Chapter 52 – Mood

In theory, just after posting a Weibo for such a short time, there shouldn’t be any hot comments in the comment section.

But upon closer inspection, this comment had been liked by Bai Jinyan.

Qiao Huaiyao raised an eyebrow and opened more replies to this comment.

[Hahaha, [Blogger liked].]

[Bai Jinyan: My little friend, go ahead and envy.]

[Someone who’s pampered can really be a kid forever.]

[The key point shouldn’t be the ‘S,’ right? Qiao Qiao is a chemistry student at Qing University. The latest exam should have been this morning, right?]

[A Qing University student speaking here, that’s right. The professor even said S is because the score ceiling is S, not Qiao Qiao’s ceiling.]

[—Dmn! Not only am I obsessed with Qiao Qiao’s beauty now!]

[Little friend, you’re looking good, my dear.]

[Sis, your comment deserves a [Blogger scolded].]

Qiao Huaiyao thought for a moment, then switched back to the chat box with Bai Jinyan.

The minimized video box inevitably remained on the screen, unable to be removed.

He simply took screenshots together, and at the spot, added a cat head expression pack.

After finishing, he also posted a Weibo.

Qiao Huaiyao V: Hmm! @Bai Jinyan.

The picture was Bai Jinyan sending him pocket money as a reward.

Two similar Weibo posts, not much difference in time looking at the timestamps.

One before the other, Qiao Huaiyao’s Weibo content seemed more like a response to Bai Jinyan’s words.

Originally, there were quite a few people who followed Qiao Huaiyao from Bai Jinyan’s Weibo, following the mention to find Qiao Huaiyao.

Coincidentally, they stumbled upon this Weibo, and within seconds, the comments section started to flood.

[Ah ah ah—! During working hours, what are you doing! Do you want to kill me today?]

[Sisters, I’ve been lurking in various CP fandoms in the entertainment industry for so long. Other CPs are all relying on fan works, but unexpectedly, I got ‘sugared’ one day. Waaah, I’m so happy.]

[I just envied Bai Jinyan for having a little friend, and now I envy Bai Jinyan for giving pocket money. Those few zeros are higher than my salary.]

[If you study as well as Qiao Qiao, I’ll send you too.]

[Forget it, it’s good to have a stable job.]

[What’s under the expression pack? Why does it look like a frame? Is Qiao Qiao video chatting with someone?]

[Oh my gosh, Bai Jinyan’s picture doesn’t look like a directly taken photo. Could it be… could it?]

[Why bother getting addicted to the surface sweetness! When these two are video chatting, they play with pet head expression packs, send red envelopes, isn’t this nice to watch!?]

[Waaah, coming out from Bai Jinyan and Qiao Huaiyao’s Weibo, I immediately ordered eight hundred units of insulin.]

Qiao Huaiyao glanced through the comments, and his fingers hovered over the screen. He went back to look at the pictures.

The expression pack on the image was well-covered over the conversation box. How did they see it?

While wondering, he placed two fingers on the screen and zoomed in, and when it was at the maximum, he could vaguely see a small corner at the very edge.

Qiao Huaiyao was stunned, evidently not expecting that such a detailed detail could be noticed.

But since it had already been discovered.

Qiao Huaiyao didn’t bother to edit these pictures again.

After exiting the photos, the Weibo automatically refreshed.

Bai Jinyan’s presence appeared in his comment section.

Likes, comments, and shares.

When Bai Jinyan’s Weibo appeared, the front-row comments all turned into: [Run—! Wives, run first! Sisters, hold the rear!]

A lively and vivid scene, perfectly portrayed with just a few words in the comments section.

Qiao Huaiyao couldn’t help but chuckle; these comments were really interesting.

Seeing this, Qiao Huaiyao didn’t continue scrolling down.

As he glanced up, he saw Bai Jinyan on the small screen, on the other side of the video call.

He didn’t know how long his brother had been looking at him like this; those smiling eyes seemed to have been on him since he opened Weibo.

Qiao Huaiyao was momentarily stunned, his eyes widening slightly, meeting Bai Jinyan’s gaze. He couldn’t help but curl his lips.

Bai Jinyan rubbed his pen against his fingertip.

Seeing Qiao Huaiyao’s slightly dazed expression, he wanted to reach out and ruffle his hair.

Unfortunately, Qiao Huaiyao wasn’t by his side, so he could only express his thoughts through the expression pack.

Qiao Huaiyao looked at these expression packs and couldn’t help but smile.

While they were on the video call, Bai Jinyan’s phone rang, but he couldn’t share it because they were on a video call.

Thinking his brother had something to attend to, Qiao Huaiyao was about to tell him to go ahead, but he saw Bai Jinyan hang up the call and start typing a response.

Qiao Huaiyao couldn’t help but ask, “Brother, is it the company calling you?”

“No,” he replied. Bai Jinyan’s focus these days was on school, and the company wouldn’t contact him unless it was something significant. The same went for Lu Lu.

