The Landlady and The Amnesiac – Chapter 35

Jiang Sihan agreed without much thought.

He was still young, not even 24 years old, and didn’t have a strong desire for love. In addition, he was now filming, which often took two or three months at a time. He didn’t have time for love. More importantly, he was very self-aware. With his current poor conditions, dating would only hold back the girl he’s with. He knew that he needed to have a certain level of economic strength before even considering dating, let alone marriage.

In fact, after agreeing to Brother Liu, he walked out of the company and looked up at the gloomy sky. His relaxed mood was inexplicably replaced by a trace of melancholy. He couldn’t understand his own feelings. Obviously, he just got the opportunity to audition. Why did he feel like he had lost something when everything was actually going well for him?

When Grandma Luo and Zhao Pianpian found out what kind of store Luo Bei had opened, they both fell into silence.

Opening a store was a good thing, even if it was a small store, it was still a business. However, for a young girl to partner with an adult man to open an adult product store, it just felt awkward.

If Grandma Luo was a very stubborn parent, she would definitely object. She could barely even look at the adult products on the coffee table.

It was Zhao Pianpian who spoke more tactfully, “Are there no better business opportunities to choose from? It just feels like this business is too niche.”

Luo Bei knew what they were thinking, so she sat down on the sofa and patiently explained, “I know what you are worried about. Please, it’s already this day and age, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with doing this business. Really, Xiao Zhou and I have done a detailed investigation. I can’t give up now.”

Zhao Pianpian nodded, “We know you’ve put a lot of effort into this. It’s just that there are too many people in this village, and if they know that this shop is yours, it will ultimately affect your reputation.”

In fact, the fact that Zhao Pianpian was able to raise a child as a single mother on her own was enough to prove that she didn’t care about the opinions of others. It’s just that she had spent a long time with Luo Bei and had developed strong feelings for her, almost treating her like a sister. She herself might not care about what others thought, but she was worried that Luo Bei would be hurt by rumors and gossip, and thus had more to say.

“If you want to do other businesses, I can invest in you too. It doesn’t have to be this one.”

Luo Bei understood Zhao Pianpian’s goodwill, but still shook her head, “I didn’t steal or rob, and I haven’t done anything immoral. Even if others really talk about me, I’m not afraid. And those who truly know me will know what’s true and what’s false. As for those who don’t know me, why should I care about what they think?”

In the end, it was Grandma Luo who sighed and said, “If you want to do it, just do it. Most of the people in this urban village are your uncles and aunts. Younger people like Zhan Qi who grew up with you won’t say anything. As long as you think it’s worth doing, go ahead. If you don’t have enough money, I have a little here.”

From childhood to adulthood, no matter what Luo Bei did, Grandma Luo was usually the first person to support her.

Grandma Luo always said that the most difficult thing in life is to figure out what you want and what you want to do.

Zhao Pianpian saw that Grandma Luo had agreed, and she had no reason to argue further. She could only say, “Well, I heard that you are planning to open more stores after making a profit. If you need money then, you can come to me. I still have some spare cash.”

Luo Bei smiled wryly, “I still have some money on hand, don’t worry. If it’s not enough, I’ll ask you guys.”

Of course, Luo Bei mentioned this important matter to Fang Jingzhou during their usual phone call at night.

Fang Jingzhou was still young and didn’t understand what an adult products store was, so Luo Bei didn’t explain it to him. After all, he was too young…

“Beibei, are you going to start your own company and become a boss?” Fang Jingzhou’s tone was very excited. “I have a classmate in kindergarten whose parents own a company. They come to pick her up in a car every day. Will you come pick me up in a car when you become a boss too?”

“Well, it’s not exactly starting a company, but I can be considered a small business owner. Okay, I’ll come pick you up in a car when I earn enough money. Is that okay?” Saying this, Luo Bei felt motivated to work hard and buy a regular car as a short-term goal.

Fortunately, she had already obtained her driver’s license during her university years.

“Okay!” Fang Jingzhou nodded vigorously, regardless of whether Luo Bei could see him or not. “Starting a company requires a lot of money, right? Beibei, my grandpa bought me a piggy bank with a lot of money in it. Do you want it?”

He didn’t have a clear concept of money yet.

He only knew that there’s a lot of money in his piggy bank.

Luo Bei was charmed by him, but still said seriously, “I don’t need it now. When I do, I’ll borrow from you, okay?”

Although there was a suspicion of cheating a child for money, Luo Bei knew Fang Jingzhou’s personality. By saying this, he would be happier.

As expected, Fang Jingzhou’s voice became even more cheerful in the next second. “Then I will work even harder to save money.”

“Did you have a good day today?” Luo Bei asked with concern.

Fang Jingzhou had been back in his hometown for a while now, and during that time, Luo Bei had spoken with Mother Chen a few times on the phone. Mother Chen was a decent person, at least not abusive to her own grandson.

Such a family environment meant that Fang Jingzhou would not receive parental love, but fortunately, he was very sensible and lived a healthy life like other children.

