Chapter 24 – Luggage

Subconsciously, Qiao Huaiyao turned his phone over in front of himself and said, “Just occasionally sign in, the experience level increases quickly.”

Bai Jinyan saw it and casually said, “What’s the point? I know you have Weibo.”

Thinking carefully, Qiao Huaiyao registered on Weibo around the same time as him. However, he has never used it, and the name on his Weibo account has always been random, and he never changed it. He hid it among his followers.

Bai Jinyan teasingly remarked when he saw Qiao Huaiyao looking guilty, “Are you using a secret account to hide from me?”

Qiao Huaiyao hesitated for a moment and immediately retorted, “N-no, of course not.”

The sudden increase in volume reached Bai Jinyan’s ears, and he raised an eyebrow, looking meaningfully at Qiao Huaiyao.

The expression in his eyes seemed to say, “There really is a secret account that I don’t know about.”

Qiao Huaiyao: “…” and fell silent.

Bai Jinyan chuckled lightly, not prying further. He reached out and ruffled Qiao Huaiyao’s hair, asking, “You no longer use the old account?”

Qiao Huaiyao shook his head, “There was too much content posted on that old account.”

He had treated the old account as a study note, posting mainly academic-related content for people in his field, and many people interested in those topics followed that account. After the college entrance exam, he hadn’t logged in much. It wouldn’t be appropriate to use it to follow Bai Jinyan’s entertainment-related posts.

For the new account, besides daily tasks to level up, he had also spent some money to boost its activity. Fortunately, Bai Jinyan didn’t inquire further, or else all that money would have gone to waste.

After taking a sip of water, Qiao Huaiyao switched to his previous main account on Weibo. Since he hadn’t been active for a while, he had over 99 notifications for comments and likes. Without checking each one, he cleared the backend messages and closed the app.

Putting down the blanket, he got up to fetch his textbooks for the major courses. When he came back, he saw Bai Jinyan making a phone call.

“No need,” Bai Jinyan casually tapped the keyboard with one hand and refused, “He’s busy, doesn’t use Weibo, not interested.”

The person on the other end seemed to say something quickly, but Bai Jinyan calmly replied, “Class, studying. Hang up.”

Sitting beside him, Qiao Huaiyao asked, “Who was that?”

“Zhao Jiamo,” Bai Jinyan paused, realizing that Qiao Huaiyao might not know who he was, so he added, “The director of that family-oriented variety show we were on before.”

Qiao Huaiyao wrapped himself in the blanket, “Did he contact you about the recording?”

The live broadcast had ended three days ago, and they should have started organizing the participating guest families for the recording of the collective variety show.

Bai Jinyan said, “No. The recording is delayed. He wants me to ask if you have any thoughts on participating in the recording. Also, they released a teaser Weibo for the show and want you to repost it to help promote.”

Qiao Huaiyao raised an eyebrow, “Recording?”

Based on what Bai Jinyan had said earlier, he probably already declined the recording offer. As for the Weibo, his main account had nothing to do with the entertainment industry, and he couldn’t expose his secret account, which had numerous screenshots of the show.

It was reasonable for the director to ask if he had any intentions to participate in the recording, considering that the live broadcast only featured one or two people from each guest family. If the recording only featured one person and not the other members, it might create misunderstandings among some viewers. Also, with the presence of some online trolls and marketers, a small push in the wrong direction could lead to unwanted rumors.

Before, he didn’t sign a contract because the recording time conflicted with his studies. Now, if they changed the time…

He asked, “When is the recording delayed to?”

Bai Jinyan didn’t have the exact date. He only had the recording plan given by the director and said, “The recording will be done on different days. They will record two days a week, and if the footage from the first day turns out well and they don’t need to record again, it might only take one day.”

Considering this, the only downside was that he might waste some time traveling back and forth. The recording location was far, and the time spent flying might exceed the actual recording time.

Qiao Huaiyao listened thoughtfully and nodded, “Brother, can you give me the director’s contact information?”

Instead of directly sending the contact, Bai Jinyan asked, “Do you want to participate?”

“If it doesn’t clash with my schedule,” Qiao Huaiyao said. He wanted to inquire more about the details before deciding whether to participate or not.

Bai Jinyan swiped his phone screen and replied, “Let Zhao Jiamo ask you himself.”

“Alright.” Qiao Huaiyao accepted the director’s friend request, but before he could type, Zhao Jiamo sent a message.

Zhao Jiamo: [Hello, I’m Zhao Jiamo. Brother Bai said you might have some questions about the recording of our show, right? This is the tentative recording schedule, and honestly, it’s quite relaxed, very relaxed indeed.]
