Chapter 66 – Apocalypse Arc: Zombie Siege: Rebirth in the Apocalypse—My Secret Lover (04)

“I want more~” Bai Tang’s voice, softened by the warmth of the porridge, sounded even more delicate and sweet.

Bai Yun was just about to scoop another bowl when she saw Shao Licang gently push the bowl away and pick up a napkin to wipe Bai Tang’s mouth with care.

“Eat smaller meals more frequently, okay? If you eat too much at once, your stomach will start hurting again.” If Shao Licang’s subordinates had been present, they would have been utterly shocked—was this truly their cold, ruthless CEO showing such tenderness?

Bai Yun finally remembered that Bai Tang’s weak body couldn’t handle eating too much in one sitting. She then recalled her plan and, with a serious expression, turned to Shao Licang. “I saved you. Don’t you think you should repay me?”

Shao Licang nodded slightly and, in true domineering CEO fashion, asked, “How much do you want?”

Just what I was waiting for.

Bai Yun mentally gave herself a victory sign but kept a straight face as she replied, “I have two conditions—give me ten million, and find a reliable hospital for my brother. You’ll cover all his medical expenses.”

Shao Licang remained unfazed, as if Bai Yun wasn’t even worth his attention. “Fine.”

Just as he spoke, several men in black suits suddenly barged through the door, standing in perfect formation as they called out in unison, “Boss.”

In Shao Licang’s arms, Bai Tang flinched, trembling slightly in fear.

Mistaking it for another episode of Bai Tang’s illness, Shao Licang coaxed him in a low, soothing voice, “It’s okay, it doesn’t hurt~ Let’s go see a doctor, alright?”

Bai Tang buried his face deeper into Shao Licang’s embrace and murmured so softly it was almost inaudible, “Okay.”

Bai Yun felt utterly frustrated. Why is my little brother siding with an outsider?!

Shao Licang turned his head, his expression shifting in an instant—cold and ruthless to the extreme. “Find out who made a move last night.”

Yet, when he looked down at Bai Tang, his gaze softened into one of deep affection. Taking the suit jacket handed to him by his subordinate, he carefully wrapped it around the boy in his arms, making sure he was shielded from the wind before standing up and carrying Bai Tang downstairs.

Bai Yun, who had been nothing more than a background character throughout the entire scene, quickly followed.

At the hospital, the doctor suggested a full-body examination for Bai Tang, but he refused to leave Shao Licang’s embrace. Only after Shao Licang coaxed him repeatedly, reassuring him that he wouldn’t leave and would stay right by his side, did Bai Tang reluctantly agree.

“Boss, you need to get your wound treated too,” said a dark-skinned man as he stepped forward.

Having gone untreated all night, Shao Licang’s wound had fused with his white shirt, and signs of infection had already begun to set in.

“I’ll wait. Tang Tang will get scared if he doesn’t see me,” Shao Licang said, his eyes never leaving the transparent window separating him from Bai Tang.

“There’s still some time before the young master is finished,” the man said, taking note of how much Shao Licang valued Bai Tang and changing his address accordingly. “Boss, you should go get treated first.”

But Shao Licang remained unmoved. “I’ll get my wound dressed here.”

“You trying to scare Tang Tang?” Bai Yun, unwilling to be just a background character, finally spoke up. “Tsk tsk, that wound of yours isn’t small. If Tang Tang sees it, he’ll be terrified.”

The less the male lead got involved with her and her brother, the better chance they had of surviving.

After Bai Tang’s preliminary examination, he was taken into a deeper section of the clinic for further diagnosis. Now that Bai Tang was out of sight, Shao Licang was finally convinced to leave—though only after giving strict orders to the staff to call him the moment Bai Tang came out. Reluctantly, he followed the doctor to get his wound treated.

Bai Tang’s condition was clearly off—even the system could tell.

Tang Tang’s eyes had never looked so helpless and full of despair. The moment he was separated from Shao Licang, it was as if he had lost all will to live.

Although the system couldn’t activate its treatment mode, it could still run a basic scan. The results matched those of the doctor.

“Depression.” The doctor cast a sympathetic glance at Bai Tang before writing the diagnosis on the medical chart.