His grandparents didn’t focus all their attention on him, but they still loved him.

“Not bad, I can sleep alone at night now. Grandma says I’m a good boy,” said Fang Jingzhou happily.

Although she had always wanted to keep Fang Jingzhou with her, she realized that she currently lacked the ability to take care of a child in the future. This was the best outcome. Fang Jingzhou was with his relatives, away from his mother who liked to hurt him. He would not be like the Fang Jingzhou in the novel.

He would be loved and would learn to love.

Before hanging up the phone, Fang Jingzhou kissed his smartwatch phone several times. “Beibei, when you have time, you must come and play with me. I have money in my piggy bank, and I can treat you to ice cream.”

“Okay. Jingzhou, good night and sweet dreams.”

“Beibei, good night to you too.”

A few days later, the relevant documents for the unmanned store were almost ready, and everything went smoothly. Grandma Luo invited Zhou Jianguo and Jiang Sihan to dinner.

When Jiang Sihan came over, he brought some large dishes from a seafood restaurant. He had a smile on his face, and as soon as everyone sat down at the table, he couldn’t wait to announce some good news. “I auditioned for a role in a TV drama, male supporting role number four. The production company, screenwriter, and cast are all good. Brother Liu Ge said this drama will be a hit, and we might start filming next month.”

Luo Bei was not at all surprised. After taking on his first web drama, Jiang Sihan’s life was like a cheat code, smooth sailing all the way. Although he encountered a few cannon fodder villains along the way, they were nothing in front of the male lead. In short, Jiang Sihan truly deserved the title of “Tom Sue.”

She picked up the cup in front of her and said, “Congratulations in advance on conquering the entertainment industry, winning awards as a movie emperor, living in a mansion and driving a supercar!”

Jiang Sihan clinked glasses with her and said, “Thanks for your blessings.”

Next, both Zhao Pianpian and Grandma Luo congratulated him. Only Zhou Jianguo, who had been burying his head in his food, raised his head and looked at Jiang Sihan, saying in a deep voice, “Congratulations.”

Jiang Sihan smiled and said, “Actually, I have to thank you. After I joined the crew, I usually ask you to keep an eye on my house. Although there won’t be any thieves, I still troubled you.”

Luo Bei teased him, “The most valuable things in your house are the bed and the table. Who would steal those?” She paused and then said, “From the way you talk about him, this Brotehr Liu seems pretty good. You should listen to him more often.”

Jiang Sihan remembered the things Brother Liu had reminded him of a few days ago and couldn’t help but share the rules of the entertainment industry with everyone present. “A few days ago, Brother Liu asked me to go to the company to notify me of an audition. He also told me that I shouldn’t date for the next two years and focus on my career. He said that if I become famous, there will be competitors who will try to dig up dirt on me. Although there is no explicit rule in the contract, I think Brother Liu has been in this industry for so long, so it seems that stars and artists can’t just date if they want to.”

“This is very normal.” Luo Bei could understand this rule very well. “The receptionist in our company likes Chai Boxuan, who is very popular recently. But not long ago, he was photographed dating Ding Xuan. At first, the receptionist didn’t believe that they were dating and insisted that they were just good friends. But then she was proven wrong when Chai Boxuan announced his relationship. The receptionist was very sad those days and unfollowed him. If you have a fan base and a stable status, there is no problem with announcing your relationship. But if your career is just starting out, it’s like asking for trouble.”

Zhao Pianpian asked curiously, “Did you agree? To not date for two years?”

Jiang Sihan replied with an “Mmm” and said, “I agreed, I don’t have any plans to date anyway.”

As he was munching on chicken wings, Zhou Jianguo looked up at Jiang Sihan, then glanced at Luo Bei. He thought to himself, even if this guy did promise not to date for two years, there was no need to tell Luo Bei. Could it be that this guy really didn’t realize that he had already fallen for Luo Bei?

With this development, it seemed impossible for Luo Bei, with her personality, to end up with this future superstar Xiao Jiang.

This Xiao Jiang seemed pretty smart, but he was actually a fool?

  1. Now im really thinking he fell for her actually but just didn’t realise it in time

    1. Lol. Look at ZJG commenting on this fool in romance.

Joking aside, the dream LB had specifically mentioned one special woman in JSH’s life. Everyone agree that he’s in love with her, but no one mentioned her name. Then, he didn’t love another person till the end of his story (dream of him). Now, it seems that those people didn’t misunderstand him about her and LB was really that “one special woman”.

But, just as you said, he realized his feeling too late. Or as ZJG said, given LB personality, JSH unconscious special attention to LB wasn’t enough to bind them as lover in the future. Perhaps, it’ll work for any other FL in male protagonist career-oriented story. But, it won’t work for LB.

      1. Bro jinxed himself. I wanna feel sorry for him but he’s so clueless. It’s probably for the best that he doesn’t end up with luo bei. ZJG is gonna swoop in before he realizes that he likes luo bei and by then, it will be too late
