After going through multiple levels of selection, the scripts are undoubtedly all excellent. As long as the budget is sufficient, the movies should not turn out to be too bad. Bai Jinyan saw Qiao Huaiyao praising seriously and a slight smile appeared on his face. He raised his hand and ruffled Qiao Huaiyao’s head. Then, when he put his hand down, he casually rested it on Qiao Huaiyao’s shoulder.
Qiao Huaiyao drank lemon tea and watched the movie attentively. This movie had finished filming before the New Year, and after post-production modifications and scheduling, it finally made it to the big screen.
Qiao Huaiyao was so engrossed in the movie that he absentmindedly placed the lemon tea on the armrest. Just as he reached for the popcorn, the scene in the movie changed, and Bai Jinyan’s slender fingers came into view, resting on his shoulder.
Qiao Huaiyao’s breath hitched slightly, and he pressed his lips together, trying to remain composed. He adjusted his posture slightly, tilting his gaze subtly towards the side.
Bai Jinyan, however, kept his eyes fixed on the screen as if he was engrossed in the movie.
The movie was not too long, slightly over an hour and less than two hours. After watching it, Qiao Huaiyao couldn’t remember the details of the later part of the plot.
Bai Jinyan stood up with the remaining popcorn, turned, and saw Qiao Huaiyao’s red face. He asked, “Why is your face so red?”
“Huh?” Qiao Huaiyao was taken aback and subconsciously touched his face with the back of his hand.
The warmth from his slightly cool fingertips was evident. He hadn’t noticed it earlier since the theater lights were off.
Qiao Huaiyao cleared his throat, “It’s probably too stuffy in the theater. Let’s go outside.”
Bai Jinyan didn’t inquire further when he saw that Qiao Huaiyao’s ears had turned red. He made a subtle movement with his fingertips that were hanging by his side and said softly, “Sure.”
After stepping outside, the cold evening breeze made Qiao Huaiyao feel much better. When he had come out in the afternoon, the weather was fine, so he hadn’t put on a thick coat. As he was thinking about it, he felt something on his shoulder. “Brother?”
Bai Jinyan adjusted the jacket in front of him and said, “Let’s go back to the hotel.”
“But… I can wear my own jacket. I’m not cold,” Qiao Huaiyao quickly tried to take off the jacket. Bai Jinyan was only wearing a shirt, which seemed much thinner than Qiao Huaiyao’s.
“No need, mine is thick,” Bai Jinyan said lightly.
“Just a shirt?” Qiao Huaiyao asked in surprise.
“Cashmere,” Bai Jinyan extended his hand, “Don’t believe me? Touch it.”
Qiao Huaiyao couldn’t tell the material just by looking at it, but it did feel thin. He skeptically reached out, but before his fingertips touched Bai Jinyan’s sleeve, Bai Jinyan held his hand firmly.
“?!?” Qiao Huaiyao was caught off guard, but Bai Jinyan didn’t seem to notice his discomfort. A gentle smile appeared on his face as he said softly, “Let’s go back to the hotel.”
Qiao Huaiyao stiffened his neck and nodded slowly.
When Bai Jinyan was booking the hotel, he had included Qiao Huaiyao. The room was not large enough for both of them, so he had booked a presidential suite. It was Qiao Huaiyao’s first time there.
Bai Jinyan poured him a glass of warm water, “The inner room is all set up. Let’s see if there’s anything else we need.”
Qiao Huaiyao hugged a pillow and shook his head, “No need for anything.”
It was a bit troublesome. Besides, it was a hotel, and there might not be military training in the evening. If they didn’t come here often, there was no need to worry about anything.
Qiao Huaiyao leaned back, opened the food delivery app, and asked, “Brother, I’ll order some takeout. What do you feel like eating?”
He wasn’t particularly hungry, but it was only 11 PM, and he wasn’t sleepy yet. Passing time by eating something at night wasn’t a bad idea. Also, they hadn’t eaten dinner before going to the movies, and Qiao Huaiyao had only had some popcorn, while Bai Jinyan hadn’t eaten much at all.
“Anything is fine, you choose,” Bai Jinyan replied.
“Okay,” Qiao Huaiyao nodded, “I’ll decide.”
The restaurants in this area were all unfamiliar to them, and they could only distinguish them by ratings and reviews. Some restaurants offered cashback for positive reviews, and some reviews were not entirely reliable.
After searching for a while, Qiao Huaiyao couldn’t find any worth ordering from. Bai Jinyan put down his phone and sat next to Qiao Huaiyao, his finger swiping across the screen. “This one is good, and there’s also a lobster restaurant nearby, we can give it a try.”
“Sure,” Qiao Huaiyao agreed.
My brother’s recommendation must be reliable. Qiao Huaiyao placed the order directly.
There was a small fridge in the presidential suite, with one compartment filled with complimentary drinks and another empty. Ordering too much food wouldn’t be an issue since they had enough space to store it. While waiting for the delivery, Qiao Huaiyao opened Weibo to see if his segment on the variety show had been cut.
Director Zhao Jiamo slept early, and he had messaged the director in the morning during military training, but hadn’t received a reply. Editing takes time, and he wasn’t sure if it had been replaced with something else. But when he opened Weibo, he was bombarded with notifications. Private messages, comments, and likes all appeared simultaneously, making his phone buzz non-stop.
What’s this? The app must be lagging.
Qiao Huaiyao thought his phone was acting up, but when he checked, he realized it wasn’t a glitch. It was just that his Weibo was exploding.
[Did Bai Jinyan’s account get hacked? Who did such a thing?]
[Is he endorsing this software? This app is quite good, about 90% of the food recommendations are accurate.]
[Is he planning to save these recommendations and take my wife out to eat?]
[F***, it’s not a software recommendation, they’re just showing affection!]
……
Qiao Huaiyao clicked on a few messages, and they all seemed to be related to some strange situation. He decided to check Bai Jinyan’s official variety show account. The time of the videos was inconsistent, which made it easy to figure out. He didn’t even bother to watch the video and focus on the comments.
Bai Jinyan posted a Weibo message: [The best food guide around! Click here to expand the article.]
Qiao Huaiyao: “????”
This statement didn’t sound like something Bai Jinyan would say.
Expanding the article, Qiao Huaiyao saw that it was a food recommendation app. He figured that this was an automatic post from that app.
The comments below were all full of question marks.
[Somebody hacked Bai Jinyan’s account? Who did this?]
[Is he going to endorse this software? This app is pretty good, about 90% of the food recommendations are accurate.]
[Is he planning to save these recommendations and take my wife out to eat?]
[Damn, turns out it’s not software recommendation, it’s just showing affection!]
……
Qiao Huaiyao quickly scrolled back up to show Bai Jinyan. “Brother, look, everyone is saying your account got hacked.”
Bai Jinyan raised an eyebrow, looking at the screen. “I didn’t even notice when this was automatically posted. But the comments… ‘showing affection’? Are they referring to us?”
“Uh… I don’t know. Let me see,” Qiao Huaiyao hurriedly scrolled up again, but before he could do that, Bai Jinyan had already glanced at the comments.
Bai Jinyan’s tone sounded a bit impatient, “Are they saying we’re showing affection?”
“Huh?” Qiao Huaiyao was taken aback and quickly looked at his phone again. He hadn’t noticed that the comments had scrolled down and revealed some comments he hadn’t seen before.
Some comments were indeed mentioning “showing affection.”
“No, no, I was mistaken. I was talking about this one,” Qiao Huaiyao pointed to a different comment.
