Chapter 11 – Sweetheart from the Sky: The Gentle CEO’s Sweet Kiss (11)
Under Xiao Bobao’s reminder, Bai Mo reluctantly withdrew his hand.
Still savoring the firm feel of those abs, he wondered if he’d have another chance to touch them again.
“Miss Dan, we have other matters to attend to, so we won’t be keeping you any longer.”
Since the other party was a girl, He Yuchi politely bid farewell to Dan Xiaowen and led Bai Mo to their car.
The luxury sedan sped away, vanishing from Dan Xiaowen’s sight in under three minutes.
She clenched her phone tightly, frustration boiling inside her.
Moments later, her ringtone chimed.
“Wen Wen, how did it go? I had someone track He Yuchi’s movements for you—did you see him at school today?”
On the other end of the call, Mother Dan admired her freshly done nails, blowing on them lightly.
Years of hardship had left her fingers thick and rough, and despite her efforts at maintenance in recent years, they still couldn’t compare to the delicate hands of other wealthy ladies who had never lifted a finger for labor.
“I saw him, but Bai Mo kept sticking to He Yuchi the whole time.”
Dan Xiaowen’s tone was filled with resentment.
“Mom, your method isn’t working. He Yuchi isn’t falling for it at all.”
“Men, dear, they all like gentle and sweet women. That’s exactly how I won over your stepfather. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be living in luxury now.”
Mother Dan’s voice was full of conviction as she delivered her hard-earned wisdom.
“He Yuchi has lost his memory. He doesn’t remember you at all. That means now is the perfect chance for you to keep appearing in front of him, showing him your best side. Over time, he’ll naturally start to see your worth.”
“Your stepfather isn’t in good health—who knows when he might just keel over and die? Dan Sihe has always been indifferent toward us. If you don’t seize this opportunity, once he takes over as president, we’ll be kicked out of the house.”
Her words were a harsh wake-up call, hammering reality into Dan Xiaowen.
Her surname might be Dan, but that didn’t make her part of the Dan family.
She didn’t share their blood.
If Dan Sihe was kind-hearted, he might let them stay.
But if he wasn’t?
Then securing a backup plan was the smartest move.
After carefully evaluating their options, they had chosen He Yuchi.
Not only did he have an outstanding family background, but his character and reputation were also among the best in their social circle.
And now, fate had even blessed them with an opportunity—
He had lost his memory.
With that, he had also forgotten Dan Xiaowen’s spoiled and domineering reputation.
“I understand. I’ll keep trying.”
“Mom, I need you to look into someone for me. His name is Bai Mo…”
To win a battle, you must know your enemy.
Dan Xiaowen wasn’t familiar with Bai Mo,
But if she could dig into his background and uncover his weaknesses,
Then He Yuchi would be hers.
Meanwhile, at the He Family residence…
Hearing the sound of a car pulling into the driveway, He Yuning, who had been playing with building blocks in the study, excitedly dropped his toys and ran outside.
“Big Brother, Brother Mo~”
The little boy wobbled toward them, arms outstretched, demanding to be picked up.
However, when he saw his older brother holding Bai Mo’s hand, He Yuning immediately pouted in displeasure.
“Brother Mo, hold me! Hold me too~”
In his mind, he and Brother Mo were the best in the world, and his big brother could only come in second place.
Ever since the kidnapping incident, Bai Mo had officially claimed the number one spot in He Yuning’s heart.
Reluctantly, Bai Mo let go of He Yuchi’s slender, well-defined fingers and instead picked up the round and chubby little boy.
“Ning Ning has grown again! You’re getting so heavy— Brother Mo can barely hold you anymore~”
Seeing the little cub grow up healthy and strong made him happy.
The little boy, however, was not happy at all.
He wanted Brother Mo to hold him, no matter what!
“Not heavy, not heavy! Ning Ning is still small! Ning Ning is still a baby~”
He stubbornly insisted in his soft, childish voice.
His innocent words immediately drew laughter from everyone.
Stepping forward, He Yuchi gently took He Yuning into his arms.
“Ning Ning is still little, but Brother Mo just got back from his exams and is very tired.”
As soon as he heard that Bai Mo was tired, the little boy obediently snuggled into He Yuchi’s embrace.
Then, he turned his head and seriously advised Bai Mo: “Brother Mo, go to sleep. If you sleep, you won’t be tired anymore.”
In his childlike world, hunger was solved by eating, tiredness was solved by sleeping, and there was nothing in life that couldn’t be fixed with either of those two things.
Even back in the phone booth, when he had been scared and waiting, all it took was a nap—and when he woke up, his daddy and big brother had come to save him.
Carrying the little boy, the two of them walked inside.
Just then, Mother He appeared, carrying a tray of freshly baked cookies.
With a warm smile, she waved to Bai Mo.
“Mo Mo, you’re back! Come and try the cookies Auntie made for you.”
