Chapter 75 – Discussion

Lu Lu scratched his head, feeling he didn’t quite understand these rich people.

And… it seemed his Brother Bai had more than one card, but Bai Jinyan didn’t specify which card he handed over. Based on Lu Lu’s experience as Bai Jinyan’s assistant, Brother Bai seemed to be in a good mood when talking about this.

So, Lu Lu squinted his eyes and concluded that Bai Jinyan probably handed over all his cards without keeping any for himself.

Though mobile payments are convenient, they are typically for amounts under a hundred thousand. If one wants to buy haute couture or a company, using mobile payments isn’t realistic or feasible.

Thus, without the joy of spending… why was his Brother Bai so happy?

Bai Jinyan held the necklace box, lined with black velvet, and took a casual photo. Unsatisfied with the result, he took a few more photos from different angles.

Lu Lu received a message on his phone and looked up, saying, “Brother Bai, there are fewer people on the red carpet now. Should we go?”

Bai Jinyan closed the necklace box and stood up, “Let’s go.”

Lu Lu nodded and reached out to take the necklace box, but Bai Jinyan had no intention of leaving the necklace in the dressing room. After a brief pause, Lu Lu went ahead to open the door, not dwelling on the necklace.

Lu Lu said, “Brother Bai, the studio’s photographer is inside, wearing a badge. When you leave…”

At this point, Lu Lu hesitated. He was well aware of what Bai Jinyan’s red carpet appearances were like. The only time there were red carpet photos was when Qiao Huaiyao was present; other times, it depended on the studio’s luck.

Lu Lu’s hesitant words were drowned out by the noisy sounds outside as he opened the door. He couldn’t even hear himself. He simply walked ahead, shouting, “Brother Bai, go to the right, I’ll clear the way!”

From stepping onto the red carpet to sitting indoors, it would take five to ten minutes if done quickly.

Bai Jinyan sent a message, reporting the few minutes he couldn’t check his phone.

Receiving Qiao Huaiyao’s reply, Bai Jinyan put his phone away and walked onto the red carpet—

On the fifth floor of the international laboratory.

Miao Wenxuan held the instructions, translating and explaining as he went, occasionally turning the diagrams for them to see.

Because there was so much to explain, it took two hours to go through everything. From the moment they arrived, they spent the entire afternoon there.

Miao Wenxuan’s voice was almost hoarse by the end, so he continued to speak while sipping water, “Alright, that’s about it. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me. For now, though…”

He checked the time and said, “Let’s head to the fourth floor.”

Qiao Huaiyao signed the confirmation form and didn’t push forward with the crowd. Instead, he walked quietly behind with his hands in his pockets.

Qiu Shufeng and a few others stayed close to Qiao Huaiyao, keeping a good distance from the other students.

“I asked some seniors who visited before, and each floor takes about ten to twenty minutes to tour, depending on whether we encounter difficult experimenters. We’ve already spent so much time just on the fifth floor.”

Thinking about it made him a bit excited.

The time they spent on this floor alone had already exceeded expectations.

And it was a senior who gave them detailed explanations of rare experimental equipment—definitely worth it.

They didn’t run into any temperamental experimenters. Although the number of people on the fifth floor increased over time, no one lost their temper or did anything disruptive.

Everyone quietly stood by, watching the long receipt, likely curious about the total cost of all the purchases.

No one knows the prices of experimental equipment better than those who work in a lab.

If it weren’t for the priority access, post-employment discounts, and eligibility for equipment applications, their labs would struggle to afford it.

Even winning awards and receiving bonuses yearly wouldn’t cover such expenses.

Too curious to care about anything else.

They stayed past mealtime without encountering any angry experimenters rushing them out.

Luck was on their side.

Wang Zhan grinned and threw an arm around Qiu Shufeng’s shoulder, “The next part is all about the equipment demonstrations. Pay close attention. If we perform well, we might get a chance to try it ourselves. You won’t get this opportunity again.”

