Wan Tong took off her clothes and watched as they dissolved into data, disappearing into the air. She stared at the empty space for a moment, guessing that they had probably returned to <Wanwan’s Little House>.
That night was her first time using her newly generated body, so she hadn’t been wearing any clothes. But today, she had been dressed in system-issued clothing.
Now the problem was, what was she supposed to wear when she went out?
“Lou Yan?” she called softly.
“Mm, I’m here.”
Almost as soon as she spoke, Lou Yan responded, his voice sounding very close.
Wan Tong looked toward the door. So… he was still standing there?
“I need clothes.”
“…Alright.”
Lou Yan quickly returned to his room. When he saw a row of shirts, his mind suddenly drifted to the white shirt that had been torn apart…
He immediately went to Old A, crouching down in front of it. “Old A, has today’s trash been processed?”
Old A started up slowly, but after flickering twice, it dimmed again.
It had only been a few days since he last repaired it, and its functions were already malfunctioning again.
He reached behind Old A and pressed a button, opening the compartment where trash was stored. Reaching inside, he carefully pulled out a few strands of white fabric and set them aside.
After Wan Tong finished her shower, she called out to Lou Yan, and he responded right away, “Wanwan, open the door. I’ll hand them to you.”
Obediently, Wan Tong opened the door slightly and stretched out her hand.
Her fair, delicate hand was still dotted with tiny droplets of water, her pink nails glowing with a healthy sheen. Lou Yan’s gaze flickered over them before he placed the clothes in her hand.
A short while later, Wan Tong stepped out, now dressed in a set of orange loungewear.
“Women’s clothing?”
“I bought it by accident,” Lou Yan explained naturally. He had simply, accidentally, purchased a couple’s set.
Wan Tong wasn’t wearing anything underneath, and under his heated gaze, she bit her lip before deciding to dissolve into a streak of blue light, returning to his quantum brain.
The orange loungewear fell to the floor.
Lou Yan looked at it with a trace of regret, bent down to pick it up, and in the next instant, Wan Tong reappeared in a short red slip dress.
“As expected, this is much more convenient,” she said, tugging at the hem.
Lou Yan reached out and ruffled her hair with a smile. “Was showering fun?”
Seeing how serious he looked when asking, Wan Tong was caught between laughter and tears. Did he think she had taken a bath just for fun?
“I didn’t do it for fun,” she defended herself.
Lou Yan only chuckled, holding the clothes in his arms, his dark eyes tinged with warmth.
Wan Tong giggled along with him before turning toward his room.
Her steps were lighter, but she still wasn’t entirely used to her body. She tripped over a rug and nearly fell, until Lou Yan caught her hand and steadied her.
Just then, Wan Tong spotted the white fabric strips on the table, and her steps faltered.
Beside her, Lou Yan leaned in close and murmured into her ear, “Wanwan, let’s talk about that night.”
Wan Tong took a deep breath and immediately crouched down, covering her ears. “Wanwan doesn’t want to talk!”
Lou Yan was amused by her reaction. He crouched beside her and gently pulled her into a hug. “Alright, we won’t talk.”
“…Wanwan isn’t mad at me, right?” he asked softly.
Wan Tong lowered her hands and burrowed into his embrace. “Mm…”
Lou Yan’s lips parted slightly, curving into a silent smile. There was no moment more satisfying than this one.
That night, Wan Tong wanted to dispose of the white fabric strips but found that they had disappeared. Lou Yan must have thrown them away.
Lou Yan took a few days off, spending almost all his time at home. As a result, every time Qin Yang and the others saw him with Wan Tong, they gave them knowing looks.
Wan Tong was completely innocent. Over the past few days, she had been learning… how to be a proper human. At the very least, she no longer tripped or bumped into things when she walked. Lou Yan even helped her obtain a citizenship ID. However, when they went to register, the staff looked at her in shock. A young girl even reached out to touch her hand, as if trying to confirm whether she was real or just a 2D character.
Other than that, Wan Tong really hadn’t done anything!
And every night, she returned to the optical computer!
A few days later, when Lou Yan had to go back to work, Wan Tong had no choice but to stay inside the optical computer again.
Around noon, Ai Lun suddenly called Lou Yan into a lounge.
On a recliner, Lin Jielin lay unconscious, while a middle-aged man sat beside her.
Ai Lun explained that Lin Jielin had tried to seduce him but had ended up being drugged and passed out instead.
And the man beside her was a hypnosis expert.
Wan Tong instantly realized what Ai Lun and Lou Yan were planning. They suspected that Lin Jielin had hypnotized Lou Yan in the past to extract his thoughts about the game. Now, they had brought in a hypnotist to turn the tables and get information out of her.
Her internal alarm bells rang. Would they end up uncovering something about the Raider system?
Just as she was worrying, something stirred on Shishi’s end.
Lin Jielin’s system urgently activated its protection mechanism, forcibly taking the Raider away!
Wan Tong had no idea what state the Raider was in when she entered this body. She was only afraid that Lin Jielin would die here, so in a moment of desperation, she emerged from the optical brain.