Before meeting Bai Mo in person, Mother He had some reservations about him. However, the moment she saw him, she couldn’t help but feel an inexplicable sense of warmth and familiarity. His delicate features seemed oddly familiar, and after learning about his tragic past, she felt even more sympathy and affection for him.
“Alright, these smell amazing~”
After washing his hands, Bai Mo enthusiastically dug in, munching on cookie after cookie. He even took advantage of a brief moment to sneak a few to Xiao Bobao, who was so touched that tears welled up in her eyes.
Mo Mo is the best!
He’s the best host she’s ever had!
With his cheeks puffed out like a little hamster hoarding food, Bai Mo continued to eat happily.
Mother He watched him with affection, then poured him a glass of water.
“Slow down, there’s no rush. There’s plenty more. If you’re still hungry, I’ll have the housekeeper prepare dinner earlier.”
Such a pitiful child—he must have suffered a lot in the past.
To elders, a child who eats well is a blessing.
A child who eats well and stays active is a sign of good health.
Both He Yuchi and He Yuning had been well-behaved since childhood, so she never had to worry much about them. That’s why she had always felt comfortable leaving them in the care of Yuchi and the housekeepers while traveling with her husband.
Who could have expected the kidnapping incident to happen?
Fortunately, the children had returned home safe and sound.
Even better, their household had gained a new member—Bai Mo.
With more laughter and energy, the house now felt livelier than ever.
“Auntie, I’m full~”
Bai Mo beamed at Mother He.
He absolutely adored her—she was as gentle and caring as a real mother.
She always thought of him, making sure he was well-fed and well-taken care of.
If it weren’t for Xiao Bobao’s DNA check confirming that he wasn’t related to the He family, he might have seriously suspected he was her long-lost biological son.
Now that exams were over, Bai Mo knew he had to start looking for an internship.
Without an internship certificate, he wouldn’t be able to graduate in a few months.
Mother He suggested that he work at He Corporation, since it was a family business—it would be easy and stress-free for him.
Bai Mo shook his head, swallowing the last bite of his cookie.
“I’ve already forgotten so much of what I learned in school. If I work at your company, I’ll just be a burden—that wouldn’t be good. I’ll find something on my own~”
He gently declined her offer.
After all, he had no business knowledge whatsoever.
He wasn’t about to go and drag down the company that the male lead had worked so hard to revive.
Mother He sighed in frustration.
Her eldest son was now happily munching on the cookies Bai Mo had given him—completely clueless about what was happening.
She was so angry!
Like father, like son.
Both of them were as stubborn as mules—you could beat them with a stick, and they still wouldn’t say a word!
Who was she working so hard for?
Wasn’t it all for him?!
She could see that her eldest son wasn’t making any progress, so she was trying to help create opportunities for him!
If Bai Mo worked at the company, they could commute together, spend more time together, and develop deeper feelings for each other—how perfect would that be?
Yet, none of them understood her well-intentioned efforts.
Xiao Bobao did understand, but she wasn’t going to remind Bai Mo.
Although today’s performance from the male lead was barely acceptable, it still wasn’t good enough.
The Main God’s notebook clearly stated: “Anything obtained too easily will not be cherished.”
As long as He Yuchi didn’t develop feelings for the female lead, she wouldn’t object to him pursuing Bai Mo in the future.
After all, Bai Mo did like him.
But whether he could win Bai Mo over—well, that would depend on his own abilities.
After finishing the cookies, He Yuchi picked up a wet wipe and gently wiped the crumbs from Bai Mo’s lips.
Amused, he turned to his helpless yet worried mother and said,
“Mom, I’ve lost my memory and I’m unfamiliar with the company’s affairs. I’ll go job hunting with Mo Mo, and once I regain my memory, I’ll return. In the meantime, Dad will have to hold down the fort.”
Mother He had long given up on getting her eldest son to cooperate with her plans.
But unexpectedly hearing these words, her face lit up with joy.
“Alright! Your father is there to take care of the company, so don’t worry about it. Mo Mo is just stepping into society and lacks experience—you should take good care of him.”
Then, she took Bai Mo’s hand and, without giving him a chance to refuse, earnestly pleaded:
“Auntie knows you young people have your own ideas and don’t like being lectured by elders. But the world is dangerous. Last time, you and Ning Ning were deceived and taken away—I was really terrified. It’s just an internship, so let Yuchi look after you, alright? It will ease Auntie’s heart…”
As a respectful and kind-hearted snow ferret, Bai Mo simply couldn’t bring himself to reject Mother He, who was genuinely looking out for him.
He glanced at He Yuchi, who winked at him mischievously.
Under the table, He Yuchi’s hand gently tugged at his.
Sitting so close together, Bai Mo’s hand accidentally brushed against the firm muscles of He Yuchi’s abdomen.
The subtle, teasing touch sent a dizzying wave through Bai Mo’s mind.
In his moment of daze, he nodded absentmindedly.
