Chapter 9 – No one is capable of bullying your Mommy
Something’s wrong. Why did Lu Xi suddenly turn against Xie Heng? He didn’t want to get involved in a conflict between her and Wang Ling!
Xie Heng hated trouble the most and didn’t want to help anyone. But Lu Xi’s gaze made him feel guilty.
Wang Ling was furious. “You’re the outsider! Why should Xiao Heng help you? You’re not even his real mother!”
Oh? Bringing up his real mother?
Lu Xi sneered coldly, beautiful and arrogant. This expression was natural for her and didn’t make people dislike her. “When you talk about Xiao Heng’s real mother, didn’t you say she was useless except for her looks, had a bad temper, came from an ordinary family, and was an orphan?
“Also, didn’t you sow discord between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law in front of the Old Madam, trying to get Old Madam to make Xie Yizhao divorce and find another woman?”
Wang Ling was stunned, her dry lips trembling, staring at Lu Xi in shock.
How did she know this?!
Could it be that Xie Yizhao knew something and told her?
Lu Xi almost laughed. She knew because she was the one involved. She held grudges. Back then, Wang Ling made things difficult for her, causing a particularly bad relationship between her and her mother-in-law. Fortunately, she didn’t care.
She married Xie Yizhao, not his family. If she got along with her mother-in-law, fine; if not, they could stay out of each other’s way. Fortunately, Xie Yizhao was sensible and never forced her to get along with his mother.
Wang Ling grabbed Xie Heng. “Don’t listen to her nonsense. It’s not like that…”
Xie Heng, with a stern face, impatiently shook her off, his tone unusually serious. “So you made things difficult for my mother back then and wanted my father to divorce her?”
“It’s not true…”
Despite Wang Ling’s strong denial, Xie Heng found it hard to believe her.
He wasn’t biased toward Lu Xi, but her story was detailed and specific. Wang Ling’s surprised and guilty expression was too suspicious.
Compared to his real mother, Wang Ling’s cheap concern meant nothing.
Xie Heng personally issued an eviction order.
Wang Ling was kicked out, her face pale, opening and closing her mouth, not knowing how to defend herself.
This woman was really something!
Xie Heng stood silently by the window.
He felt blocked inside, angry, and indescribably upset.
Seeing Wang Ling’s age, he didn’t lose his temper and tell her to get out, which was already a sign of his good upbringing.
The atmosphere suddenly became heavy.
Xie Heng hung his head, like a lonely little wolf cub.
The butler wanted to say something to comfort him but was at a loss. Anything said now would seem weak.
The usually carefree young master, it turned out, missed his mother so deeply and had such delicate feelings.
Lu Xi hadn’t expected Xie Heng to defend her so much. Even though it was something from the past, it still mattered to him.
She felt warm inside and suddenly found this headstrong boy cute, and the more she looked at him, the more pleasing he became.
After thinking for a moment, Lu Xi softly said, “If you’re upset, you can go to your room and cry. I promise I won’t eavesdrop. I understand you.”
Xie Heng instantly bristled. “Who wants to cry? You don’t understand!”
Lu Xi: “My parents died when I was very young, so I understand.”
“…” Xie Heng was stunned, seeing that she wasn’t joking. Awkwardly, he whispered, “I didn’t know. I’m sorry.”
“Apologizing means you’re still a good kid,” Lu Xi smiled with relief, “It’s okay. I know they all love me, and that’s enough.”
“Mhm.”
Xie Heng was still feeling down, looking more like a drenched puppy than a little wolf. He was lost in his inexplicable sadness and didn’t notice Lu Xi walking over. She caught him off guard by standing on tiptoes and reaching out to ruffle his hair.
Hmm, nice feel. Though it looked spiky, it was actually soft.
Xie Heng nearly jumped!
He swatted her hand away and glared at her, his ears turning red with anger. “Are you crazy? Who let you touch me? You can’t just touch a man’s head!”
Tch.
Little kid, calling himself a man.
“Your Mommy loves you very much too. Knowing that is enough,” Lu Xi squinted her eyes slightly, a smug expression on her face. “And don’t worry, no one can bully your Mommy.”
Xie Heng’s mouth twitched.
What Mommy… It was so unbearably cheesy.
Xie Heng stormed back to his room, wanting to slam the door loudly to show his displeasure. But remembering that Lu Xi disliked loud noises and would get a headache, he grudgingly held back.
From now on, besides guarding against her flicking his forehead and pinching his cheeks, he had to be wary of her sudden head pats!
Life in this house was really tough for him…
As he fumed, he recalled what she had said earlier, and suspicion began to grow in his mind.
Wait a minute, how did she know about his Mom?
Could Xie Yizhao have told her?
Or… could she really be…?
Realizing how absurd his thoughts were, he shook his head. He must be going crazy, almost brainwashed by that woman.
