Extra: Meeting the Parents
The news of Jiang Shi and Han Yuze’s relationship eventually reached the elders at home.
If we trace back to the source, it was due to a momentary slip of the tongue during a call between Jiang Yan and the family. Following the conversation, Mother Jiang got all the details out of her, leading to the second meeting being arranged under constant urging.
However, no matter how it was set, it didn’t spare someone from a series of nagging.
Han Yuze’s continuous chatter surprised Jiang Shi. It went on until the moment of departure.
“To be honest, it’s a bit sudden. Although my sister said Aunt’s attitude is good, I’m still worried that something might not be well-prepared,” Han Yuze squatted in front of the suitcase, doing the final check before leaving, “Do you think Uncle and Aunt will like the gifts we brought back?”
Jiang Shi, sitting on the sofa, laughed, “Are you seeking advice from Dr. Han? God Yu, you don’t seem as calm as usual. If I remember correctly, the last time you visited my house without a second thought, was your face as thick as a city wall?”
“It’s different this time,” after finishing the check, Han Yuze closed the suitcase, “The status is different.”
And, he paused before saying, “It’s also my first time.”
The tail end of his words fell into Jiang Shi’s ears, and a smile appeared on his lips, “Coincidentally, it’s my first time too.”
The two set off together to their hometown, and the journey went smoothly. They arrived at Jiang’s house at the agreed time.
Jiang Shi, sitting in the front passenger seat, saw the figures waiting downstairs, including his parents and Jiang Yan, who had returned a few days earlier to witness the excitement.
Thinking about it, as the car stopped, he felt the car sway vigorously under Han Yuze’s sudden braking.
Jiang Shi couldn’t hold back his laughter this time.
Who would have thought that the fearsome God Yu on the continent of Genesis, the masterful operation expert, would also experience such nervousness to the point of trembling.
Getting out of the car, Jiang Shi stood by and watched Han Yuze busily take out the gifts from the back of the car. He handed them over to mother Jiang, saying, “Auntie.”
This unprecedented obedient attitude made the man appear gentle and compliant. However, for some reason, it just made Jiang Shi want to laugh even more.
But Jiang Shi didn’t laugh for long.
Mother Jiang, after laughing and thoroughly inspecting Han Yuze, directly patted Jiang Shi on the back with a slap, “What are you doing just standing there? Don’t know to come over and help with the things! Even though Xiao Han usually spoils you, you can’t just rely on that and not do anything. From now on, you must help out normally in daily life. Understand!”
Jiang Shi glanced at Han Yuze, who was still playing the role of a good grandson, without any rebellious intent towards his mother, “Understood.”
The group entered the house cheerfully and sat directly at the dining table.
Various dishes were prepared early in the morning, and it was time to start the meal when everyone arrived.
Mother Jiang looked at Han Yuze with satisfaction as he picked and chose dishes for Jiang Shi, and her eyes curved into a smile, “I knew it. When you came last time, I felt that your relationship was different. But you insisted on keeping it a secret.”
Han Yuze said, “Auntie, at that time, it really hadn’t reached this point. Mainly, I was thinking that in case Jiang Shi felt that I wasn’t suitable after we started dating, then… you know?”
Jiang Shi glanced at him.
Even if he pretended to be obedient, he couldn’t hide his true self. The move of strategically retreating to advance was used quite cleverly.
But obviously, mother Jiang liked Han Yuze’s approach, “You’re thinking too much. Xiao Han, you’re such a good person, good-looking too. Since you can be with Jiang Shi, it means you’re fated. I already felt that you two were very suitable when you came last time. Also, with the relationship between Jiang Yan and Yiyuan, it’s even more closely connected. At least, from my perspective, it’s a hundred percent approval.”
Han Yuze smiled as he served a bowl of soup to mother Jiang, “I also felt a special connection with Auntie last time.”
Jiang Shi, quietly eating his meal, endured the process of someone currying favor with his mother.
Glancing at father Jiang’s expression during the process, he seemed to be of the same opinion.
When the meal was over, Jiang Shi watched Han Yuze happily chatting with his mother as if he were the favored son. It was as if he were the real son of the Jiang family.
Mother Jiang asked Jiang Shi to help tidy up the table, and as expected, a relentless barrage of questions began.
“How long have you been officially together?”
“What are your plans for the next step?”
“If it’s about time, why not consider getting engaged with your sister and Yiyuan?”
“Oh no, you haven’t visited their house yet, right?”
“Then, wait until you’ve visited their house before making any plans.”
Jiang Shi was on the side, nodding and agreeing, occasionally glancing in the direction of the living room.
And the culprit who gained his mother’s favor was comfortably sitting there watching TV. Occasionally, he would chat with Jiang Yan, making her burst into laughter.
