The Escaping Little Snow White Ferret from the Black Moonlight Camp – Chapter 29

Chapter 29 – Sweetheart from the Sky: The Gentle CEO’s Sweet Kiss (29)

Bai Mo’s arrival shifted the awkwardness from the atmosphere onto people. Madam Dan and Dan Xiaowen, who had been thoroughly ignored, secretly resented the old master’s blatant favoritism. Yet, on the surface, they had to force themselves to show concern for Bai Mo.

“Thank goodness you’re safe, Xiao Mo. Otherwise, it would’ve been all Wenwen’s fault. It’s good that you’re back.” Madam Dan smiled at Bai Mo before pushing Dan Xiaowen forward. “Wenwen, hurry up and apologize to Xiao Mo.”

Madam Dan had built a perfect excuse for her daughter. No matter how unwilling Dan Xiaowen was, she had to keep up appearances.

“Xiao Mo, I’m sorry. I was too reckless yesterday. You’re so kind—please forgive me just this once.” Dan Xiaowen put on an extremely sincere expression and lowered her stance. The old master’s gaze toward her finally softened a little.

Madam Dan seized the opportunity to continue, adding, “Xiao Mo, Wenwen acted out of concern. She’s still young and doesn’t fully understand things. I’m also at fault for not teaching my daughter better…”

The mother and daughter duo worked in perfect harmony, playing off each other seamlessly. The old master, hearing this, smiled in satisfaction. A harmonious family is a happy family.

Before Bai Mo could respond, the freshly recharged Xiao Bobao exploded in his mind:

“What kind of nonsense is this? So if Mo Mo doesn’t forgive her, that means he’s not kind? What a masterful white lotus act! Every word she says is digging a pit for Mo Mo to fall into. Mo Mo, you better not believe her for a second.”

They’re all old foxes—trying to play ghost stories in front of me? Who are they trying to fool?

Xiao Bobao was all too familiar with this kind of manipulation. There were countless records of people like them in the Lord God’s notebook.

Madam Dan seemed to be speaking in defense of Dan Xiaowen, but her true intention was to imply that Mo Mo was ill-mannered. If Mo Mo sincerely accepted her apology, it would make him seem disrespectful to his elders, solidifying his reputation as someone lacking proper upbringing. This was nothing more than a tactic to step on Mo Mo in front of the old master and elevate herself.

Listening to Xiao Bobao standing up for him, warmth surged through the young boy’s heart. He smiled sweetly and said, “It’s not Sister Wenwen’s fault. I was the one who was immature and caused trouble for everyone. I even made Dad worry so much that he ended up in the hospital. If it weren’t for me, none of this would’ve happened. I should be the one apologizing for making everyone worry. I’m sorry~”

The boy bowed to the old master, his soft and sweet voice carrying a barely noticeable tremor. In that instant, the close father-son bond between them was suddenly distanced.

“I shouldn’t have come back. If I hadn’t returned, none of this would have happened…” the boy murmured to himself. Though his voice was low, every word fell clearly into the ears of the three people in the hospital room.

The old master’s heart twisted with sorrow. What do they mean by ‘Wenwen is still young and doesn’t understand things’? Mo Mo is younger than Wenwen by a few months, yet he endured countless hardships just to survive and grow up.

Dan Xiaowen had enjoyed the lavish lifestyle of the wealthy for so many years in Mo Mo’s place. And after Mo Mo finally returned home, how had he been treated? Out of concern for Wenwen’s feelings, the old master had done his best to treat them equally—whatever Mo Mo had, Wenwen had too. Sometimes, influenced by Madam Dan’s pillow talk, he even gave Wenwen more, out of sympathy for her.

But now, looking back, why?

Mo Mo was the true young master of the Dan family, yet after being home for only a short time, he was already having thoughts of leaving.

“Mo Mo, you are my son. There is no such thing as being a bother. I am more than happy to take care of everything for you.” The old master gently took Bai Mo’s hand, his heart aching for him.

The young boy lifted his head, his eyes slightly reddened. But the moment he met the old master’s affectionate gaze, he shrank back into his shell as if scalded by boiling water. The guilt in the old master’s heart reached its peak.

If there was ever a true turn of events, this was it—Mo Mo, you’re incredible! Xiao Baobao cheered in her heart.

