Chapter 97 – King of Entertainment: Loving You Across the World – You Can Only Fall in Love with Me (04)
Min Gunian, who had always been known as a workaholic, had been leaving work on time for the past few days, shocking his employees. His assistant, who was privy to some inside information, sighed in relief—finally, their cold and rigid boss had softened. Now he could also enjoy the luxury of leaving work on time.
Min Gunian had thoroughly investigated the young man’s background, and the more he learned, the more his heart ached.
Bai Tang’s parents had left home for work when he was a child and never returned. He was raised by his grandmother, but when he was thirteen, she fell seriously ill. With no money for treatment, Bai Tang dropped out of school to work and earn a living. Eventually, he was discovered by a talent scout and landed a supporting role in a youth drama, stepping into the entertainment industry.
However, without formal training or industry connections, Bai Tang’s acting career was anything but smooth. He was often cast in insignificant roles, and his earnings weren’t even enough to cover his grandmother’s medical expenses. A few years later, his grandmother succumbed to her illness.
The years that followed weren’t much different—he struggled to land decent roles and stumbled his way through the entertainment industry.
At precisely 5 PM, Min Gunian put down Bai Tang’s file, grabbed his coat, and left work on time.
His assistant’s heart leaped with joy—it was yet another early day off.
But just as the boss reached the door, he suddenly turned back. The assistant immediately straightened up, adopting a serious, professional stance, ready for orders.
“Transfer Bai Tang to our company. Pay the termination fee—ten times the original amount.”
“Understood,” the assistant responded respectfully, growing even more curious about this person named Bai Tang.
Signing an artist was nothing out of the ordinary, but for Min Gunian—an entertainment industry mogul and the head of the Min Corporation, which owned countless subsidiaries—this was unusual. The most prestigious and wealthiest division under the Min Corporation was its film and television sector, a place everyone in the industry dreamed of joining. Not just anyone could sign with them.
The assistant had also reviewed Bai Tang’s profile. There wasn’t anything particularly remarkable about him—except for his rather tragic background. So what had caught the BOSS’s attention?
Curiosity was one thing, but orders were orders.
When negotiating Bai Tang’s contract termination with Mingfeng Entertainment, the company readily agreed to release him. They even tried to subtly probe into Bai Tang’s background.
If I knew, I’d be surprised myself… The assistant muttered internally but maintained a professional demeanor, revealing nothing. He efficiently completed the procedures and took his leave.
…
Back home, Min Gunian went up to the third floor to look for Bai Tang in the entertainment room.
The young man seemed to have a particular fondness for films. He didn’t like going out during the day but enjoyed watching movies. If not for Fu Bo’s presence in the manor, he might have spent an entire day in the screening room without eating or drinking—though, oddly enough, his preference was for animated films.
“You’re back~”
Hearing the door open, Bai Tang swiftly hid behind it. The moment Min Gunian stepped inside, he suddenly jumped out to startle him.
“Did you eat properly today?” Min Gunian was delighted that Bai Tang felt comfortable enough to joke around with him—it meant the distance between them was gradually closing.
“I did! I even had the mousse cake Uncle Fu made at three o’clock,” Bai Tang patted his round little belly, signaling that he had been obedient.
After being pulled over to feel Bai Tang’s small, stuffed belly, Min Gunian couldn’t stop smiling.
“Will you still have room for dinner?”
“No, no, no, I’m so full,” Bai Tang firmly refused. Min Gunian always thought he was too skinny and wanted to feed him more. Bai Tang didn’t really mind—except when Min Gunian insisted he eat more meat, which wasn’t exactly ideal.
“That’s a shame…” Min Gunian sighed. “When I came back, I saw Uncle Fu in the kitchen making stir-fried cashews with green peas…”
Min Gunian continued listing several vegetable and nut-based dishes, making Bai Tang’s mouth water.
“I think… if I take a short walk, I’ll probably be able to eat when I come back. Ah Nian said it himself—meals should always be eaten on time, or it’s bad for the stomach.”