Lou Yan turned his head to look at her, reached out, and led her away.
“Don’t worry, it’s just hypnosis.”
“Will her body be okay?”
“Are you worried about her?”
“I’m worried about you.” Wan Tong tightened her grip on his hand.
Lou Yan was briefly stunned, then his lips curved into a smile. “Mm.”
Ai Lun soon came out, and as expected, he didn’t get any useful information. “Strange, how did she manage to detect your game project?”
His gaze swept past Wan Tong and paused for a moment. “Huh?”
Before he could say anything more, the hypnosis master walked out from behind him. “She’s awake.”
Upon hearing that, Ai Lun adjusted his collar and walked back inside.
Wan Tong stuck out her tongue playfully and quietly returned to Lou Yan’s optical brain.
When Lin Jielin woke up, her mind was blank. She didn’t even know why she was here, as if she had lost her memory…
This meant that her body was intact, and after the Raider left, the real Lin Jielin had returned.
Wan Tong felt relieved, but Lou Yan and Ai Lun were completely puzzled. They could only guess that the hypnosis master had somehow damaged Lin Jielin’s mind.
Later, Ai Lun still assigned people to monitor Lin Jielin and found that she seemed like a completely different person. Or rather, she had reverted to the person she used to be.
The plagiarism case involving <Explorer> had finally been settled. Sou Ben had to pay substantial compensation and lost all credibility, while Ruili Company was able to continue developing the game.
A few months later, when the game was released, Lou Yan ended his collaboration with Ruili Games. Many people assumed he had fallen out with them over profits, but in reality, the project had simply come to an end.
On the day of his departure, Ai Lun hugged Lou Yan with a look like he was about to cry. Wan Tong couldn’t stand it anymore and directly dragged Lou Yan away.
—So clingy, what kind of man is that?!
Not long after, Lou Yan and Wan Tong moved into a more spacious apartment, but he wasn’t in a hurry to develop a new game or start a company.
Wan Tong was getting anxious.
Lately, he was acting like an overly dependent child, taking her everywhere he went. She was starting to think he had forgotten his ambition! Could he at least act like a proper business mogul?!
Wan Tong recalled all the capable assistants Lou Yan had in the plot and started gathering their information one by one.
One day, Lou Yan somehow came across this folder. As he flipped through it, he saw one fresh, talented face after another.
His eyes narrowed slightly as he turned to look at Wan Tong, who was busy sorting clothes in front of the wardrobe.
Her passion for dressing up seemed ingrained in her. Even in real life, she loved buying all sorts of new outfits and tirelessly trying them on, despite the inconvenience of changing in the real world.
“Wanwan,” Lou Yan’s deep, rich voice came from behind her.
“Mm?” Wan Tong responded absentmindedly, hanging up a dark floral dress.
Suddenly, a pair of arms wrapped tightly around her waist.
The man rested his head on her shoulder, his cheek brushing against her soft hair. “Wanwan, did you set your sights on another man?”
“???” Wan Tong turned to face him. “Who did I set my sights on?”
Lou Yan whispered a name. Wan Tong covered her mouth, laughing.
“I was actually trying to find you some business partners to start a company with.”
“Why start a company?” Lou Yan frowned slightly. It felt like a waste of time, he just wanted to be with her every day.
Wan Tong’s sense of responsibility surged. “Lou Yan, listen to me. You’re still young, you should go out and make a name for yourself! With your talent, nothing is out of reach. Even Ai Lun said that if you ever need help, he’s willing to lend a hand… Lou Yan, don’t you want to develop an even bigger game, one that will be known worldwide?”
Lou Yan listened intently, tilting his head slightly as if considering her words.
Wan Tong was secretly thrilled, thinking she had convinced him, but in the next second, he brushed his thumb against her lips and suddenly lowered his head to kiss her.
Through the daze, she heard his low murmur. “Wanwan speaks so well.”
His tone carried a hint of pride, like a parent praising their child for earning a ‘Model Student’ award.
Wan Tong pressed her hands against his chest, barely managing to push him away, panting slightly. “So… did you actually listen to what I said?”
Lou Yan’s gaze lingered on her slightly swollen lips. His dark eyes burned with intensity, making his throat dry. “Mm, I heard you.”
Then, he cupped her face and kissed her again.
Wan Tong : …
For the past few months, they had been acting like lovers, but because of what happened that night, he seemed to carry some guilt, always treating her with utmost care—kisses and hugs, but never more than that.
From her perspective, he had finally reached his limit.
The next morning, Wan Tong woke up sore all over. Just as she was about to return to the optical computer, Lou Yan pulled her back, their bodies intimately pressed together.
“Don’t go, Wanwan. Never leave me again.” His lips brushed lightly against the back of her ear, his voice low and magnetic.
“I was just going back to the optical computer…” She had always considered it her little nest. In moments like this, she could go back and relax.
Lou Yan lifted his gaze slightly, his dark eyes half-lidded. “Don’t go back.”
