Chapter 131 – Violent Useless vs. Delicate Cat (11)
The young man, reacting uncontrollably to the touch on his fingertips, was now leaning against the bathroom door, internally crumbling, unable to face Mu Jin. He lowered his head and glanced at himself, his face instantly twisting with embarrassment.
He felt like such a scoundrel; how could he have such impure thoughts about an innocent and adorable cat? It was totally inappropriate.
Yan Yang thought that his little cat was still young and needed guidance, so he absolutely couldn’t lose control just because Mu Jin was too tempting. But he neglected to consider that, even if Mu Jin was barely of age among the demon kin, Yan Yang himself had just turned eighteen.
It took him some time to calm down, and when he finally stepped out of the bathroom, he found Mu Jin happily eating from the bag of dried fish.
The young man watched as Mu Jin stuffed the last piece of fish into his mouth, then stared at him with those big cat-like eyes, clearly wanting more. Yan Yang couldn’t help but smile.
However, he had only found one bag in the kitchen by chance, and he hadn’t seen any more. But seeing how much Mu Jin enjoyed them, he thought about checking the kitchen again to see if there were any left.
The two had started the day late, and after spending quite some time eating and dawdling, it was already afternoon. The sun was shining brightly, and the Yan family’s house had a sizeable garden. With Yan Zhengqing not around, Yan Yang considered taking Mu Jin to the garden to enjoy the sun.
After all, cats love sunlight, and his little cat was always confined to his room, which was a bit sad. So the young man shared his idea with Mu Jin.
Mu Jin quickly agreed with a nod, looking very happy. Yan Yang felt he had made the right choice, seeing his cat’s joy.
However, his cat wasn’t dressed for going out, so it was a bit inconvenient. Mu Jin immediately stood in front of Yan Yang and, in the blink of an eye, transformed into his full animal form—a cat.
The sudden transformation right in front of him was quite the shock for Yan Yang, even though he knew what the little guy was. Witnessing the human-to-cat transition left him momentarily stunned.
Seeing Yan Yang staring blankly at him, Mu Jin walked over and hooked his claw into his pants leg, snapping the young man out of his daze.
Looking at his cat acting so cute, Yan Yang quickly picked up the furry ball and left the room.
The first stop was the kitchen. Both human and cat searched in sync, hoping to find more dried fish. After rummaging for a while, Yan Yang did find another bag.
Mu Jin got excited when he saw the dried fish and let out an enthusiastic “meow.” Yan Yang was delighted too and took the fish and Mu Jin to the garden, where they enjoyed the sun and shared the fish.
While the two enjoyed their time, Yan Lexin was causing quite a stir in the kitchen. This type of dried fish was her favorite snack, salty, crispy, and full of flavor. She usually had the butler buy it for her, but today when she wanted some, she was told there was none in the kitchen storage. After searching herself and finding none, she was furious.
Yan Lexin was in a terrible mood, even though the butler had sent someone to buy more. To calm down, she wandered around the Yan family’s property, eventually finding herself in the garden, where she saw Yan Yang sitting on a bench, holding her dried fish. Instantly furious, she wanted to confront him, but as soon as she took a step forward, someone grabbed her arm.
Yan Lexin turned to see it was Yan Xiao who had stopped her. The man stood beside her, raising a finger to his lips, signaling for silence, and pointed toward Yan Yang, indicating for her to look.
Though confused, Yan Lexin looked in Yan Yang’s direction again and noticed there was a small cat beside him, the same one she had seen before.
Yan Yang had told her this cat was his, and she hadn’t believed him. But now she saw him smiling, his face full of tenderness as he fed the fish to the cat, the scene warm and harmonious.
It was the first time Yan Lexin had seen Yan Yang like this. To her, her so-called second brother was always rebellious and troublesome. He never treated her with kindness, always giving her a cold shoulder. She had never seen him with such a gentle smile.
His touch on the cat was soft and affectionate, clearly doting on the little furball. So Yan Yang was telling the truth—the cat really was his.
But where did this cat come from? Yan Lexin didn’t know, but seeing that her fish had been given to the cat, her anger subsided significantly.
