, so he couldn’t understand the intricacies of the situation.
Mu Jin, on the other hand, immediately sensed the exceptionally strong Yin energy as soon as the door opened. It was several times stronger than the Yin energy in the courtyard, which put him on high alert.
He noticed that black smoke was rising from the ancestral tablets. Only he, as a ghost cultivator, could see this; the other two could only feel the chill in the air but couldn’t see the dark energy.
As he walked forward, Mu Jin saw several grooves on the altar table, clearly the spots where the stolen bronze cauldron once sat.
So, there had been a bronze cauldron here originally? It seemed that Yin Zhanpeng had performed rituals here to bring good fortune to the Yin family, but the cauldron was now gone.
Mu Jin suspected that the ancestral bronze cauldron, passed down through the Yin family, was not just stolen by Yuan Hongshen. He must have used it to absorb all the fortune contained in Yin Zhanpeng’s pure yang constitution, and possibly also the fortune that should have belonged to the Yin family, leading to the family’s downfall.
The ancestors of the Yin family, who had stayed behind to protect their descendants, were harmed while trying to counter the effects of the stolen artifact. Their own fortune was drained excessively, causing them to harbor great resentment and lose their peace even in the afterlife. This might have led to some tragedies.
If this was true, it would explain why the old Yin family residence had fallen into such disrepair. The rest of the family had likely fled, and it made sense why they left the ancestral tablets behind and sealed the spirit hall.
As Mu Jin pondered this, the black mist around the tablets began to coalesce, gradually forming a massive shadow. This shadow condensed into a visible eerie figure, stretching menacingly towards Yin Tianyi.
Qi Hao, terrified, fell to the ground, clearly unnerved by the appearance of this shadow. Though he believed in the existence of some inexplicable phenomena, this sight was beyond his tolerance, leaving him paralyzed with fear.
Before the shadow could reach Yin Tianyi, Mu Jin immediately stepped in front of him. Taking a deep breath, he began to absorb the black mist into his body.
The dark shadow struggled within Mu Jin, whose body quickly became surrounded by a red aura. His clothes transformed into ancient red robes, and he floated in mid-air.
His hair flowed freely, and though there was no wind, his garments and hair swirled chaotically. At that moment, Mu Jin’s appearance became far more enchanting than in his human form.
Having absorbed a large amount of dark energy, his nails grew sharp and long, his lips turned a deeper red, and even his eyes were covered with a blood-red hue, making him look both seductive and dangerous.
Qi Hao stood frozen, stunned by the scene before him. If he hadn’t realized by now that Mu Jin was not human, he would have had serious vision problems. He watched in shock as Mu Jin completely absorbed the black shadow.