Sensing something different in him, Wan Tong turned around and met his gaze head-on.
“Are you afraid I won’t come back?” she asked softly.
Lou Yan’s Adam’s apple moved slightly. After a long pause, he let out a quiet “Mm. I’m afraid of anything that could affect your existence, Wanwan.”
To him, she was an enigma.
And that’s why he was afraid.
Only by keeping her within his sight could he feel a sense of reality.
“Alright, then I won’t leave anymore. But if you ever need my help, I might consider it. Also, you have to buy me lots and lots of clothes, all the newest styles…” The girl’s voice was soft and lingering, melodious to the ear.
Lou Yan pulled her into a tight embrace, burying his face in the crook of her shoulder. His voice was muffled. “Okay.”
A grown man, acting all clingy like a child, it triggered Wan Tong’s maternal instincts. She gently stroked his dark hair with her small hand.
From that day on, Wan Tong never entered the optical computer again.
Lou Yan established a gaming company, and his development team grew steadily. Among them were a few people Wan Tong had recommended.
Though she had never actually met them.
According to the original plot, Lou Yan’s next game was supposed to be an adventure-based one, as this world craved excitement.
But when the game entered beta testing, Wan Tong discovered that it was actually a game with quick transmigration mode!
The neural-linked gaming pod allowed players to travel across different worlds, battle monsters, and clear levels. The game was still expanding in difficulty…
Even though this version deviated from the original plot, it still caused a sensation upon release, taking the online gaming world by storm.
The immersive experience of the full-dive virtual world surpassed all previous games. The NPCs were highly intelligent, and to prevent addiction or confusion between reality and the game, the pods were equipped with an alarm system. If a player’s physical condition fell below safe thresholds, the system would forcibly terminate the session.
Wan Tong created an account and cleared the game in under an hour. When she logged out, she was in a daze.
The situation she was in… wasn’t it eerily similar to this quick transmigration game?
She even started wondering, was she also stuck in a fully immersive game, endlessly clearing missions?
But she quickly dismissed the thought. No matter how much she pondered, there would never be an answer.
Besides, in her opinion, Shishi, the system accompanying her, was barely useful at all. It didn’t function like a proper game system. In contrast, she found the Raiders’ system much more practical.
Wan Tong only re-entered the optical computer to help Old A transfer its system into a new body. Its original hardware had completely deteriorated, and if Lou Yan had done the transplant himself, there was a risk of resetting it. In the end, it was only with Wan Tong’s help that Old A was successfully transferred without any data loss.
Old A had always been quiet. But after moving into the new body, it became noisy and nagging, like a housekeeper.
Wan Tong didn’t mind. She found it endearing.
What surprised her more was that Ai Lun and Lin Jielin had gotten together.
She shared the news with Lou Yan. He looked at her silently for a few seconds, as if just recalling something, and said, “Oh, her.”
Then, his attention shifted back to her wardrobe. “Wanwan, aren’t you going to change into your new clothes?”
Wan Tong immediately brightened at the reminder. “Of course!”
Watching her eagerly dash off, Lou Yan chuckled softly and followed her.
He didn’t like her diverting attention to others.
She only needed to focus on him.
Well… even if her love for new outfits slightly overshadowed her attention to him.
Ever since she stopped entering the optical computer, she had become obsessed with real-life dress-up games.
“Does it look good?” The girl had already changed into a black dress with a V-shaped cut at the back, revealing a small patch of fair skin that peeked through her dark locks.
“It looks good.” Lou Yan’s gaze swept over her as he nodded approvingly.
“Then I’ll try on the next one!” She turned away with a grin.
Lou Yan’s palm gently rested on her back as he murmured near her ear, “Let me help Wanwan change.”
“…”
Wan Tong spent a long time in this world. Since she couldn’t age, she would occasionally enter the neural network to tweak her parameters before returning, to accompany him as he slowly grew old.
Lou Yan prided himself on his expertise in computer technology, yet he never figured out his girl’s secret.
Not that he needed to.
Somehow, he just knew, she would stay with him for a long, long time.
If not in this life, then in the next.
When Wan Tong returned to the void space, she posed a question to Shishi. [Shishi, do you think we’re inside a quick transmigration game?]
[Tongtong, I’m sorry. All my data records were refreshed by you.]
Wan Tong nodded. She had known this already. The “Corpse Collecting System” had started as a blank slate, merely executing one directive, find a soul to bind with and complete missions.
A face flashed through her mind, and she murmured, “Maybe he has the answer…”
[Who?] Shishi asked.
Wan Tong didn’t answer. Instead, she huffed impatiently, “Useless Shishi.”
Shishi : […]
After a long silence, it seemed unwilling to back down. It stubbornly muttered, [Shishi is very useful.]
Wan Tong’s mood lifted instantly. She closed her eyes and entered the next world.
rokumi’s note : As in the previous few worlds, there is a little more to this chapter, but it’s the start of a new world so I put them directly in the next chapter.