The girl pressed her lips together and, in the end, retracted her foot that had stepped forward. She gave the packet of delicious dried fish another longing glance, then rolled her eyes at Yan Yang, who was feeding the cat. Pouting with displeasure, she huffed and swung her hand before turning away.
Yan Xiao was surprised to see Yan Lexin just walk away like that, even forgetting her usual clinginess towards him, her beloved elder brother. He couldn’t help but chuckle. He knew that, deep down, both Yan Yang and Yan Lexin were good kids.
It was just that Yan Yang was too intense and stubborn, and Yan Lexin was a bit spoiled and willful, which kept them at odds. But it was mostly just bickering and squabbling; there was never any real animosity between them.
After all, they had grown up together. If he could help smooth out their differences, Yan Xiao was glad to do so.
Standing at a distance, he watched Yan Yang with the little cat for a while, feeling an unexpected tinge of envy. Despite his seemingly glamorous status in the Yan family, he knew in his heart how little genuine affection Yan Zhengqing had for him.
He was just another pawn to be used, but weren’t they all? He knew Yan Zhengqing’s ulterior motives. However, he wasn’t strong enough yet and needed more time. With this thought, Yan Xiao’s expression darkened a bit as he turned and left.
Yan Zhengqing was absent for the weekend, so Mu Jin and Yan Yang had a relaxed time. Yan Yang’s bed was large enough that even if Mu Jin shifted back to his human form, the two could sleep comfortably together.
At night, Mu Jin would deliberately snuggle up to Yan Yang. The young man, though a bit shy, found that whenever he tried to move away, his little cat would look at him with teary eyes, so he couldn’t refuse. He thought to himself that Mu Jin was quite a handful at night.
When he was in his cat form, he would usually sleep on Yan Yang’s pillow, which was no big deal. But ever since he could shift forms, Mu Jin wouldn’t revert to his cat shape when they were in the room. At night, he stayed in human form and kept inching into Yan Yang’s arms, his hands, feet, and tail moving about, causing Yan Yang some embarrassing reactions. Even though he acted reluctant, he couldn’t deny the sweetness and happiness in his heart.
The next day, Yan Yang went to the kitchen to get food, planning to talk to the butler about buying more dried fish. However, when he entered the kitchen, he found two packets of dried fish on the counter, which surprised him.
He quickly took them back to his room, thinking that Mu Jin would be happy, which made him happy too. At first, he thought it was just a coincidence, but the situation with the dried fish persisted. Every day, there would be two packets on the kitchen counter, which puzzled Yan Yang.
However, it was better to have dried fish than not, especially since asking the chef for it would require explanations. Though he had food and shelter in the Yan family, he wasn’t particularly loved, so making requests was always troublesome.
Having this convenience saved him a lot of effort. He thought he could just talk to the chef later if the dried fish ran out. But that was for another time.
The pleasant weekend soon came to an end, and Yan Yang had to return to school. However, he couldn’t take Mu Jin with him this time. Based on previous experiences, bringing Mu Jin to school would be complicated and risky, with the chance of being discovered.
If only the teachers found out, it wouldn’t be a big deal. He was more worried about troublemakers who might cause harm to Mu Jin or Yan Zhengqing finding out and giving him a hard time.
As he was about to leave, Yan Yang felt an increasing sense of reluctance to part with Mu Jin. He kept staring at the cat-eared boy in front of him, hoping that he would cling to him, crying and begging to go along.
But this time, Mu Jin was surprisingly calm. He just smiled, walked Yan Yang to the door, and told him to be safe on the way to school and come back early. Yan Yang felt a mix of strange emotions. He was a bit disappointed by Mu Jin’s lack of attachment but also relieved.
So he gave Mu Jin a tight hug and then left the Yan family.
As Yan Yang looked back at the boy closing the door behind him, a hint of a smile appeared on Mu Jin’s lips. He didn’t really want to part with his lover, but he had been away from the Mu family for quite some time. He wasn’t just a simple cat demon; he was the Mu family’s patriarch, and there were many things that needed his attention.