Bai Jinyan said on the other side of the phone, “I ordered takeout for you.”

“Ah?” Qiao Huaiyao was momentarily surprised. “But I already ate.”

Bai Jinyan didn’t immediately say to cancel the order. Instead, he asked, “What did you eat?”

“Sweet pastry…” Qiao Huaiyao paused and glanced at the time on the screen. He had eaten sweet pastry in the morning, and now it was already afternoon.

He pursed his lips and didn’t continue. Instead, he asked, “What did you order, Brother?”

“One hot dish, one soup, and a small portion of cold salad,” Bai Jinyan replied. He wasn’t next to Qiao Huaiyao, so he couldn’t order as many dishes as before.

He could only choose a few dishes that matched Qiao Huaiyao’s taste.

It was called takeout, but in reality, it was ordering from a restaurant and having it delivered by a waiter.

Just now, the call I made to Bai Jinyan was probably a reminder for the meal delivery.

Not long after, Qiao Huaiyao’s doorbell rang.

The food was packed in a wooden box.

Overall, it had a somewhat antique feel.

The box that contained the food looked like wood from the outside.

But the edges of the bowls inside looked like porcelain, with wooden carving patterns used for decoration visible only on the outside layer.

Qiao Huaiyao placed his phone on the stand and tasted the soup.

The soup had meat, lotus root slices, and bamboo shoots.

Perhaps due to a different variety, the lotus root slices in the soup were crispy, not starchy.

Bai Jinyan sat at the table, holding a pen and occasionally circling lines in the script. “This soup is the restaurant’s signature. Does the taste suit you?”

Qiao Huaiyao nodded. “It’s delicious.”

The soup had a pure taste, something that couldn’t be achieved with artificial flavorings.

The rich bone-based soup combined with the meat and vegetables created a great texture.

In the other box was stir-fried pork, with slices of meat and bell peppers. The bottom of the box wasn’t oily.

Qiao Huaiyao had eaten about half a bowl of rice, and Bai Jinyan kept him company until he finished.

Seeing Qiao Huaiyao put down his chopsticks, Bai Jinyan said, “Finish the soup.”

When you’re full and can’t eat more, you can still drink some soup.

There wasn’t much soup left, so Qiao Huaiyao ladled the last bit into a small bowl and drank it slowly.

He asked, “Brother, don’t you have classes in the afternoon?”

“I don’t,” Bai Jinyan replied. After the start of school following the military leave, the first day’s classes didn’t follow the schedule on the timetable.

“The main agenda for today is exams, distributing papers, and discussing the papers.”

The professors for major subjects were highly respected in their department, and this exam was indeed very difficult.

There was a rumor on the school forum that some students’ mental states had collapsed because of this exam, leading to poor performance in their classes and exams all in one day.

Later, they changed it to the current format, focusing on exams and discussing the papers.

Qiao Huaiyao didn’t stay to discuss the papers and left early. The remaining time was up to him to plan, and the school wouldn’t interfere.

Bai Jinyan said, “Hmm.”

Qiao Huaiyao noticed that Bai Jinyan was occasionally glancing at the time. He asked curiously, “Is there something going on?”

Bai Jinyan closed the script and checked the delivery progress on his phone. He said, “It’s nothing, just…”

Ding dong~

His words were interrupted by the doorbell.

Qiao Huaiyao didn’t rush to get up; instead, he picked up his phone and walked towards the door, asking, “Brother, what were you going to say just now?”

“It’s nothing,” Bai Jinyan smirked, “Just open the door.”

Qiao Huaiyao tilted his head, feeling something was strange but still responded, “Alright.”

When Qiu Shufeng and the others come, they usually send him a message in advance.

Qiao Huaiyao didn’t know the others here, so when he opened the door, he was greeted by a bouquet of roses wrapped in ribbons and frosted paper.

The delivery person greeted with a smile, “Hello, is this Mr. Qiao? This is a bouquet of roses ordered by Mr. Bai for you. Please sign for it.”

Qiao Huaiyao accepted the bouquet of roses. “Thank you.”

It was a large bouquet, with over twenty roses at a glance.

Holding the roses and closing the dormitory door, the fragrance of roses filled the air.

On his phone, Bai Jinyan, on the other side of the video call, explained, “The flowers were ordered in the morning, but they weren’t delivered on time.”

This bouquet of roses was from the same place as the last one Qiao Huaiyao received.

Bright and beautiful, just a bit late in delivery.

It was only delivered in the afternoon.

Fortunately, it wasn’t too late. At least, it was still within the same day, delivering this bouquet of roses into the hands of its owner.

Qiao Huaiyao placed the roses on the table and smiled, asking him, “Is today a special day?”

“Not really,” Bai Jinyan chuckled, propping his chin with one hand.

He looked at Qiao Huaiyao on the video call with a loving gaze. “The presence of these flowers is just to make sure you have a happy day today.”

No need to attach too much meaning to it.

Simple and straightforward, just that.