She had thought that the only way Mo Mo could avoid this trap was to suffer in silence and generously forgive Dan Xiaowen. But seeing Madam Dan’s expression, as if she had just swallowed something disgusting, made Xiao Bobao feel as refreshed as drinking ice-cold water on a scorching summer day.

At first, Bai Mo had been acting. He had thought that if he could use this situation to move back into the He family’s home, he wouldn’t have to be separated from his dear boyfriend. But as he spoke, the feelings of grievance overwhelmed him—not just for the original host, but for himself as well. This unbearable injustice was something he refused to accept.

Why should the female lead enjoy all the luxury, share the old master’s love that should have been his, and then step on him to rise higher? He, a little snow ferret, had suffered hardships before—but never this kind of humiliation!

The situation was quickly spiraling out of control. The moment Bai Mo lowered his head, things had already gone beyond Madam Dan’s control. She could only watch helplessly as the old master clumsily tried to “soothe the child,” showering Bai Mo with endless words of comfort. This level of treatment—neither Dan Xiaowen nor Dan Sihe had ever received it.

Kindness does not mean foolishness. There was no reason for him to let his enemy slap him on one cheek and then offer the other for symmetry.

And upon learning that it was Dan Xiaowen who had informed those vampire-like adoptive parents of his whereabouts, Bai Mo decided—it was time to become Snow. Holds-Grudges. Ferret. If he had to suffer, then Dan Xiaowen definitely wouldn’t have it easy either.

Despite the old master’s repeated attempts to persuade him to stay, Bai Mo firmly shook his head and insisted on moving out of the Dan family home. “Yesterday’s incident scared Ning Ning badly. Children can’t handle such fright—I need to go back and comfort him.”

He said “go back”, not “go over”—a clear sign that, in Bai Mo’s subconscious, he never considered the Dan family home to be his real home.

This realization made the old master’s heart ache as if it were being twisted. Mo Mo should have been the child growing up with boundless love and care… and yet now…

It was time for the patient’s medical examination. A nurse knocked on the door to inform them, and Bai Mo pushed the wheelchair over, assisting the nurse in helping the old master sit down.

After a series of tests, all of the old master’s indicators had returned to normal. By the time the nurse wheeled him back out, Dan Sihe had also arrived.

Meanwhile, Bai Mo and He Yuchi stood together, chatting and laughing, seemingly discussing the dinner menu for the evening.

Watching the youthful innocence on Bai Mo’s face, the way he naturally acted spoiled, the old master suddenly realized—ever since he had allowed Madam Dan to arrange Bai Mo’s life under her care, influenced by her subtle manipulations, Bai Mo had never smiled like this again. Every smile he had seen since was nothing more than a polite courtesy.

Worried about Bai Mo, He Yuchi had scheduled an appointment with a psychologist and had come to pick him up. Bai Mo waved goodbye to the old master, then clung to He Yuchi’s arm, skipping playfully as they left the hospital together.

Madam Dan attempted to take over the nurse’s job and push the old master’s wheelchair, but Dan Sihe took it from her hands before she could.

The old master waved his hand tiredly, telling them to go home, and asked Dan Sihe to wheel him downstairs for some fresh air.

Madam Dan had no choice but to watch the father and son leave, feeling utterly helpless. In the end, she unwillingly picked up her designer handbag and left.

The old master was still upset with her—staying any longer would only aggravate him further. It was better to go home and find another way to turn things around.

The afternoon sunlight was warm and comforting as Dan Sihe pushed the wheelchair toward a shaded area.

The old master gazed at the other patients being wheeled outside, watching how harmoniously they interacted with their family members.

For a brief moment, his mind drifted—his youngest son had left home, and his eldest son rarely showed a smile. These were his own children, yet he realized he barely understood what they truly thought or felt.

“Sihe, do you hate me?” After a long silence, the old master finally spoke, his voice low and weary.

Dan Sihe stepped in front of him, crouched down, and tucked the blanket around him. In his usual calm tone, he asked in return, “Mo Mo is moving out today. Do you regret it?”

Regret it?

The old master asked himself.

In truth, he did.

When Madam Dan stood there in her lavish attire while his youngest son silently wept, he had already realized—he was wrong, terribly wrong.