Seeing Bai Tang speak so seriously, Min Gunian almost couldn’t hold back his laughter. How could someone be this adorable? But he had to restrain himself—otherwise, Tangtang would get all flustered.
“You’re right, Tang Tang. Meals should always be eaten on time,” Min Gunian agreed, picking up the remote to turn off the screen. “I’ve been sitting at the office all day—my whole body feels stiff. This is a perfect excuse to take a walk with you and loosen up a bit.”
Bai Tang tilted his head and stared at Min Gunian’s shoulders.
“What’s wrong?” Min Gunian wondered. Did he see through my lie?
Bai Tang pursed his lips and said with bright, determined eyes, “I’ll give you a shoulder massage tonight.”
Ever since Bai Tang moved in, Min Gunian had been experiencing pleasant surprises every day. He finally broke his usual serious demeanor and chuckled. “Then I’ll be in your care, Tang Tang.”
After their walk, Bai Tang enjoyed his most satisfying meal in half a month. There was no meat—only his favorite foods—and Uncle Fu’s cooking made everything especially delicious.
…
After dinner, Min Gunian brought some documents to Bai Tang’s room.
“Tang Tang.” He sat down beside him, causing the soft mattress to sink slightly. “Come work at my company. You love acting, don’t you? Once you’re in, you can play any role you want, and you’ll have your pick of resources.”
“Wow, this is what they call ‘keeping a lover,’ huh?” The system’s voice chimed in. “Tang Tang, don’t accept! All the novels say that being kept always comes with ulterior motives. He definitely wants to sleep with you, and once the novelty wears off, he’ll toss you aside!”
Having lived a comfortable, stable life for the past half month, the system had nothing better to do and had spent its free time reading brainless romance novels.
Bai Tang thought about it carefully and realized that Qiu’er might have a point. So he turned to the properly seated and serious-looking Min Gunian and asked, “If I sign, does that mean you’ll sleep with me?”
The system nearly died on the spot. Tang Tang, how could you say that out loud?! What if the male lead gets embarrassed and throws us out? We’ll be sleeping on the streets!
Min Gunian was also taken aback by Bai Tang’s question. However, his first thought was of Bai Tang’s background—his file mentioned that someone had once tried to “keep” him, but after Bai Tang refused, his acting career had been full of hardships.
He gently ruffled the young man’s soft hair and, without hiding his intentions, admitted, “Yes.” He took Bai Tang’s hand, interlocking their fingers. “I want to officially pursue you, to be in a relationship with you, to marry you. I want to take you to food markets, to go on jungle adventures with you… to do all the things you love together. And if you ever feel lonely, we can even adopt a child. Then, when we grow old and can’t walk anymore, we’ll just lie in the sun and enjoy the warmth together…”
“Holy crap, the male lead totally stole lines from my ‘Ultimate Collection of Love Declarations‘!” the system groaned. I’m so done. I refuse to witness this. Goodbye, dog food.
Min Gunian’s envisioned future was beautiful. It seemed like, in every world, the male lead would plan a future with him and work tirelessly toward making him happy.
No matter how many times he was confessed to, Bai Tang was still the same shy boy as before. At this moment, his cheeks were flushed red, and his eyes sparkled brightly.
It was exactly 9 PM. The bright white lights automatically dimmed into a warm, soft glow. Their shadows stretched across the wall, and the atmosphere was just right.
Min Gunian lowered his head, slowly closing the distance between them. Bai Tang, understanding his intentions, obediently closed his eyes. The two shadows on the wall overlapped, then separated, then overlapped once more.
In the midst of this tenderness, the contract lying on the bed had somehow been pushed aside—though really, who would think about something so unimportant at a time like this?
…
The Next Morning
Bai Tang woke up early and signed the contract without even reading it.
Last night had been wonderful, but Min Gunian, concerned about Bai Tang’s body and lacking proper preparation, had spent the entire night “stiffly” pressing a certain part of himself against Bai Tang. Even though Bai Tang had whispered that he didn’t mind, Min Gunian insisted—he wanted to save the best for when Bai Tang truly accepted him, which, in his mind, would be on their wedding night.