She couldn’t possibly be his real Mom.
That evening, Xie Yizhao came home earlier than usual, just in time for dinner.
In the dining room, the three of them sat at the table as the servants brought out the dishes one by one. Xie Yizhao noticed that Lu Xi wasn’t eating much tonight and was only picking at the lighter dishes like creamy shrimp, mushroom soup, and seafood porridge. It was obvious she had eaten too much fried chicken last night and her stomach was fed up.
Xie Yizhao maintained a calm demeanor, a slight smile on his lips, and turned his gaze to the teenager opposite him, feeling a bit surprised.
It was unusual. Today was Sunday, but Xie Heng hadn’t gone out to play. He had stayed home all day and was even sitting at the dinner table obediently.
But his behavior was odd.
Boys his age were growing and had big appetites. Xie Heng’s was particularly large tonight; he refilled his rice three times.
As he ate, he occasionally shot a challenging look at Lu Xi, as if showing off something.
Showing off what? That he could eat a lot?
And other puzzling behaviors – he had pointed out several dishes he liked, told the housekeeper to make them more often, and said, “From now on, make more of my favorite dishes. After all, I’m an important member of this family.”
Lu Xi casually interrupted his spell, “Add more walnuts and sesame seeds to the young master’s menu.”
Xie Heng was taken aback: “I don’t like those two.”
Lu Xi : “Walnuts are good for the brain, and sesame seeds are good for the hair. They’re good for you.”
Xie Heng’s face flushed with anger: “…”
She shouldn’t think he’s really dumb! He understood she was mocking him!
Although Xie Yizhao didn’t know what had happened, it seemed like the two were speaking in riddles. Xie Heng was so angry that the veins on the back of his hand stood out, yet he didn’t lose his temper or flip out. He stubbornly finished his bowl of rice before sulkingly going upstairs.
It was truly… an eye-opener.
Is the sun rising from the west today, or should he say Lu Xi has taught her child well?
Xie Yizhao was used to being in control of everything. He rarely felt curious because very few things could surprise him. Just as he was about to ask Lu Xi something, she put down her chopsticks. “I’m full. I’m going upstairs.”
“Xiao Xi.” Xie Yizhao called her in a low voice.
She looked up at him.
Xie Yichao paused, seemingly thinking about something, then asked calmly, “You shouldn’t lie down right after eating. How about I accompany you for a walk?”
A walk?
Lu Xi was a little surprised. Xie Yizhao actually had the leisure for such a thing? Usually, he either didn’t come home or would bury himself in his study after coming back. Today was really unusual.
Suddenly, Lu Xi realized something.
The once business prodigy, now entering middle age, inevitably needed to start taking care of his health.
Understandable, understandable.
“No, I’m very tired,” still with the face of a young girl and a youthful mindset, Lu Xi unceremoniously refused. After thinking for a moment, she added, “I want to watch my show.”
The dramas of this era were so good! After fifteen years, many particularly classic works had accumulated. The best part was not having to wait for new episodes, allowing her to binge-watch to her heart’s content.
Xie Yizhao pursed his lips, hiding a hint of helplessness in his eyes.
So, she was too tired to go for a walk with him but had no problem watching dramas?
He had no choice but to call the butler and ask about today’s events. The butler, very professional and with an excellent memory, recounted the conversation between Madam and Wang Ling.
Xie Yichao listened, his eyes darkening.
It seemed that many things had happened in the past that he was unaware of, and Lu Xi had never complained to him.
All along, he had been quite lenient with Wang Ling, partly out of respect for his deceased mother, allowing her to continue living in the old house, paying her even though she did no work, and occasionally turning a blind eye when she used the family’s driver for personal matters.
These small issues didn’t bother him, but that didn’t mean he could tolerate an outsider meddling in his family affairs.
Wang Ling had really overstepped her bounds.
“Inform the villa’s security to blacklist her, preventing her from entering in the future. Additionally, she has one day to move out of the old house, and her salary will no longer be paid.” Xie Yizhao didn’t want her to have any more opportunities to contact anyone in his family, including Lu Xi and Xie Heng.
Lu Xi, unaware that Xie Yizhao had already dealt with Wang Ling, had a sudden craving for milk tea before going upstairs. Wanting to be healthier, she asked the kitchen to make a cup for her.
Not one to be selfish, she also had the kitchen prepare a cup for Xie Yizhao and Xie Heng, thoughtfully adding special notes.
Twenty minutes later.
Xie Yizhao received a cup of milk tea with goji berries1, while Xie Heng’s had walnuts.
Xie Yichao : ???
Xie Heng : !!!
- goji berries is well known for its anti aging effects… in other words, it was as if Lu Xi was mocking Xie Yizhao for being old. ↩︎
Eu amo a FL! Lol!
