Chapter 16 – Do you know Xie Heng? That’s my son, go ask him. (Part 1)
Lu Xi’s feeling was correct; it really was her period, it coming so early must have something to do with time travel.
And… it was also because she was so pissed off by that little brat.
Lu Xi went to the bathroom and then lay back in bed, curling up with a look of utter hopelessness.
The butler came to knock on the door, saying the doctor had arrived, but Lu Xi waved her hand: “Go away, I don’t want to see a doctor.”
Xie Yizhao frowned, glanced at her face, and leaned down to say, “Then I’ll take you to the hospital.”
Lu Xi: “…”
Not only was the little brat annoying, now he was joining in too? She didn’t want to see a doctor, so he suggested going to the hospital. What kind of suggestion was that?
Forget it, she didn’t even have the energy to complain.
“I’m not sick, it’s just my period, understand?”
Xie Yizhao looked a bit surprised, then pursed his lips and said, “Got it.”
After all, they were married; this was something he knew about.
He remembered that Lu Xi was always very uncomfortable during this time of the month, with big mood swings—one moment she was happy, the next moment she’d start crying over a TV show. Even he would unconsciously be more careful around her to avoid getting into trouble. However, she hadn’t been sleeping well these past few days and would kick him in her sleep.
After a while, Lu Xi heard Xie Yizhao ask, “Do you want some hot water?”
Lu Xi couldn’t help but glare at him, both annoyed and amused.
Sure enough, behind every clueless young man is an equally clueless older man. These two father and son really were something else. She was speechless.
But, it was a lucky guess.
Actually, at this moment, she most wanted some brown sugar water, but she didn’t want to talk anymore, so she nodded: “Hot water is fine.”
Xie Yizhao lowered his eyes, showing a thoughtful expression.
Listening to her tone, he felt that hot water was okay, but not the best choice.
And Xie Yizhao always liked to do things perfectly, not settling for less.
But seeing Lu Xi clearly impatient, he smiled faintly, tucked her in, adjusted the room temperature higher, and then walked to the window, pulling out his phone to search.
Actually, he could have easily told the butler to handle it, the kitchen would naturally prepare everything properly.
But now he wanted to do it himself.
Back when they first got married, he was so busy he barely had time for her, let alone show her care. Now that he had time, who else would he spend it on but his family?
Xie Yizhao quickly found the information he needed.
He gave instructions to the butler first, then returned to the room, sat by the bed, and reached out his hand. After a moment of hesitation, he gently touched Lu Xi’s hair.
Her hair was smooth and cool, often getting caught under him while they slept, and she’d push him away unceremoniously.
But not these past few days.
Lu Xi slept on the other side of the bed, separated by an invisible line.
In fact, Lu Xi wasn’t asleep. Her periods were always tough on her, with headaches, stomachaches, chest tightness, and irritability.
She used to hear the old servant at her uncle’s house say that having a child would cure this problem, but who knows if it’s true…
Lu Xi probably won’t have the chance to find out either.
After all, Xie Heng was not really ‘born’ by her, and she certainly wouldn’t have another child in the future.
One troublesome child in the house is enough to deal with.
But what did Xie Yizhao mean by sitting next to her like this? Why didn’t he go to the study to work?
Lu Xi cleared her throat, turned over to face him, and opened her eyes to stare at him.
Xie Yizhao looked at her, “I asked someone to prepare brown sugar water. Today’s diet will also be adjusted. Do you need me to do anything else?”
Lu Xi raised her eyebrows, not bad for a straight guy, he even knew to level up.
Looking at his handsome, mature face and steady demeanor, Lu Xi suddenly thought of something and blinked at him coquettishly, “If you have time, then give me a belly rub.”
Lu Xi wanted to test how far his thoughtfulness could go. If he refused, what excuse would he use?
Xie Yizhao only thought for a second or two before he said, “Wait a moment.”
He got up and went to the bathroom. Lu Xi heard the sound of the shower. He came out in less than two minutes, changed into dark loungewear, and then lay down beside her.
Lu Xi was still in a daze at this point.
No way, was he really going to give her a belly rub? Although it was very considerate, it felt a bit odd. Didn’t he have to work today?
Amidst her brief chaotic thoughts, Xie Yizhao was already leaning next to her.
He didn’t hold her, maintaining a finger’s distance between them, and his hand stayed outside her clothes. His gentle movements made Lu Xi feel much more comfortable, and her earlier concerns vanished.
What was odd? Nothing at all!
They were still nominally husband and wife. He was her husband, so it was only right for him to give her a belly rub.
Lu Xi had no psychological burden at all and enjoyed it comfortably. After all, her own feelings were the most important right now.
After a while, Xie Yizhao asked in a low voice, “Do you feel better now?”
Lu Xi, with her eyes closed, unceremoniously gave her service rating, “A little better, keep going.”
Hearing this, Xie Yizhao suddenly felt a strange sense of accomplishment, different from what he felt in his career.
“Okay.”
The bedroom was very quiet. Lu Xi’s head was drowsy, wanting to sleep, but the earlier incident was still weighing on her mind.
Xie Yizhao’s hand never stopped, and he had no amorous thoughts at all.
Lu Xi had been back for more than ten days. They lay in the same bed but had never had any intimate interactions. With Xie Yizhao’s character, he naturally wouldn’t lose control, so everything had been peaceful.
Suddenly, Lu Xi moved, seemingly uncomfortable, and changed her position, leaning completely into his arms.
He smelled a faint coconut scent from her hair, sweet but not cloying, a very pleasant feminine fragrance.
Looking down at her young, delicate side profile, her face taut and full of collagen, it was just like when they were newlyweds, unchanged.
Xie Yizhao continued his movements, his eyes involuntarily darkening for a moment.
