The Escaping Little Snow White Ferret from the Black Moonlight Camp – Chapter 20

Chapter 20 – Sweetheart from the Sky: The Gentle CEO’s Sweet Kiss (20)

Bai Mo never made it to the convenience store.

As soon as they stepped downstairs, they ran into Dan Sihe in the parking lot. He was holding a paternity test report in his slightly trembling hands, his breath uneven. The moment his gaze landed on Bai Mo, his eyes lit up with an intense brightness.

“Mo Mo, can we find a place to talk?”

Ten minutes later, the three of them were seated in a private dining room of a high-end restaurant. Bai Mo and He Yuchi sat side by side, while Shan Sihe sat across from them. The seating arrangement made it abundantly clear where the priorities lay.

If looks could kill, He Yuchi would have been tortured to death a thousand times over by Dan Sihe’s glare by now. Mo Mo was his little brother. He was here to talk to Mo Mo—could He Yuchi not butt in?!

The answer was obvious—no, he could not.

Not only did He Yuchi refuse to step aside, but he also took every opportunity to assert his presence.

For example, before the food was served, he rolled up Bai Mo’s sleeves for him. When they washed their hands together, their fingers brushed in the water, and every so often, their eyes met—exchanging smiles so warm and affectionate that Bai Mo’s face bloomed like a flower.

Dan Sihe felt deeply provoked.

Mo Mo had never smiled at him like that.

Having been absent from Bai Mo’s life for over a decade, Dan Sihe wasn’t familiar with many of his likes and dislikes. He could only sit there in silent jealousy as He Yuchi effortlessly ordered all of Bai Mo’s favorite dishes. Resolving to make up for lost time, Dan Sihe made a mental note to hire a private chef who could cater precisely to Bai Mo’s tastes.

“Mo Mo, I got the test results today.” Shan Sihe carefully observed Bai Mo’s expression as he slid the report across the table. “We are biological brothers.”

The moment the words left his mouth, both people across from him simultaneously turned to look at him.

Bai Mo’s gaze was clear and sincere—his big, round eyes held neither surprise nor resentment, leaving Dan Sihe feeling uneasy.

This was not the reaction he had anticipated.

In his mind, Bai Mo should have either burst into joy or been overwhelmed with emotion. Instead, the boy remained composed.

It felt like a bucket of ice water had been dumped over his excitement.

The ever-calculating, always-in-control CEO suddenly found himself at a complete loss.

“Mo Mo, big brother finally found you. Come home with me…”

Despite his uncertainty, Dan Sihe still clung to a sliver of hope—that Bai Mo would accept him, that he could take him home and be the best big brother possible, making up for all the suffering Bai Mo had endured.

Then, Bai Mo sweetly called out, “Big brother.”

Dan Sihe, the hardened man he was, felt his heart tremble violently. A warm, stinging sensation welled up in his eyes—was he about to cry?!

“Mo Mo…”

Dan Sihe reached out a hand—

—only for Bai Mo to grab it, pull him up, and dunk it straight into the water basin.

With utter seriousness, Bai Mo admonished him: “You have to wash your hands before eating~”

Then, he turned his head toward He Yuchi, his eyes sparkling as he silently sought praise.

“If you don’t wash your hands before eating, you’ll get a stomachache. That’s what happened to Ning Ning~” Bai Mo, still lacking the full awareness of being “human,” often carried over some bad habits from his animal instincts.

The last time, both he and Ning Ning ended up with stomachaches from not washing their hands, earning them a thorough lecture from Mother He.

Although she was kind, the authority of a middle-aged woman was formidable. Bai Mo definitely did not want to experience that again.

Dan Sihe quietly enjoyed the sensation of Bai Mo washing his hands for him. When his hands were finally clean, he found himself reluctant to let the moment end. He was just about to say something—

—but Bai Mo had already returned to He Yuchi’s side, eagerly seeking praise and head pats.

Dan Sihe: “….”

He Yuchi was such an eyesore.

The meal was satisfying and lively, and in the process, Dan Sihe managed to close some of the distance between him and Bai Mo. However, Bai Mo still did not agree to go home with him.

“Mo Mo, do you still refuse to forgive me?” Dan Sihe’s expression turned melancholic. His solitary figure stood in stark contrast to the affectionate pair sitting opposite him.

“It’s not that~” Bai Mo was actually very happy to have gained another family member—especially one this good-looking, nearly on par with He Yuchi.