Out of curiosity, the system scanned the contract, wanting to study how employment agreements were structured. However, after reviewing it, it was utterly dumbfounded. The clauses were full of loopholes—this contract wasn’t even enough to properly bind an employee.
What the hell does “Unlimited leave, no restrictions on vacation days” mean?!
And “Leaving the company before the contract ends does not require paying a termination fee”?!
Dating within the company? The partner’s rank must be at the director level or higher.
Don’t think the system didn’t notice—anyone who could make it to a director position at the Min Corporation was old enough to be Tang Tang’s grandfather. And among the directors and above, the only young, single one was Min Gunian himself.
D*mn it, does he think Tang Tang doesn’t understand what’s going on?!
The system rolled up its sleeves, fully prepared to fight the male lead—this was clearly taking advantage of Tang Tang.
Then, Bai Tang hit it with a single line that completely shut it up: “Don’t you think this contract gives me a lot of freedom?”
The system deflated. Well… yeah, actually. It was basically getting paid to do nothing, the ultimate dream job for most people.
On the day Bai Tang was set to make his grand entrance, Garry personally led his team to the manor to style him.
With Bai Tang’s natural good looks and Garry’s top-tier fashion sense, the transformation was astonishing. Bai Tang now looked completely different from when he first arrived at the manor.
“Well~ absolutely perfect!” Garry clasped his hands together in delight, then turned to Bai Tang. “I just started my own clothing brand—be my brand ambassador, cutie! I promise it’ll be a huge hit~”
“Sure~” Bai Tang smiled. Everything Garry picked for me always looks amazing, so he had no doubt that the brand would be great too.
“Oh~ wonderful! My little cutie is the best! Not like some people—so stiff and emotionless, totally heartless! Ugh, I hate it~” Garry huffed dramatically, clearly throwing shade at Min Gunian.
Ever since Garry found out Bai Tang would be signing under Min Corporation, he had gone straight to Min Gunian to propose a brand ambassadorship. But Min Gunian had rejected him outright without even looking at the proposal.
To be fair, it wasn’t entirely Min Gunian’s fault. Garry’s previous fashion lines were all about bold, revealing, and sexy designs—there was no way Min Gunian was going to let Bai Tang wear just a few scraps of fabric barely covering the important parts.
Min Gunian’s car pulled up at the company entrance, immediately drawing attention. Most of the female employees paused mid-step, stopping in their tracks.
The car door swung open, and Min Gunian was the first to step out.
The female employees could no longer contain their excitement.
“Boss is so handsome~” they whispered excitedly, eagerly watching as he walked toward them, hoping for a close-up view.
Just then, the Boss himself stepped out of the car—hand in hand with a young man.
“Who is that?! He must be really important if Boss is personally escorting him!” The female employees whispered among themselves.
But the moment they saw Bai Tang’s face, their inner fangirls exploded.
“Ahhh~ so cute~!”
“What kind of divine treasure is this?! Quick, take a picture!”
“Hey, don’t block me—I wanna see too!”
Phones were instantly whipped out, some discreetly snapping photos, others taking them openly and boldly.
With his squirrel spirit inheritance, Bai Tang’s features had become even more refined and pure than the original host’s. But since these changes happened inside the manor, Uncle Fu and the others had gotten used to it, simply assuming that Bai Tang had recovered his natural beauty over time.
Click, click…
A flash went off, momentarily blinding Bai Tang. He turned his head to the right—only to see the culprit hastily hiding their phone.
“Hello, everyone~”
Bai Tang greeted them with a smile. Since they were Min Gunian’s employees, he naturally felt goodwill toward them—and didn’t mind their enthusiasm.
“Ahh, he even greeted us! So polite!”
“Little cutie, look over here! Wave to big sis~!”
As soon as Bai Tang spoke, the previously restrained female employees lost all composure again, ready to pounce.