Lu Xi, however, was completely unaware and stretched comfortably.
As she moved, her clothes rode up, and the man’s hand pressed directly against her skin.
Before Lu Xi could react, Xie Yizhao sensed something, stopped, and his gaze suddenly became puzzled.
The skin under his palm was very smooth, without any roughness or irregularities.
But Xie Heng was born by caesarean section.
Xie Yizhao frowned.
“Why did you stop?” Lu Xi noticed his gaze and was somewhat puzzled.
It had only been a few minutes, surely he wasn’t tired already.
Xie Yizhao pursed his lips, thought for a moment, and still asked, “You don’t have a scar on your stomach.”
Of course, he wasn’t doubting Lu Xi’s identity. On the night on the ship, he knew it was her, not to mention the paternity test—it was beyond question.
But she still had many mysteries about her.
However, if she didn’t want to talk about it, he didn’t intend to press her. It was normal for her to have secrets after more than ten years of absence. He could just assume the scar had healed over time.
Lu Xi was stunned for a moment.
Her stomach?
She touched it herself, blinked slowly, and vaguely understood what Xie Yizhao meant. She subconsciously asked, “I gave birth to Xiao Heng by caesarean section?”
That dream was very chaotic and lacked detailed descriptions, so she wasn’t clear.
Seeing her dazed expression, Xie Yizhao lowered his gaze. Her reaction reminded him of a sci-fi movie he had seen, and a suspicion formed in his mind.
Maybe she wasn’t really missing.
But rather, like in some fantasy works nowadays… she had traveled directly from a certain point in time to the present?
It sounded absurd. If someone had told him this before, he would have thought they were crazy.
But after the experiences of the past few days, there was nothing he couldn’t believe.
It was ridiculous, but it was the only explanation.
He didn’t show any signs of this thought and said softly, “Yes, the baby’s position was wrong, so we had to do a caesarean.”
Lu Xi suddenly felt like laughing.
It seemed that little guy had been quite a troublemaker even in her womb. No wonder he grew up to be a little rascal.
How to say? It felt very strange. She was listening to someone describe an event she hadn’t experienced, but it was something that had truly happened to her, like looking at herself through a mirror.
She suddenly felt a bit fortunate.
Giving birth sounded very painful.
She had heard it was many times worse than menstrual cramps. Just thinking about it was enough for her. She would also have to endure the discomfort before birth, the body changes afterward, and various aftereffects…
She had watched a video of childbirth once, scarier than any horror movie she had ever seen. At that moment, she decided that all mothers in the world were great, but she didn’t want to be one of them.
At least, she didn’t want to become a mother too early.
Seeing that in the dream she had given birth so early, it was beyond her plan, and she was quite upset about it.
Lu Xi: “So, how did I end up… getting pregnant with him?”
This question was a bit awkward. She had always been curious but hadn’t been able to ask until now, when the conversation naturally led to it. She blurted it out without thinking.
Xie Yizhao fell silent for a moment.
He stopped what he was doing and cleared his throat. It seemed like he had to gather his thoughts before he spoke, and his tone was still somewhat unnatural. “That time, it accidentally… got broken.”
Lu Xi: “…” If she had known it would turn out like this, she wouldn’t have asked.
What did she think it was? It was actually because of this???
Accidentally… How accidental was it, and what exactly was the situation?
The most embarrassing part was that Xie Yizhao wasn’t a stranger to her. They had been intimate, and in Lu Xi’s memory, it was just a few days ago.
Once her imagination started, she couldn’t stop. She could think of too much—his movements, scent, the deep, spine-tingling sound of his voice, and his body that she really liked…
No, no, she couldn’t keep thinking about it. She had to stop!
The air was filled with suspicious awkwardness, and she couldn’t even care about feeling uncomfortable.
If she continued thinking, she would be embarrassed to face Xie Heng.
Lu Xi bit her lip and quickly changed the subject: “By the way, that day on the boat, how did you know it was me?”
She seemed to hear the man behind her sigh lightly, making her ears tingle.
Xie Yizhao : “You rolled your eyes at me back then.”
Lu Xi : ? “And so?”
Xie Yizhao : “It looked exactly like the way you used to roll your eyes.”
That kind of slightly temperamental yet spoiled look.
Lu Xi was speechless after hearing this and muttered softly in rebuttal: “Nonsense, when did I ever?”
Did she? It seemed like, maybe, just a little… But what he remembered wasn’t her beautiful appearance, but how she rolled her eyes?
As expected, this was typical of a straightforward guy.
Lu Xi drank the mugwort and brown sugar water sent by the servant and fell asleep unknowingly. When she woke up, it was already evening, and Xie Yizhao was not by her side.
She felt much better and didn’t want to stay in bed. She went downstairs to find something to eat.
She intended to move around a bit, so she didn’t take the elevator. When she reached the second floor, she saw the light in the study was on and knew that Xie Yizhao was busy inside again.
Suddenly, Xie Heng came out of the room. He saw Lu Xi and casually walked over to her, going downstairs together.
Lu Xi placed her hand on the banister and glanced at him: “At this hour, are you going out to play games or basketball?”
Xie Heng instinctively wanted to retort, but he swallowed his words when he remembered something. But he didn’t say where he was going either. He mumbled, “Not going anywhere.”
She didn’t say anything and continued going downstairs.
Then something strange happened.
She was moving slowly because she didn’t feel well, but the usually lively Young Master was moving like a rusty spring, slow and mechanical.
Several times, when he moved faster and glanced at her, he quickly slowed down and continued in slow motion.
Lu Xi raised her eyebrows.
What was he doing, racing with her like a tortoise and hare?
She didn’t ask and let him be, curious to see what he was up to.