“But I can’t bear to leave Ning Ning… or Auntie He…”

“Ning Ning was traumatized by the kidnapping. If he doesn’t see me, he’ll be scared. He’s still so little…”

Dan Sihe suddenly recalled the recent kidnapping case. Of course. Bai Mo was so kind—how could he possibly let Ning Ning endure the same pain he had gone through?

Even though the child had been rescued safely, mental scars couldn’t be ignored. He had heard from Mother He more than once that Ning Ning was extremely attached to Bai Mo.

But Bai Mo had already suffered so much.

“I’ll prepare a room for you at home,” Dan Sihe finally said after a pause. “You can bring Ning Ning with you. Stay with me for a few days now and then, okay?”

This was the best solution he could think of. It was understandable that Bai Mo couldn’t accept him right away—relationships needed time to develop.

If he gave Bai Mo space to gradually get used to him, one day, when Ning Ning had healed, Bai Mo might be willing to come home.

The moment he heard “stay at the Dan residence,” Bai Mo’s body stiffened.

He suddenly remembered—there was still a female protagonist in the Dan family.

If he moved in, he would have to see her.

That woman had already been doing everything she could to cling to He Yuchi even in public. In private, she would undoubtedly find ways to make his life miserable.

His delicate little face scrunched up with reluctance.

But when he looked at Dan Sihe—so earnest and clearly so protective—he couldn’t bring himself to refuse outright.

He mumbled vaguely, “I guess that’s… okay? But I have to ask Ning Ning and Auntie He first…”

After all, he couldn’t just kidnap a baby and take him along, could he?

He Yuchi ruffled Bai Mo’s hair, his gaze filled with meaning as he looked at Dan Sihe.

There were some things that didn’t need to be said.

One look was enough to convey everything.

Dan Sihe understood.

He Yuchi wanted to talk.

Coincidentally, so did he.

That afternoon, after dropping Bai Mo off at the bookstore, the two men headed to a quiet café to have a conversation of their own.

The two men spoke candidly, without beating around the bush. After learning about Bai Mo’s mental state, Dan Sihe became even more cautious. His heart ached for Bai Mo, and his hatred for the mastermind behind the kidnapping grew even stronger.

Dan Sihe asked, “Do we have a lead?”

The culprit was extremely careful. Although the police had a suspect in mind, they couldn’t act recklessly without solid evidence, as that would only alert the perpetrator.

He Yuchi dipped his fingertip in water and wrote a name on the table.

Dan Sihe’s gaze darkened instantly.

It was him.

“I think keeping Mo Mo at my house is the best way to protect him,” He Yuchi said seriously. “If that person finds out about your relationship with Mo Mo, there’s no telling what he might do.”

Although He Yuchi had temporarily stepped away from that world, his instincts were still razor-sharp. If the mastermind discovered that Bai Mo was the second young master of the Dan family, there were only two possible outcomes—

One, the criminal, feeling cornered, would lash out and look for an opportunity to harm Bai Mo.

Or two, he would flee, making it even harder to catch him.

“I was careless,” Dan Sihe admitted, apologizing for nearly putting Bai Mo in danger.

However, he was unwilling to give up his rights and responsibilities as Bai Mo’s older brother.

“The He and Dan families have always been close. My mother and Auntie He were good friends. Because of work, I wasn’t able to help much when it came to Ning Ning’s situation. But now, I plan to shift my focus back to the country.”

“Ning Ning is still shaken from the kidnapping. How about bringing him to my place for a weekend? If you’re worried, you can bring a nanny or someone Ning Ning is familiar with.”

Who was someone Ning Ning was familiar with? Bai Mo, of course.

Dan Sihe didn’t explicitly mention Bai Mo’s name, but every word he said was directed at him. He was willing to cooperate in capturing the mastermind, but he also wanted his younger brother to come home.

“That depends on what Ning Ning and my mother think,” He Yuchi replied with a flawless, insincere smile. “I’ll be sure to pass the message along to my mother, don’t worry—big brother-in-law.”

When a person lacks a sense of security, it’s the easiest time to form emotional bonds. Dan Sihe’s move was a blatant attempt to steal Bai Mo away.

The hatred of someone trying to take Mo Mo from him was unforgivable.

If Dan Sihe thought he could drive a wedge between him and Mo Mo, he could dream on.

That big brother-in-law? He Yuchi was calling him that for sure.