“No way. There will definitely be more chances,” Qiu Shufeng said, nudging Wang Zhan with his elbow, his tone confident, “I’m close with the study god. When we get back, I can help him out and still get to see it all!”

He proudly raised his chin, “Right, study god?”

Qiao Huaiyao replied indifferently, “Yes.”

“Study god, I want to help too!” Wang Zhan immediately released Qiu Shufeng and tried to get closer to Qiao Huaiyao. “I’m efficient, don’t need a salary, don’t need to be credited, and my record for staying up is three days straight. I can keep an eye on the experiment progress for you!”

Qiu Shufeng grabbed Wang Zhan by the neck and pulled him back like a chick, “No way, you keep quiet and don’t try to take my spot.”

Staying up for three days? Are you trying to outdo me? Are you planning to exhaust yourself?

The lab is only so big, and there are only so many opportunities to help out.

Trying to take my spot? No way.

Teacher Peng glanced back at the commotion, “Keep it down. These are all experimental devices. If you break something, you’ll have to pay for it.”

These expensive machines could stop working with just a small bump.

If a fight caused any damage, it would be a serious issue.

“Yes, teacher!” Qiu Shufeng immediately scratched his head, perfectly demonstrating his brotherly bond with Wang Zhan.

Fight? Not at all. Their relationship was very good.

Wang Zhan was a bit slower in reaching out and missed the chance to ruffle Qiu Shufeng’s hair.

But he still managed a faint smile under Teacher Peng’s watchful eye, muttering under his breath, “You really are a dog…”

Qiao Huaiyao wrote a few lines on the receipt from the cashier and said casually, “This experiment will help with your studies. Come and take a look.”

“Sure thing! On my way!” Wang Zhan raised his hand, speaking ahead of Qiu Shufeng.

If he hadn’t been tussling with Qiu Shufeng, he would have gone over already.

Qiu Shufeng sighed and stopped wasting time, pushing Wang Zhan aside in annoyance, “I’m coming, study god.”

When he got to the front, Qiu Shufeng was confused. Miao Wenxuan was still selecting materials for the experiment, and he asked blankly, “What experiment is this?”

Did Senior Miao mention it earlier? Qiu Shufeng tried to recall, but he couldn’t remember hearing it.

If it had been mentioned, he should have heard it.

Qiao Huaiyao could deduce the experiment from the materials, but with only a machine in front of him and no other clues, it was impossible to guess.

He pointed to the small English text on the side, indicating the machine’s full name, “This machine is of a high grade, mainly used in level A and above experiments. Regardless of the specific experiment, this will be helpful to you.”

Qiu Shufeng glanced at it, struggling to understand even with his advanced English skills.

But if the study god said it was useful, it must be very beneficial.

Qiu Shufeng trusted Qiao Huaiyao completely, “Got it, study god. I’ll watch carefully and try to memorize it.”

Last time the study god said something was useful, it was when he was looking at a notebook. He studied it thoroughly and passed the exam easily. So, listening to the study god was always right.

Yu Luofan, knowing that Qiao Huaiyao didn’t like crowds, found a spot not too far but not too close, “Study god, come here.”

Qiu Shufeng also called out, “Come on, let’s stick together.”

Qiao Huaiyao thought for a moment but didn’t take the front spot Yu Luofan had left for him.

He had used this machine many times, so he didn’t need to see the details. It was better to leave a clear view of the experiment for them.

Qiu Shufeng was about to insist when Qiao Huaiyao gently pushed them into better viewing positions.

Miao Wenxuan prepared the materials but didn’t start the experiment right away. He turned and asked, “Qiao Huaiyao, do you want to try it?”

If it were someone else, Miao Wenxuan might not have offered.

Few students were allowed to handle the equipment before graduation, as most machines were too expensive to risk damage.

If they broke something, it would be hard to compensate, and their lab wouldn’t easily resolve it.

So, these public facilities could only be used with the permission of the experimenters.

But Qiao Huaiyao was different. If he broke something, it could be repaired easily. The cost of repairing the equipment was negligible compared to what Qiao Huaiyao had just spent.

Money wasn’t a concern.