After washing the dishes, mother Jiang finally released Jiang Shi, reminding him to take Han Yuze to the guest room.
Jiang Shi walked into the living room, directly grabbed the person on the sofa, and headed upstairs.
Han Yuze, being dragged along by Jiang Shi, remained silent.
It wasn’t until they entered the guest room, and Jiang Shi closed the door, that Han Yuze grinned and spoke, “So, how did your boyfriend perform?”
“Well, not bad, perhaps a bit too much,” Jiang Shi glanced at him, “My mom is already eagerly envisioning our wedding.”
“It seems that your mom is really quite satisfied with me, so I’m relieved,” Han Yuze smiled, grabbing Jiang Shi’s hand and gently pinching it, “And it’s not too rushed, is it? When it comes to weddings, maybe we can start considering it?”
Jiang Shi raised an eyebrow with a half-smile, “Really? I wasn’t aware.”
“You can’t back out of this,” Han Yuze chuckled, “On Valentine’s Day, you already accepted my ring.”
“Can you be any more shameless?” Jiang Shi lightly kicked him with the tip of his foot, “Does in-game items count too?”
“Yes, they count,” Han Yuze said, then suddenly pulled out a box from his pocket. Opening it with a grin, he presented it to Jiang Shi, “If you feel it doesn’t count, consider this an immediate supplement.”
Jiang Shi, looking closely at the contents of the box, was momentarily surprised, “When did you prepare this?”
“Before coming here,” Han Yuze said while delicately lifting Jiang Shi’s fingers, and with an extremely careful motion, he slowly placed a specially customized ring on him, “I thought if my parents weren’t satisfied enough, I could perform an on-the-spot proposal to turn the situation around.”
Jiang Shi looked down at Han Yuze’s serious actions, and a hint of a smile couldn’t be concealed in his eyes.
He noticed the design of this ring, similar to the one on Valentine’s Day but with some new additions, indicating that considerable thought had gone into it.
Without rejecting it, after wearing it, he carefully examined it in front of him and deliberately continued, “So, is that it?”
“Not enough?” Han Yuze also knew that Jiang Shi was teasing him, looked at him with a smile, and even took out his wallet. He handed over a card, saying, “Otherwise, for the future, should I transfer everything to you? Entrust everything to you, is that enough?”
Jiang Shi still shook his head, “Still not enough.”
Watching him calmly put the bank card into his own pocket without saying anything, Han Yuze chuckled, “Teacher Jiang, it’s really not easy to marry you.”
“Of course,” after collecting the bank card, Jiang Shi comfortably sat on the bedside, tilted his head, and smiled at him, “So, is there anything else?”
The gaze between the two met in the room, and the next second, Han Yuze didn’t say anything more. He directly walked up and pressed Jiang Shi beneath him, fiercely kissing him.
When they separated, their breaths were already somewhat hurried. In the ambiguous atmosphere, even the following words were pronounced with a strong nasal sound, “One more thing, how about we get married first?”
Jiang Shi’s eyes also carried a thin mist.
At first, it seemed like he didn’t understand the meaning behind the words, but he quickly reacted, “An online wedding?”
Han Yuze looked at him directly, “One online, one offline. Two grand weddings of the century. God Milk, is this enough to welcome you into the family?”
After saying this, seeing that Jiang Shi still wanted to put on a serious thinking appearance, he laughed again and directly continued to kiss him.
After teasing, he whispered with a hoarse voice, “So, let’s get married, okay?”
The surrounding environment fell into a quiet state as these words lingered.
After a long time, finally, Jiang Shi’s gentle and tender reply was heard, “Mm, okay.”
A gentle breeze blew in from the window, and the curtains swayed with it.
Faintly, the sound of Jiang Yan calling their names downstairs could be heard. The two exchanged a glance, then, from the somewhat awkward posture on the bed, they stood up.
“Coming, we’re coming down,” Jiang Shi replied loudly, slowly tidying up the disheveled clothes.
Lifting his head again, he happened to see Han Yuze standing at the door, smiling and reaching out his hand.
Jiang Shi didn’t control the curvature of his lips, extending his hand into the other’s palm.
Under the gaze of everyone downstairs, the two, intertwined like a cross, walked down the stairs.
Mother Jiang noticed the ring on Jiang Shi’s finger, and her eyes were on the verge of disappearing with laughter, “Young people, don’t stay in the room all day. Go out and have some fun together.”
Jiang Shi and Han Yuze exchanged a smile, “Okay, Mom.”
[End of Meeting the Parents Arc]
The mom already knew about the relationship from the first meeting. Seems author forgot that lol.
