In the laboratory, you have to get permission from the teacher to take anything out of the classroom, even just a blank piece of paper. Of course, getting permission to take something out depends on whether it is highly dangerous, toxic, or could become toxic with minimal processing. Harmless reports can be taken, but anything else is strictly prohibited. If you do have permission, the teacher may scrutinize what you intend to do with these items.
Qiao Huaiyao used common, readily available items, which could be purchased online. Seeing that everything was available in the laboratory, he had a spontaneous idea and decided to try it. Once he had completed his experiment, the results were ready by the time class ended. Crystals were clearly visible in the solution.
Qiu Shufeng looked at the crystals and asked the others, “What are you all planning to do after class?”
Wang Zhan gave a tired smile. “Back to the dormitory. It’s still early, so we can catch a quick nap and then go out for lunch.”
Yu Luofan added, “I have a student council meeting to attend.”
Qiu Shufeng nodded, understanding their plans. As for Study God, there was no need to ask; his intentions were obvious. If his boyfriend came to pick him up, he would leave with him; if not, he would go to see him.
Thinking of this, Qiu Shufeng couldn’t help but sigh. He wondered when he would experience love for himself.
After completing the experiment, Qiao Huaiyao cleaned up the used items and returned them to their original positions. There was no need for extensive tidying up, and he could simply carry the beakers back to the lectern.
Qiao Huaiyao said, “I’m going to turn in the results.”
Qiu Shufeng packed his things and replied, “Alright.”
When Qiao Huaiyao submitted the results, he included the sheet of paper filled with the materials he had used. The teacher first checked the paper and found nothing that shouldn’t be taken out. She then turned her attention to the crystals.
With a single glance, her eyes widened. “Did you adjust the values? Add more of that substance? This solution doesn’t even look like it…”
The teacher had provided data for generating crystals, but it was in limited quantity. While the crystals could be used for the next experiment, increasing the yield would require more materials, which would result in significant resource consumption. Hence, such adjustments were uncommon.
Qiao Huaiyao explained, “I didn’t add more; I just adjusted the ratio.”
Using less experimental solution to yield more crystals.
The teacher raised an eyebrow. “You… you did this? You’re a first-year student?”
The teacher knew that even sophomore, junior, or senior students would hesitate to make such adjustments. And to have those adjustments be successful and reproducible was even more exceptional.
The teacher remained bewildered, and this class felt surreal. After a moment of silence, she suddenly asked, “You must be Qiao Huaiyao, right?”
Qiao Huaiyao was surprised by the variety of expressions on the teacher’s face. He blinked and replied, “Yes.”
The teacher sighed softly, contemplating the matter. Apparently, she had expected this.
She asked, “Do you still remember the data for this experiment?”
Qiao Huaiyao nodded, “I remember.”
“Good.” The teacher took out her phone and started making a call. Before she connected, she told Qiao Huaiyao, “Please write up the complete data and submit it to Professor Fang, or you can give it directly to me, and I’ll submit it on your behalf.”
The following steps would be determined after discussions with the school. Whether they would buy or exchange the data would depend on Qiao Huaiyao’s preference.
“Alright,” Qiao Huaiyao replied, not fully understanding the significance of the data for this particular class. However, the teacher’s apparent excitement indicated that it was of great importance.
The teacher’s gaze toward Qiao Huaiyao had changed, and she sighed softly. Perhaps, this was the difference between a genius and an ordinary person.
“Okay,” the teacher said, setting aside the beaker. “The experiment is done. You can leave and rest after class.”
After standing for so long during the experiment, everyone was undoubtedly tired.
The teacher didn’t say much to Qiao Huaiyao. Qiao Huaiyao said, “Thank you, teacher.” The teacher waved her hand, “Go on.”
In the past few days, the filming on set revolved around scenes with Bai Jinyan, both solo shots and scenes with Bai Jinyan and other cast members.
When Qiao Huaiyao arrived, Bai Jinyan was still shooting. Normally, the lab class lasted for four hours without any breaks in between. Finishing early meant leaving early. Qiao Huaiyao worked relatively quickly, only slowing down a bit while waiting for the results. They finished an hour and a half early.
Bai Jinyan’s scenes on set were currently at a critical moment. Qiao Huaiyao brought his packed lunch to the rest area. He heard the director’s voice calling for a break from outside.
Shortly after, Bai Jinyan entered the rest area. When they were shooting the earlier part of the scenes, Bai Jinyan’s makeup and hair were not as disheveled as they would appear in the final cut. Bai Jinyan entered the rest area and casually locked the door, then approached Qiao Huaiyao, who was unpacking the food. He drew close and kissed him a few times.
Taking the lunchbox from Qiao Huaiyao’s hand, Bai Jinyan asked, “Why are you here so early today?”
“Lab class finished early,” Qiao Huaiyao replied, taking out a bottle of lemon water. “Brother, I signed up for the 1000-meter race.”
“Okay,” Bai Jinyan opened the lunchbox, inserted the straw, and handed it back to him. “Do you know when the 1000-meter race is scheduled in the program?”
“Not yet,” Qiao Huaiyao took a sip of lemon water. “The order hasn’t been released, I’ve only signed up.”
Bai Jinyan nodded slightly. “Once the order is out, let me know, and I’ll be there to cheer you on.”
Due to his work commitments, he couldn’t be there for the whole event, but he would be there when Qiao Huaiyao was running.
Qiao Huaiyao smiled and said, “Sure.”
Calculating the time, the paper he had drawn in the lab should have taken its shape by now. Qiao Huaiyao put down the lemon water and got up to close the curtains. The room darkened suddenly.
Bai Jinyan asked, “What’s going on?”
Qiao Huaiyao smiled mysteriously but didn’t explain. He said, “I’ll show you something interesting.”
While speaking, Qiao Huaiyao turned off the lights in the room.
Lu Lu was outside and noticed that the rest area was far away. He furrowed his brows as if he were analyzing something.
Finally, his eyes widened as he suddenly realized something. Lu Lu cleared his throat and shouted, “Director! My big brother has something to attend to. If there’s anything, tell me directly, but please don’t disturb him for now.”
The director responded in kind, “Understood!”
Qiao Huaiyao could faintly hear what was happening outside but didn’t pay much attention to it. He took out the piece of paper and handed it to Bai Jinyan. “Brother, take a look.”
Looking at the unsealed paper, Bai Jinyan raised an eyebrow and smiled, “A love letter?”
Qiao Huaiyao hesitated, opened his mouth to explain that it wasn’t, but before he could speak, he saw the playful glint in Bai Jinyan’s eyes.
He immediately blushed and said, “Brother!”
Bai Jinyan smiled and ruffled his hair. “What is it?”
Qiao Huaiyao adjusted the angle of the paper, ready to be opened. He then started recording on his phone without answering and said, “You’ll find out when you open it.”
Bai Jinyan replied with an “okay,” and unfolded the folded paper.
Since the room wasn’t well-lit, and the window was covered by curtains, a faint light shone as the paper separated. Bai Jinyan was momentarily stunned, and he slowly unfolded the paper. As the paper expanded, a radiant red, just like a blooming rose, came into view. A vivid, three-dimensional rose appeared on the paper as if it were growing from it.
Qiao Huaiyao’s lips curled slightly as the red rose on the paper matched his expectations almost perfectly. He stopped the recording on his phone, went over to Bai Jinyan, and gave him a kiss on the cheek. “The paper in the lab was small, just enough to draw one.”
Qiao Huaiyao chuckled, “I’ll give you a bouquet next time.”
